Questions & Answers

Is it safe for hedgehogs to eat it?

This is not something I would recommend for a hedgehog who does not have access to a roof. Overnight, one of my hedgehogs got away. The cage lid was not included in the version of this that I bought.

Is there enough room in this cage for two fully grown adult guinea pigs?

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) suggests a number of ten. 2 guinea pigs in a 5 square foot space This isn't a particularly big cage. is only suitable for one guinea pig, not two, but because guinea pigs are social animals, they should always be kept in pairs. If you want two pigs, you should get two of these and connect them or make a C. C cage. C& When you build your own Cs (rather than buying one from a kit), they're not that expensive. You'll need something much bigger if you have two or more piggies. People who keep more than two pigs in one of these are putting them in an unjust situation.

What's the best way to clean the cage's bedding?

We tried using disposable puppy training pads at first, but they were too expensive (the cage is 8 square feet). Then I went out and bought a stack of fleece in the right size (for $1.50). Walmrt sells it for 97 cents per yard (double layered). We replace the fleece every evening by taking it outside, shaking it out, and placing it in a separate basket. When the basket is completely full (approximately every 5-minutes), We wash the fleece after 6 days.

Is there a place where you can get a new liner? A portion of it has been consumed by my guinea pigs. ?

These canvas cages serve no purpose. Guinea pigs can easily chew through that canvas, and if they eat it, it can cause them digestive problems. I recommend getting C. Making your own C panels is a great way to save money. On Amazon, you can get a set for a low price. If you just want to keep the cage bars you already have, get some coroplast and put it on the bottom and up the sides; it bends and cuts easily with a small utility knife. C cage grids as a bottom underneath and zip tie it to the cage bars you already have and put the coroplast right on top of it; you can even put some of the grids underneath that and raise the cage off the floor and make storage underneath it. This is something I've done with my guinea pigs (I have two). The c cage is 5 x 2 and has 2 huts, 2 foot bowls, 1 hay basket (which they share well), and 3 tunnels where they can run and chase each other. There are also chew toys strewn about the place. They appear to be content, and once I move to a larger space and can add on, I'll be able to provide them with even more grids.

This cage has made me very happy
5/5

So far, this cage has proven to be ideal for our two Guinea pigs, who are ecstatic. They've been all the rage lately. Since the moment we got this, we've been corning. This is a large item that is easy to clean and move, but only gently. We set up a table for veg time and were able to turn the door in any direction we wanted. Because it was their first time on a ramp, they mastered it quickly. The space is ideal for two people, and the local pet store had it for twice the price of Amazon, so I'm glad I did my research. They could use a new ramp cover so they could go outside, but overall it was a five-star experience.

and when we got them and put them together (which was a breeze)
5/5

We did a lot of research before purchasing this cage, and once we got them and set them up (which was a breeze! ), we were very pleased. ) It was exactly what I had hoped for from the ad! We initially ordered three, but ended up ordering a fourth because one of our pigs has a lot of energy and we wanted to make sure she had enough space to run around. br>br>At first, we were hesitant to use fleece because we assumed it would stink! ), but everything is going swimmingly. On the bottom of the cages, we have a layer of puppy training pads, one layer of absorbable fleece, and one more layer of colored fleece (that we sweep up and change every day) on top of that, and we only have to clean the cages thoroughly once a week. It will only take you about 20 minutes to complete this task! You can connect the cages together or keep them separate, which is great! Esther, my pig, does not get along with the other pigs, but she can socialize and be close to them without getting into trouble. The other four pigs have three cages in which they can run around and play, one of which has shavings in it and is used to store their food hay (keeping the fleece cleaner!). br>br>Overall, the cages have exceeded our expectations! They're performing even better than expected, and our pigs are raving about them: I would strongly advise any pig owner to do so!.

Avoid Problems in Negative Reviews with This Simple Tip! We've had this habitat for about three months, and I must admit that some of the negative reviews surprised me
5/5

Then a quick glance at the photo reminded me that I decided to put the flooring inside the cage rather than outside. I "chose" because I was pressed for time and didn't think of doing it any other way. )br>br>Putting aside ignorance, there are some advantages to attaching the bottom this way:

- Because the bars are all outside of the lining, I don't need to remove the canvas bottom to clean it.
- There isn't a chance that any kind of mold will grow. I'm guessing mold grows between the wire and the wall for people who have it. We make our own canvas liners and spray them with diluted vinegar (wipe) every time we need to replace them. I use a drop of Dawn in the spray bottle for a more thorough cleaning, then wipe everything down and let it air dry for a few minutes. There were no problems at all.
- Our quickie for the day The cleaning routine (with vinegar) only takes a few minutes, and there is no staining.
- Outside the cage, I still use the velcro strips. I'm not sure they'd be able to eat them. It's also a very strong connection. The wheekers will never be able to get between the canvas and the walls, which are far from frail.
- I believe that not stretching the canvas as much reduces the risk of leaks at our seams. Everything is in its proper place. br>br>I hope that this information is useful! I'll upload a photo as soon as I can.

Cage of the Year! The most affordable price! The Midwest Cages are without a doubt the best cages for Guinea Pigs on the market
5/5

C is a custom made item for me. C cages were available, but none of them compared to the ease and quality of these cages. We'll always be cage owners in the Midwest!.

Cage is pretty good
3/5

Three and a half stars I got this cage yesterday, and I'm happy with it so far. There are a few advantages and disadvantages to consider before making your purchase-
Pros: br> It is possible to expand it. If you get this when your piggies are babies and they grow larger, or if you add another member to the family and need more space, you can buy another cage to add onto it instead of buying a new product. br> Affordably priced. This habitat is significantly less expensive than the majority of other cages on the market. br> It's bigger than almost any cage you'll find in a pet store, giving them more freedom to run around and socialize.
Cons:
- Canvas is used for the bottom, which is less durable than other materials. It can crumple up on the sides, especially if the velcro straps aren't properly aligned. I was concerned that it wouldn't be firm enough when used on my carpet rather than a hard surface, but it seems to be holding up well as long as I tighten the straps.
- Because the sides are shallow, unless you plan to use fleece over pee pads, this could be a problem if/when the cavies kick up the bedding and their "little brown magic beans" onto your floor.
- The horizontal bars for the water bottle are at an awkward height, leaving you with the option of having the drinking end an inch off the ground or several inches up, but my piggies seem to be fine with the latter option.
- It's a little flimsy, but that's easily remedied by putting it in the corner, as I did.
- It isn't as large as it might be. If your guinea pig is an aggressive male or one of your pets has died, this is ideal for a single cavy. It's also ideal for a pair of guinea pigs that are still growing. If you've got two or more full-time employees, A second cage would be ideal (but not absolutely necessary) for grown guinea pigs. It all depends on how well-cared for your children are. Pbr>Overall, I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend this cage to anyone on a budget who wants happy and healthy guinea pigs. <3.
