Questions & Answers

The house seems to be quite large, however how big is it? Is there a back to it?

A chinchilla cannot live there - this house is way too small. Do not buy if you have a chinchilla at home. You can use this if you have chinchillas, but it is too small for degus or rats. There is a back to it, but you have to build it yourself

How tall is this box? Does it have a floor? Do you know if it's possible to use it as ?

Since it does not have a floor, a dust bath would not be possible. We fed our chinchillas this a lot so they chewed on it so much that a few of the walls wouldn't connect. As a result, it was a good chew toy as well as a nice place for them to sleep/sit.

What's this made of? Does it have nails? Several people seem to have had conflicting opinions about ?

It is not true I'm happy with how well it's held together. There is a lid that can be removed. When my Chinchilla is home, she loves to take off the roof and nip at it. Despite the fact that I bought it in November of last year, it looks like When he isn't sleeping on the granite stone chiller, he plays in it and sleeps in a fleece hideout I bought him. The item is liked by me and my pet as well. The reviews are conflicting, so I apologize. A jump on this causes him to run in and out of the cave. His view of it is that of a toy. My good wishes go to you. I'm sure that you will make the right decision based on your pet's needs. Here are a couple of links to help.

Do you have to replace this product after a certain amount of time?

After I broke it, I tried to put it back together again. Even without an interest in it, my chinchilla didn't seem to be interested. It ended up being thrown away so I'm not sure how long it will last.

This is a dangerous product, do not purchase
3/5

The hut I bought from Kaytee for my chinchilla was put together with nails, but this one isn't. Furthermore, I didn't realize that the nails were there until he had chewed on it a bit, so I didn't even see them. A small animal that chews can be very injured by this. Marketing a product to animals who will be injured by consuming it is completely irresponsible on the part of a company. Buying this is not a safe choice, there are many others that are.

In just hours, the chinchillas were gone
3/5

To put it simply, chinchillas are known for destroying wood, so I knew that wouldn't last. The only thing I was expecting was that it would last longer than a As a result of the pieces not being cut out properly, I had lots of difficulty assembling it. I'm not new to building stuff my whole house is furnished with stuff I bought from Ikea, and I've done some woodworking in the past. Despite the fact that this is cheap, it cracked a bit while I was putting it together because the pieces are not evenly spaced. When I finally managed to put it together, I gave it to my chinchilla, who broke two pieces in half within a few hours. In terms of how destructive he is, he is not the most destructive of his kind, but I thought that a product meant for him could withstand his wrath for a little while. Spending my money was a waste of time and There is some light at the end of the tunnel he had a fun, oddly shaped chew toy for a bit before destroying it inevitably.

It came together just fine
5/5

I like it a lot! As I read the many negative reviews, I was apprehensive, but I decided to go ahead and purchase it since Amazon has an excellent The pieces were a bit difficult to fit together, and one of the ends broke off, but the whole thing still went together nicely, and all the sides were attached by glue, even without me gluing the broken end With more space than I ever imagined, my hamster is delighted! As for chewing on wood, I don't worry about my hamster chewing on wood items in her cage, so I do not have any concern over it not being appropriate Additionally, animals in the wild do not have anyone monitoring what they are exposed to and they do just fine. We need to stop dealing with animals as though they were little.

As a hay box for Guinea Pigs, these are excellent! My guinea pigs have been needing a hay box for a long time, but all of the options I found were handmade and cost upwards of $35 plus shipping
5/5

So I looked at this and it seemed similar and it was perfect! I isolated two young female guinea pigs (from the same litter and only 2 months old they were both pregnant!) and they BOTH became The babies are growing fast and eating often, so it was quite the surprise when they made their appearance. My hay sacks would be filled between 4 and 5 times a day, so I needed something at the ready to hold a reasonable amount of hay for the horses. The perfect solution for this problem! Pieces of the puzzle fit together fairly effortlessly. Since I am using the hut upside down, the top is a good fit and took a little finagling to fit. But I'm glad it was snug and took a little finagling to get on. I use the box as a hay box for my guinea pigs, and it has been more cost-effective than other items I had considered. It holds a lot of hay, and it is easy to fill! Hay stays neatly inside the box for the most part, and it is It's also not unusual for one momma to reach up to the top and get her hay that way. I like that it has a large opening so that a number of piggies can eat at the same time. The only downside I see is that the babies can crawl inside with the hay, which I dislike because they poop in it. The problem shouldn't be such a big issue once they become bigger. The F. *. If any of you are wondering, no, I am not planning on keeping all six. I just need to wait until they are old enough to separate from their mothers, and then they will be adopted into new families. Also, I am taking them to the vet to be sexed as soon as possible to prevent this in the future.

This is a piece of junk, don't waste your money
3/5

It would have been nice to have assembled the furniture as soon as I bought it, so I could return it to the seller. It didn't fit properly the first time I assembled it, so I snapped a piece of wood off one side (the top) as I attempted to assemble it. The Hut is still a little hut my chinchillas can use, so I decided to disregard it. I tried to put it in their cage, but they couldn't even fit. The only thing they did was sit on top. Chinchillas aren't even fully grown yet either according to my thinking! She is 7 months old and smaller than the other, and I have never seen her go inside. The food was put inside to get her to come in and she ended up picking it up to eat while she was outside. I think these are way too small to house I would go as far as calling this picture false advertising because it is extremely misleading.

Suitable for Syrian hamsters of all sizes
5/5

First, I would like to mention that one of my Syrian hamsters is living in a Chin Hut. always have no idea what I'll get until it arrives. The price was right and it was wooden and covered with hide. I didn't realize I would have to set it up, but I honestly had no intention of doing so. All the pieces slide into place with ease, but not so easily that they come undone. In the worst case, you might need to reach for a hammer in order to guide things in the right direction. As I get a better understanding of the 2019 reviewer's claim, I'm trying to identify where the nails were located. made entirely of wood and not of any pre-made material Having been assemble. It's possible they've made changes to this product in the meantime? 2021 was the year I purchased mine. Although it isn't cleaning day, I have given my Syrian her new hide because we're still in the middle of cleaning day, and I had so much love for it that her sister had to get it too. The second Chin Hut I just placed an order for. Despite being an extremely large hide for a hamster, I find that it's perfect for them. I think it would be a little cramped for a chinchilla unless they are used to The new huts are fabulous, but I don't know whether my girls will chew on them, but I am sure they will The waiting is killing me, and I will keep you posted.
