Questions & Answers
There shouldn't be any distinction between Premium and Non-Premium products. When it comes to Bluetooth input, this is a premium product. It's as simple as switching to a wireless microphone instead of a wired one.
It's just an ear hook for me. I believe the over-the-top is an add-on.
Bluetooth is used by the headset that comes with the package. Aside from that, the software is the standard Premium v12. Even if you purchased the wireless version, you can use it with any wired headset. There is no need to connect to the internet.

I'm a writer, so the only thing I'll be doing with this software is word processing, which is only a small part of what it can do. br>br>I had previously owned an older version of Dragon, which I purchased in 2007. I wasn't as motivated to learn this software at the time as I am now because of the pain in my hands, arms, and shoulders, and I was also intimidated by what I assumed would be a steep learning curve before I could use it. As a result, I was never able to get it off the ground. br>br>This time, keyboarding pain motivated me to push past my fears, and I made a happy discovery in the process: It only took me a couple of hours on a single day to fully train the program using the bluetooth so that it could accurately recognize my voice; also, while there are a lot of potential voice commands available, since I only need this for word processing, there were only a few dozen I needed to memorize to get me started, for example: OPEN PAREN, CLOSE PAREN, OPEN QUOTE, CLOSE QUOTE, CAP, NEW LINE, OPEN PAREN, CLOSE PAREN, OPEN PAREN, CLOSE PAREN, OPEN QUOTE, CLOSE QUOTE, OPEN QU br>br>Here are some things I've noticed while using this software on a regular basis that a potential customer might be interested in knowing: 1. br>br> The bluetooth functionality that comes with this software package appeals to me. This software performs exceptionally well when it comes to voice recognition. However, it isn't the most comfortable bluetooth fit I've ever had. It takes a lot of fiddling to get it firmly lodged in my ear so it doesn't feel like it's going to fall out.
2. This software provides a variety of reading options for the program's training. I chose the longest one, a Dave Barry reading that took me 40 minutes to complete, because I wanted to ensure that the transcription was as accurate as possible. I'm not sure if I needed to do so much, but I'm glad I did because the accuracy is fantastic.
3. When I use the bluetooth to dictate, I've had to adjust to the fact that the response time is significantly slower than my natural typing speed of 110 wpm because Dragon translates my voiced statements into words on the screen instead of me typing them. It's probably around 25 wpm, if not less, in my opinion. If you're a sluggish typist, this is the place to be. or a two- finger typist is a term used to describe someone who uses their fingers to type. This will not be an issue because it will be as fast as, if not faster than, what you type.
4. I bought a mini recording device that was compatible separately.
I've been using Dragon for years, but this version appears to be even better than previous versions. The Bluetooth version is far more convenient than the versions with a microphone that I've tried. So far, I've only had positive experiences with the software and microphone. However, there is a word of caution. We had a difficult time getting the software to load. We tried about ten times, and it was a devil of a time. We tested it on a different computer to see if the DVD/CD-ROM drive was defective. Our Windows 7 machine's ROM drive was not working, and it wasn't the computer's fault. We finally ran the software by going to start/run/etc. , which gave it the traction it needed to begin loading. There were no errors in this review because it was dictated using the software and a Bluetooth microphone.
Because I am not a typist, the Dragon has been extremely beneficial. It also has the appearance of a puppy. Baby steps in training it, and there are a plethora of 'extras' you can teach it once you've mastered the basics. I only use a small portion of its capabilities. br> Because the Dragon, like a good puppy, wants to please, it is very intuitive to use. There is no need to read long manuals to get started, and there are daily tips if you want them. After a short period of time, it recognizes your voice patterns, but it can be stubborn at times. It will not 'get' a word if it is stubborn, even if it is repeated several times. This is what I mean when I say. Your Dragon is constantly being trained by you. br> To be honest, the most serious issue I'm having is with the (recommended) Bluetooth microphone's awake/asleep feature. (It reminds me of a puppy!).
It helps! Don't buy this item if you don't have time to go through the extensive learning curve. I was relying on the line "Naturally Speaking," and it simply does not hold up to that ad line; however, I began to learn how to use it, and it appeared to be OK. It then got to the point where I had to keep repeating what they wanted me to say into it, and it eventually stopped working. I also used it on a brand new Dell computer that I purchased! I didn't want anything else on it to make things more complicated, and it didn't. It was no problem for me to return it. My advice is to look for specific forums dedicated to this type of software and ask the experts questions before purchasing any software like this. They're out there, and they're ready to assist. Unfortunately for me, I discovered them after purchasing the software and had to learn the hard way. Do your homework, you won't be sorry.
It's been three weeks, and I've had to fight for three weeks to get the microphone to turn on, the spelling mistakes are terrible (a six-year-old can spell better than this program), and customer service is terrible, because it's "ALWAYS MY FAULT" no matter how bad this product works. br>br>I bought this expecting it to get better after three years, but it has only gotten worse. Trying to get money back from Nuance is like trying to pull a tooth out of a three-day-old baby, which is IMPOSSIBLE because they always claim that all problems are due to the user, not the shoddy product they sell. br>br>I intended to use this to make school easier, but instead I made it more difficult. As I previously stated, customer service stinks (they make Comcast look good), speech to text is still buggy as hell (I bought 13 because they said it was better, but it was worse than 7), the blutooth mic is garbage, and the so-called transcribing feature (which is why I bought the damn program) can't even transcribe Mary had a little lamb correctly, it comes up as gibberish EVERY SINGLE TIME). br>br>LIKE THE PLAGUE, AVOID THIS PRODUCT AS IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY.
