Questions & Answers

Is anyone running Windows 8 and using any of the Dragon software? What are your thoughts on the subject?

I'm using Windows 8 and it's great.

Is it possible to use it in Spanish?

Because I purchased this as a gift, I am unable to respond to this question. I apologize for not being able to assist you.

Will this work well for transcribing medical documents from recorders? I'd like to buy this so I can work from home doing transcription. ?

Hello Angela, I know you can communicate through a microphone. However, I'm not sure about using a recording device after you've trained it to recognize your voice and it appears to work well. You can give it a shot and see if it works for you. You'll need to purchase NaturallySpeaking 12 if you're running Windows 8. I'm a quadriplegic who has used various versions of NaturallySpeaking for over 25 years, and this one seemed to recognize every medical term I threw at it, so you might be in luck. They do make a professional medical NaturallySpeaking, but it costs around $500 and is supposed to allow you to dictate to it as well as have all of the medical terms built-in. NaturallySpeaking 12 premium costs around $100, so it's worth a shot before you commit. If you buy either version, do yourself a favor and get the training DVD for around $30 from Amazon. Because there is so much more to it than most people realize, it works properly and produces satisfactory results. Thank you for your inquiry; please do not hesitate to contact us again. Don West

0 to 9. 1. a smidgeon of ten I was looking for a way to get into my medical records through an electronic portal. br>PROS: br>br>br>br>br>br>b quick and precise There are a lot of features, so the depth can be learned over time. ready to use right out of the box - In a matter of minutes, you'll be able to get up and running: Since I had to begin training, it was time to put it to use for the first time: 60 min. the price is correct There was a disc and a headset included with the purchase. In place of DNS11, I used a different headsst that came with my DD3. 5 (the previous version). It's a fantastic headset. I intend to pair it with a Logitech h800 bluetooth headset. Now, after about 60 hours of use (using the term "use" to refer to hours of "flight time" or "drive-on time" for planes, boats, and tractors: the situation is improving. Now, almost all of the inaccuracies are due to me (a word was mispronounced, coughed, and stumbled). It trains smoothly and quickly, much faster than previous versions. It's running on Windows 7 for me. i7 4770; 8GB RAM; 64 bit. [If I had to use Windows 8 for some reason, DNS Premium 12 would be my choice. ] ]br> I study with it - It has the capability of reading articles to me while I am reading them. helps me.
CONS: none. That's correct: experienced American English from the Midwest. If you're not one of them, here's what you should do. High learning curve (estimate 200 hours) with intermittent learning to iron out kinks. If I were a beginner, I'd take every Nuance tutorial available and lay the groundwork first to avoid frustration years down the road. It's like getting a puppy, according to one reviewer. If you become frustrated, it is almost always the user's fault, not the Dragon Puppy's. If one considers it in this light, frustrations are reduced. If you've never had a puppy before, here are some things to consider. get one. In a year, if you, your dog, and Dragon are all on the same page: You must have Dragon. br>Warning: This information is for informational purposes only. Except as a longtime customer approaching just over 10,000 hours of use, I have no affiliation with Nuance, DNS, DD3, or any other company. Because I am not physically disabled, I use a full-featured keyboard and mouse, but I am increasingly relying on commands. br>Recommendation: 2. Use as much RAM as you can. a powerful processor, preferably an i5. Yes, I would recommend it to colleagues and friends, and I already have. It isn't suitable for everyone, just like dogs and other pets. 5 . With Dragon's continued development, my typing, keyboarding, and overall functionality improved. I spent a lot of time comparing Windows Speech Recognition Win7 and Mac Speech Voiceover over the last few hours. The programs are excellent. Dragon's functionality is only about half of what it is now. Although I am addicted to technology, I am not a tech geek. ) 7. Because the license is per computer, I would have this available on each computer if I were (am) writing a book. I'm not familiar with the more advanced professional versions, which are out of my price range. They may be able to collaborate with EMR in a seamless manner. This version (as well as version 12) does not. Because I am the one who is dictating, I have no experience with transcription. as an autocrat - Dragon, in my experience, makes fewer errors than human transcribers, owing to the fact that it provides immediate feedback - This version complements it nicely. The last time I tried dictating to a device (an Olympus), it didn't work very well in version 9. 0 - However, a lot has changed since then. phillips' portable microphone: good but too expensive (I have about 600 - I have over 1200 hours of experience with a number of them. Bluetooth or USB headsets are my preferred options. br> I hope this has been of assistance. I'm trying to come up with a name for Dragon Puppy.

It's a lot better than the VR software that came with Windows 7
5/5

Over the weekend, I bought Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 Premium and got version 11. Tuesday, at 5 p. m. It went smoothly on my Windows 7 PC and also on my Windows Vista laptop, but the analog headset that came with it didn't work on my laptop. I had to use a USB headset that I had lying around for that. I started dictating into the DragonPad that came with the software after setting up the microphone and going through the training to see how DNS compared to the speech recognition software in Windows 7 and Windows Vista. It was a pleasant surprise for me. I was desperate for a voice recognition application that was both reliable and fast after being diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, arthritis of the wrist, and a bone spur in the wrist joint. Unfortunately, Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11. 5 runs slowly on my laptop, despite the fact that it is several years old and only has two gigabytes of RAM. On my Windows 7 desktop, DNS works much better and faster. In fact, I persuaded my boss to buy a copy of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 because it works so well. For my use at work, I've given it a rating of 5 professional. I installed it today and had a productive and pain-free day! br>br>However, the headset that came with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 isn't compatible with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11. Although the 5 premium is adequate and passes the tests, I decided to invest in an Andrea headset from KnowBrainer, which is not only more comfortable but also more accurate. br>br>At the time I bought Dragon NaturallySpeaking, my main concern was compatibility with the software I use. The issue I had with the Windows 7 voice recognition software was that it only worked reliably with Microsoft applications, and some of my favorite writing programs were not from Microsoft. I had to dictate into notepad and then copy and paste it into my preferred application because the Windows 7 VR software didn't work with it. The habit of the Windows software to insert a blank space after an open quote was another annoyance. Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11 is a program that allows you to speak like a dragon 5 does a much better job of correctly punctuating my sentences, especially when it comes to quotations and capitalization at the start of sentences. br>br>The ability to create macros in the professional version is the biggest difference I've noticed so far between the premium and professional versions. For example, I could say the acronym for a product my company sells, and my custom macro would automatically insert the product name, complete with trademark symbols. Of course, this is my first full day with it, so I still have a lot to learn. I've been a satisfied customer thus far. *Dictated with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 11. br>br> With six dictation errors, you get a premium rating of 5 out of 5. 5/17/12: br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br In some of my applications (such as Arbortext), DNS has a habit of not capitalizing new sentences. Even though the little command box says "Cap that" as expected, selecting the word and saying "Cap that" does not cap it. I have to change the letter to a capital by hand, which puts even more strain on my injured hands. Even though it irritates me, I continue to enjoy DNS. ) I've developed a habit of using DragonPad or Dictation Box for those applications, but one in particular, WriteItNow (which I use on my personal computer), causes the Dictation Box to freeze and become unresponsive, so DragonPad is usually my choice. br>br>5/29/12: What a difference a new laptop with 6GB RAM made! On this thing, Dragon is a flash of lightning!.
