Questions & Answers

What is the shelf life of a 10lb bag for a young rabbit?

The amount of food your bunny consumes will affect how big it is. My bunny wastes food just as much as I do. However, I only have a little over a quarter bag left and I received my bag on June 1st. It is worth the money to buy the 10lb bag. Please accept my sincere thanks.

In what ways is this product different from Oxbow animal health alfalfa hay, 9-to-12 lbs?

A pelleted diet for young rabbits, Essentials Young Rabbit (formerly Bunny Basics) is fortified with vitamins and minerals. Pigeons aged between 12 and 18 months need a specific diet to meet their nutritional needs of their young rabbits. Oxbow's tasty, balanced pellets are designed specifically for them. A month. In addition to providing optimal protein content for optimum digestion, as well as additional micronutrients and a higher caloric value necessary to support a growing rabbit, the Essentials Young Rabbit provides a high caloric content and is based on alfalfa. Hay that is 9 pounds in weight is simply loose The inclusion of loose alfalfa hay in the daily diet of young animals should be carried out in small quantities every day, along with unlimited quantities of grass hay (such as Western Timothy, Oat, Orchard, Botanical, etc.). I am very grateful for your kindness

If it is recommended for a pregnant or lactating doe, should it be given?

Due to the presence of alfalfa in it, alfalfa can be used by pregnant women and lactating mothers. Alfalfa is the main ingredient of young rabbit food since rabbits need the nutrients that grow and gain a healthy weight. The package also has a recommendation of how much to feed.

3/5

In this Public Service Announcement, Oxbow reveals that they have changed the ingredients on this product. In spite of nothing being said to their customers, Oxbow changed the packaging and ingredients of this product. Even though the new product packaging and name were introduced at least three months ago, the old name and packaging are still being used on web sites, including Amazon. you are seeing here is not actually the one you will receive. Attached are photos of the old bag and the new bag that show the ingredients and guaranteed analysis. There is a sensitivity to stomach acid in rabbits. The new bag of food should be treated as a completely new food and you must gradually switch over your bunny over the course of several weeks so they don't get sick if they are currently eating the old formula. The following comparisons may be useful This bag does not count towards the old bag total. The max calcium for each bag is 85%* New bag = 0 It no longer indicates the amount of salt in the food and how much copper is in it. The old bag shows 19000 min IU/kg Vitamin A and the new bag shows 10,000 min IU/kg Vitamin A. Wheat Middlings are the third ingredient in the old bag.
* The list is now higher with Soybean Meal and Cane Molasses coming in at the top of the list. Limestone and iron sulfate have been removed entirely. As of January 1, 2009, Dehydrated Yeast Culture has been replaced with Hydrolyzed Yeast culture. Consequently, I have written Oxbow to inquire whether the products are the same because I was not able to verify the ingredients and analysis. According to their response, they said Please accept our sincere thanks for taking the time to contact Oxbow regarding our new pellet bag labels and your concerns. The packaging has been updated to better represent the food, but the formula has not changed the same Adult Rabbit food(BBT) you have been feeding remains the same. Whenever possible, we recommend switching from bag to bag, as Timothy hay and other sources of macronutrients in the food are products of Mother Nature, and can occasionally cause some small variations in flavor or color. Hopefully this helps to answer your questions and concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact me if there is anything else I can do. Nevertheless, they recommend you transition from bag to bag because of "Mother Nature" even though the product has changed. This is Oxbow Would you consider this type of treatment a good way to treat your customers? It would be a shame if your customers weren't informed if one of your products had changed its ingredients, especially an animal so sensitive to food changes as a bunny is? It is not necessary to hide it by saying that only the packaging has changed.

It is very popular with my bunny
5/5

The Oxbow Adult rabbit food is what I have always fed to my 9-pound I've been feeding him this for the past two months, as it's what the rabbit rescue where I adopted him feeds to all their adult rabbits, and they recommend that adopters continue feeding it. The approval of a savvy veterinarian This is good news for me. Each of my bunny's meals consists of 1/8 cup twice a day (so 1/4 cup total a day) in a PetSafe SlimCat food ball that he rolls around picking up and tossed to get out his pellets. It's pellet time here for this little dude. He knows exactly when I will be dropping pellets. He binkies enthusiastically when I bring the ball into his room. A side note Timothy hay and Orchard grass hay are also available, as well as a handful of oat hay each day. He treats himself with a freeze dried cranberry, 1/2 tea spoon of chamomile flowers, and one Oxbow Veggie Treat cookie. One month ago, he went to the vet and the little guy is doing just fine. The fact that he's a senior citizen hasn't dampened his zest for life in the least. Buying from Amazon is not always the best way to get the most economical price because its price fluctuates. Make sure you shop at a few other reputable pet supply companies before making your order.

My poor rabbit has been eating
3/5

It makes me sad to think about it. The pellet I just found has a piece of metal in it! I like how sharp it is! The thought that my poor rabbit has been eating this and that I have only discovered the horrible quality of the product so late makes me sad. Oxbow products have been my go-to choice (for over a year now), but I will not purchase them after this.

The benefits of giving your bunny this are obvious, and I know it because I have used it
5/5

My 7th bunny is on its way. Since I have had one for the last thirty years (sometimes two at the same time), I know for sure that timothy pellets are the best. A bunny that is older than six months should not be given the alpha. This is much cheaper, and you will probably need to take your bunny to a vet for tummy problems in the future, so you will make up the cost These were the ONLY rations I fed to my bunnies, with hay and greens. They all lived 12 years or longer I lived until I was at least 8 years old, while my other ones lived to be at least 13 The child is nine. The first time I bought Alpha, I had no idea what I was doing. I had a lot of problems with the bunny's tummy. You can give your bunny this pellet if you want. My word is your bond!.

My bun has been booted
3/5

I'm not sure what's going on with this product right now, but my bun won't By kicking over the bowl and spilling out the pellets, he actually gets annoyed that I'm even feeding him, and brings his food bowl to the front door of his hutch so that I can throw it out. There is a difference between the smell and texture of these seeds. Perhaps an old one? It does not seem to be what I wanted, so I will be returning it.

It's great to get products from Oxbow Rabbit
5/5

We feed our two dogs Oxbow rabbit pellets and they love them. Our research showed that by maintaining a healthy diet (high in Timothy Hay instead of Alfalfa) you can prevent unnecessary illnesses and accelerated aging Visits to the vet can be very costly. Furthermore, they must be physically active and be protected from harm You need to pay attention to us and interact I am unable to speak to the taste, but when you provide them the correct amount of hay, pellets, and water, the animals are happy When rabbits are provided with fresh veggies, they will consume them. In the past, one of our bunnies has eaten One of the only times he had visited a vet in his 8-year life, for neutering. Oxbow took a competitive stance by reducing the price of the product recently. Thanks for taking this step. Customers appreciate it and we will continue to offer it The more affordable it is, the more likely it can be recommended.

I am very pleased with the quality of this rabbit It was unfortunate that I had two bunnies who were on their last legs because I was new to them
5/5

I'm glad the story ended in happiness! Each of the two animals suffered from severe respiratory infections, but one was also extremely malnourished due to the runt of the litter whose food was not available to him. In the aftermath of vet care and during recovery, the little ones never rejected this food, or showed any signs of being resistant to it. Instead, they grew out of it, gained weight, and returned to good health. There is a great variety of adult varieties, which I highly recommend.
