There is no such thing as a direct (I consider it to be the biggest flaw.
The three I just bought are all mine. My chinchilla might not see the point of giving all three to her until I open them first. I smell gasoline as soon as I open all three. Gas was not a smell I recall from my previous purchase.
Selected User Reviews For Kaytee Lava Ledge 2 Pack
There is now a very strong gasoline smell, reminiscent of those found in car garages or garages with gasoline. I am not sure if Kaytee changed manufacturers or changed their recipe. STRONG is the key word here. I smelled the smell the moment I opened the packaging, and I haven't been able to remove it despite washing several times. I also noticed that these are significantly less durable than the cascade ledge I bought a year ago and they use a different washer and screw that doesn't have the same level of sturdiness as the cascade ledge I bought last year.
As if mothballs had been thrown on the ledges. They were washed with hot water and vinegar a couple of times, soaked, and left out in the sun for a few days before they were dried. Unless you stick your nose right at it, it will still smell unless you stick your nose right to it, but after a week in the cage, it will go In the end, I didn't mind the color fading, but many people did. To not be able to use this product right away is pretty disappointing. It looks like decent ledges, and I would like to buy a couple more so my rats can jump off of them and use them to file their nails, but I just don't want to clean them again and wait another week. It has been difficult for me to find lava ledges in pet stores lately, and the reviews on Chewy mention the smell as well.
It's impossible for us to put these rats in a cage with our rats. These are meant to be chewed, and I don't believe this is a safe product to chew. The odor is so bad I can smell it Why the hell did that happen?.
My usual favorite Kaytee Lava Ledges are less than I had hoped for in this package. Due to both lava ledges being loose from the metal screws that hold them in place, they just easily dislodge from the bar. Because they are not really attached to anything, my chins can't do much with them since they just spin and swing around, so sitting on them is pretty difficult unless they want to fall off the minute they move. The idea of adding some glue to hold them to the wall has occurred to me, but since they chew on them, I do not want any glue that could be harmful to them if consumed. The chew blocks are really just big chew blocks in their cages now instead of the ledges I was hoping for. This is disappointing to.
It was so hard for me to even be in the same room with them let alone bring my small pets with me. There is a strong odor of toxic odor! Are there any quality control procedures at Kaytee. What are they like to smell? The product was returned within two days thanks to Prime and I got a refund.
Yet, what do you care if you have to return it in the end? This is one of the products I bought nearly two years ago, and I have never experienced any unpleasant smells. I couldn't stand the odor of chemical or paint on these! Leaving them open for two days to see if the smell would fade was a good idea. Not at all! My birds' health was the most important factor, so I couldn't use these products. My interest in this product has been sparked by this!.
They were just received three days ago, on May 18, 21. As a rule, I don't write reviews so soon, but I'd like to write this one. The smell is prominent, as other reviewers have mentioned, so they appear to be well made and deserving of 5 stars. There is a strong smell of mothballs or something similar to it. There is no reason why it would be needed for its production. They are unable to use it because it's too strong and acrid. There is a lot to be disappointed with. I laid them in the sun for two days, but it didn't seem to make a significant difference. The rats were very skeptical about them and I ended up baking them at 550 degrees Fahrenheit for over an hour to see if they would still work. The current state does not lead me to recommend them. There's no need to worry about it and stress over it. In general, I am not too bothered by smells, but this is an exception.
