There are two things they don't tell you about using ghost:br>br> 1. Before attempting to create an image, you MUST run CHKDSK /F. The program will notify you that you have a cyclic redundancy check error if you have just one bad file. (following a 30-minute run) 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br When prompted to reboot while running a live update, DO NOT DO SO! br>br>After running LiveUpdate, you will be prompted to restart your computer, according to Norton tech support:br>br> If you choose "YES" when asked to reboot the computer, it will shut down before the installation is finished. I recommend that you select "NO" and wait for the Live Update to finish. After the patch has been fully installed, restart your computer.

Symantec was aware of the "GHOST" issue but didn't have a solution. In many ways, Symantec backed up Microsoft's statement. GHOST prevents me from installing any new programs or making changes to existing ones. Symantec wants more money to assist me in resolving a problem they don't understand. GHOST 9 is the name of the program. 0) has no "Uninstall" option. " It's a big no, but a cancer that's been irradiated with "Removal" will heal your computer.
NG 2003 is the way to go. Norton Ghost 9 is a bloated, buggy mess with an interface that doesn't resemble other Symantec/Norton products in the least. Its backups are significantly larger than those created by Norton Ghost 2003. I was able to back up my entire hard drive to a single blank DVD using Ghost 2003, whereas Ghost 9 requires two DVDs. br>br>On top of that, it removed the drivers for my two optical drives! br>br>Backing up a hard drive in Windows has been likened to trying to service a car while it's on the road. Although returning to DOS in Ghost 2003 may appear "clunky" and "old fashioned," it is a fundamentally sounder approach. br>br>My "bottom line" is that Ghost 2003 should be avoided at all costs.
It does exactly what it says.
The system would boot up, but the recovery menu options would cause it to hang. br>br>There is ZERO support; the online support is completely useless, and you'll have to pay a lot of money if you don't want to pay a lot of money. br>br>I'm requesting a refund for this complete nonsense.
I was excited to use this backup program because I had previous experience with it. The activation key was illegible, so it was only used for a short time. It was only possible to use the trial period.
Version is fantastic.
The program performs admirably, as it always does. The ability to create an image on the same hard drive as the one being imaged is appealing to me. However, it would not create a Windows 2000 Server image, which is what I really needed.
