Questions & Answers

I'd like to use this to transcribe audio files; will it work?

It works, but the transcription quality is dependent on the quality of the recording. I've had good results with it.

Is it possible to use this product on multiple computers?

I'd say you can use it on multiple computers if you check with the manufacturer to make sure it's okay.

I'm a college student who wanted to use Dragon to follow along with my professors' lectures. Is Dragon capable of doing so, or does it only recognize my voice?

You'd have to position the microphone close to where he's speaking. In addition, the accuracy of the speech to text conversion has never impressed me. You could use a digital recorder to record his lecture and then use Dragon to transcribe it. If you do this on a regular basis, you can use his voice to train the software (make him a user) and improve its accuracy.

Will this work well for transcribing medical records from home recordings, or should I use Dragon 11 instead?

My husband, who is the primary user of this program, informed me that Dragon 11 (which has already been upgraded to version 11) is the most up-to-date version. Dragon 11) is much more precise than Dragon 10.

Dragon Naturally Speaking has a score of ten out of ten
4/5

Here's my take on the latest version of Dragon Naturally Speaking, after using it for several years and versions. br>As time goes on, the software improves. Of course, faster computers play a significant role in this. br>Despite the fact that multi-processor CPUs are becoming the norm, I don't see Dragon taking advantage of this feature, which is a shame because better speech recognition is inextricably linked to faster data processing. br>Dragon has steadily improved over time, but there are still issues with accuracy (still!). ) and the need to learn an entire spoken language in order to correct errors and teach the software one's personal speech patterns keep most people from adopting this software more widely, I believe. br>The benefits are clear and substantial. Who wouldn't prefer to speak to their computer rather than laboriously typing each letter in one by one? br>The problem is that a large portion of the time saved is spent correcting the software's errors. Furthermore, the errors are frequently such that it is difficult to figure out what one was trying to say in the first place when looking at what the software produced. This interrupts the flow of ideas that one was attempting to record in the first place. br>Having to start a new learning cycle is an additional burden that I'm sure most people are struggling with. I am fully aware of this. And I am a very innovative person who is always willing to try new things and make them work for me. br>And, just to show you how bad it can get, this review was typed rather than spoken. br>Perhaps computers will be ten times faster by that time? All I can do now is hope. Meanwhile, I've sunk a lot of money into something that hasn't yielded much. That, I suppose, is the cost of being a first adopter.

Goodbye, smeared keyboard! Doctors and lawyers aren't the only ones who can benefit from voice recognition
5/5

I bought it so I could use voice commands instead of my greasy hands to control my computer. My system consists of a Vista OS computer with an Intel E2220 dual core CPU, 4GB RAM, 320GB hard drive, and, of course, a DVD drive, which I purchased for $298 and keep in my garage. br>br>The software installed without a hitch and is performing as expected. Basic commands are recognized by the program, but it must be trained to match your speech pattern. Once adjusted for the individual's voice volume, the included headset with microphone works perfectly. Due to the cold weather this past month, the system's training has been delayed. This computer was chosen so that I can look up videos to help me with auto repairs, woodworking, and home improvement projects. No more stopping to wash my hands before pressing "play" once I upgrade to blue tooth! br>br>On the negative side: Because Nuance's blue tooth microphone is quite expensive, I'll be training and looking for other blue tooth microphones.

For me, it works fine
4/5

Dragon Preferred V is the program I'm using right now. In this review, we'll look at ten different software programs that you can use right now to dictate. This software program has been a lifesaver for me because I suffer from a lot of repetitive stress injuries in my wrists. br>br>I'm running it on Windows XP, and it was a breeze to set up. I believe that people who are complaining about problems with usage haven't spent enough time training on the product; I read four different documents and spent time entering specific words into the vocabulary during the training. I find that the more I use it, the more accurate it becomes. I used it for email but haven't asked it to attach anything yet because I let it scan the documents on my computer several times. br>br>I use it for email but haven't asked it to attach anything yet. I've written several memos in Word without difficulty, and I'm currently working on a 15- to 20-page report; however, I don't intend to use it for Excel or PowerPoint. br>br>I just finished looking through Amazon for items. com, and it worked perfectly for that purpose. I didn't even try to use it as a check-out method! br>br>In my opinion, the cost of saving so many keystrokes was well worth it. Learning how to use it takes some time and patience.

Only previous owners are eligible for a rebate! Be wary of 64- Users of Windows Vista! Great product (this review is for the "Preferred" version), and I like what I've seen in transcription so far
5/5

So, while I've had nothing but positive experiences with the product, it's important to note that it won't work with a Windows Vista 64-bit system out of the box. system based on bits To put it another way, it will not install. Nada. Never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never, never After discovering this, I had to go to Nuance's website (which, by the way, provides excellent support) and download the FREE 64-bit version. For version 10, there is a bit of an upgrade. 1 in order to install a functional version of the product (and, yes, to be eligible for the 10% discount). 1 upgrade for 64-bit systems You'll need a product license key if you're using a bit version of the software. which is essentially what you get when you buy version 10)). BEWARE! It takes 1 minute to download. Three gigabytes, to be exact. I'm limited to 5 GB per month, so it's not a problem if you're not close to your limit. I have broadband, and the entire download took more than 5 hours (even at a near-average 56 kbps), so be prepared if you only have DSL, and I'd say forget about it if you only have dial-up. up). ]br>br>Another box is just to the right of the box in which I am writing this review. "The Fine Print," it says. "I wish they'd put that next to the rebate offer, but I accept responsibility for not reading the fine print, which is unfortunately hidden beneath the html click where it says "Forms. " If you haven't already, you should.
