Malwarebytes has been my top choice as an AV application for years with prior versions of Windows as I've always had a paid version. I was unable to pass up the 18 month (2 device) deal for my home when I upgraded to Windows 10, after getting a 14 day free trial of Malwarebytes + the paid version of the software. The desktop I built and the Lenovo Flex my wife uses are both from me. Defender and Malwarebytes have all the capabilities I need, so I don't need a paid AV anymore. I'm not impressed with what I've seen so far. Whether the method works or not is unknown to me. As of yet, there are no problems that have been found. It either means that I have been extremely lucky and Windows Defender has handled everything thus far or Malwarebytes has done nothing so far. In order to fix the problem, I had to disable In some cases, the mouse cursor would freeze or disappear sporadically as a result. I was able to solve the issue immediately by turning off Web Protection. After turning off all four Real-Time Manager components, I found out it was this that caused the issue Protect your time with Time Protection. Each one was turned on as a standalone and then in conjunction with the others. In the current state, I have Ransomware Protection, Malware Protection, and Exploit Protection active. We will see how this works out over time. I will give it some more time. Perhaps a future update will fix my issue.

The free version is fine if you don't really surf the web. However, if you are a power user that might go to sites that are highly malware infested either by accident or on purpose then the real-time protection is its best feature.
