Questions & Answers

I'm a writer, and I'd like to know if I can use this software to dictate a book. ?

I'm a writer and journalist, and I use this software to dictate my work. It's well worth the money, but I would also recommend looking into and purchasing a good headset and/or standalone microphone. I'm not sure if this version of Windows 10 is compatible. I'm working on figuring it out right now. If you're using Windows 10, you may need to upgrade to the latest version.

What is the maximum number of computers on which Dragon can be installed?

The initial response is incorrect. I believe the Mac version will do that (due to the fact that it is online), but the Windows version only checks to see if an upgrade is available while it is running. It will continue to run even if there is no internet connection. You have five opportunities to install and activate the program. Despite the fact that only one user is licensed.

Will it be compatible with Windows 10 and Open Office?

It's worked for me and a lot of other people on Windows 10, though some people had issues that they had to work around. Much more information can be found at the Paperport Google Group, which can be found at this address: https: //google.com/groups com/forum/ is a great place to start. forum/paperport I wouldn't expect Paperport to recognize Open Office because it isn't set up to do so.

Selected User Reviews For Dragon NaturallySpeaking Home 12.0, English (Old Version)

It does work on occasion
3/5

With everything I have to say about Dragon, I'm hoping it can keep up, because I'm writing this review on it. This software program has a lot of glowing reviews, but regular users tend to complain about newer versions every time one is released. This means that each new version is more difficult or inaccurate than the one before it. That said, Nuance is the same voice recognition software company that brought you Siri, so either they're on to something or they kissed where it counts. I use this program frequently, primarily for writing emails, creating to-do lists, and writing Amazon reviews (JK), and it appears to be hit-or-miss. I've put in a lot of work to make it more accurate, and I've set up customizable controls to make it easier for them to recognize my voice. In the end, I don't think it's up to par. It appears to ignore my voice, intended corrections, or enunciation at random, which is extremely irritating after the specified training I've completed. It may take me a few minutes to dictate a few hundred words, but it will take me ten minutes to correct all of the errors. Theoretically, the longer you use it, the better it gets and the more it learns about your style – but I've been using it for two years and am still dissatisfied. I continue to use a software program like this because it is a necessity for me. I can only imagine the frustration of others, such as professionals or those dictating for business. If you're on the fence about this program, save money by purchasing an older version. It will give you a good idea of what the program is about, as well as its controls, commands, and abilities, and you won't have to pay as much as you would for the most recent version.

Exceeded My Expectations in Accuracy by 250%
5/5

Naturally Speaking Home 12 is the version that was delivered. English is number five. That made me very happy. The pretty box was a little rough when it arrived, but who cares, this is software. The headphones came in a box with a USB adapter (direct headphone connection is also an option). The installation went off without a hitch, but it took a long time to appear. It's still crunching, so don't be concerned. Make a sandwich or something like that. The installation of the software was simple and quick. The dictation setup went off without a hitch. I went with the 4-hour option. I don't have any experience with "out-of-the-box" thinking, so I can't comment on that. the- recognition of the "box" After 4- I'd say that dictation accuracy was 95% after just a minute of training. Very nice; MS WORD worked perfectly for me. When you use it in Notepad, it automatically launches a small Dragon proprietary full-featured editor. The proprietary editor has a "TRANSFER" button at the bottom and took dictation. The text was immediately ported into Notepad underneath when the button was pressed. However, I wish Dragon would work in Notepad. The Dragon did a fantastic job. There's no need to worry. The dictation speed was excellent. That's why I went ahead and purchased version 12(12. ) 5) rather than the newer First Impressions. Great. I am overjoyed. Out of the box, it exceeded my accuracy expectations. Trust your purchase.

It's both accurate and intuitive! Out of the box, Dragon promises a 99% accuracy rate
5/5

This is the first time I've ever used Dragon to rate something. Before writing this review, I went through two training sessions. As you can see, it's remarkably accurate. I was concerned because I had read a number of reviews in which people complained about having difficulty installing Dragon. There were no issues for me. As soon as I inserted the CD into my tracks, the software began to run. Despite the fact that my computer runs Windows 10, I purchased the older version of Dragon after reading reviews indicating that Dragon 13 was problematic. So far, everything appears to be in working order, and I haven't made any changes to the text. All of this was accomplished with the help of Dragon software and a microphone headset provided by the company. br>br>The microphone is adequate, but the headset is quite small. I'm wearing it around my neck because it won't fit over my head. I'm hoping to be able to extend it, but the next setup is perfectly adequate; the tutorials were extremely helpful, and I felt confident that I could begin dictating right away. I read the dictation samples for about 10 minutes to train the software to recognize my voice. br>br>Looking back, I see about five words that Dragon got wrong. For instance, instead of right, rate is a good example. However, I haven't had much training and have a slight southern accent, so it doesn't bother me. Overall, Dragon is a game that I would recommend. It's very accurate right out of the box, and I think it'll come in handy.
