Is it possible for a guinea pig to consume as much hay in a month as it would like to? While I know that these rates vary, it would be helpful to get a rough idea. ?

I am very conservative when it comes to feeding the guinea pig making sure I do not give her more than she will eat (otherwise the hay becomes hard after a few days) and I usually go through one bag per month (she only has one pig).

DO NOT buy it. It used to be my Guinea pigs' favorite brand, but I refuse to buy it now after finding so many horrible things inside It has eaten things like giant dead bugs, rocks, and in the past, what looks like a dead bird. I have nightmares about what else may be in there they will attempt to If this problem can not be fixed, please do everything you can to fix it! There is a reason I cannot buy this brand anymore and I am very disappointed.

There are some good and some dangerous things out there
3/5

Oxbow hay was the hay I assumed was the best in the market, and I hope I am wrong on this. It has been about five years since I first used this hay There have been periods of high quality and low quality over the last six months. The last bag I used was a disaster, and I'm sure my guinea pig could have died from it. I noticed that my allergies began acting up as soon as I opened the bag. Neither of my sisters said they were sneezing in their previous bags, and neither of them noticed any difference in theirs. There is no allergy risk with either one. After feeding this hay to my three guinea pigs, one of them died without a known cause of death, and the third started itching without any explanation. After the other passed, I took the two others to the vet, and she said they might have mites. I had never thought it was related, but now it's clear. My first thought was that it must have been something in the cage, so I cleaned it up. For reasons unrelated to the cage, I moved it to the dining room/living room. Soon after that, my sister (roommate) and I began itch and she began complaining of bites she had all over her body on one side. Her bites were all on the left side of her body while she was sleeping on her right side of the couch. When I opened the hay bag today, I forgot to close it a few minutes later, we noticed lots of unidentified INSECTS fluttering The itching I experienced, as well as that of my sister and the guinea pigs, was most likely caused by those insects. My guinea pig died because of the hay 80% of the time. Despite her long fur, it would have been very easy for bugs to get inside. In addition to being devasted by her passing, I am furious that a brand I thought could be trusted has harmed us in this manner. add insult to injury, the hay consists mostly of sticks and it wasn't worth the money since much of what the horse ate had to be refilled constantly. It is my sincere request that this company put in more thought into what they put in You should be careful when feeding your friends hay. Make sure you inspect it thoroughly first.

Rodent with a side of hay
3/5

I found the experience strange. The hay in this area is usually fine. In one bag, I had bunnies who did not like it because it was old and didn't seem to be of good quality. I then downloaded the latest version of the program. In the middle of the bag was a dead mouse. The first thing I thought was that I was playing with my mind. There was no height to it. Although I was unable to tell what it was, it had a smashed face with little mouse teeth sticking out, and a Mouse is a sad creature. As for the product, I've been buying it for years, and have been relatively happy with it. In the future, I'll likely buy it again, mostly for There are places in the Bay Area that sell hay at half as much as I can get it here, but I would have to drive several cities to get to one with limited business hours. Just don't be surprised if you pull a rodent out of a bag.

This item was sent to the wrong address! In spite of the fact that I have repeatedly ordered this package from you and never had a problem, this time we received what looks like a bale of hay, which says it is 25 lbs! The hay is extremely hard and crunchy
3/5

Had I ordered only a 40 ounce bag, I would normally be happy for more to be included for free. Intensive picky guinea pigs require a variety of hay, so I order the Oxbow Western Timothy hay 40 ounce bag which is marketed as a cross between crunchy and soft. I see now that not only did they send me the wrong item, but I also cannot return it. Hay that is too crunchy will not be eaten. There is no sense in spending money on something so absurd. There are 25lbs of hay that my guinea just won't touch so I don't know what to do with it. I must have bought the wrong product at Amazon. Either send me the correct item or I must receive a refund. Thank you so much for being such a loyal Amazon Prime.

It makes me sick to my stomach that new packaging is so ugly
3/5

It is the same 90 ounces of hay squeezed into a smaller bag, and it will not After purchasing guinea pigs for the first time in May, we've used Oxbow Timothy hay to great success - they are healthy and happy! Although some reviewers have said that the products' quality is good in past posts, we have had a pleasant experience with them. A new package was then introduced by Oxbow. Because the bag size is smaller for the same amount of hay, the hay is crammed so tightly that it literally sticks to the bag. If you want to remove a reasonable amount, you have to battle with it so much. We're going through a horrible time. Also, I was worried about the quality because the tight packaging damaged the hay by crushing it into smaller pieces and producing more hay dust and crumbs.

This seller sells inedible hay
3/5

Do not do business with him. I feed this hay to my pig every day! It doesn't spread its contents around the cage, it just eats them! been ordering from Amazon for about a year, and I never gave much thought to who was supplying the goods until I received You can just see how nasty and dry it is. Despite her desire to eat it, she doesn't eat Since I last bought this bag from Amazon LLC, I have not purchased from them. The seller is not trustworthy. Give them a wide berth.

With scissors, open the package carefully! I accidentally ripped off the seal of the bag when I opened the package with the provided tear line
5/5

I carefully packed up the hay into gallon-sized bags in order to keep it fresh. As soon as I started putting everything in the bags, it was clear that this would be quite a job! Since my work avoided crisis and I was pleased with my performance, I left the bags out as I carried on The surprise my husband felt when he found all these bags spread across the dining room floor after he returned home from work was unbelievable! I guess he didn't stick with Timothy Hay at first. New hay is a big hit with the guinea pigs. Every handful I touched was fragrant and there was hardly any dust or broken pieces. After getting up close and personal with these products, I can attest to their freshness. The product I purchased was excellent - I will be purchasing again Utilize scissors as well!.

What a mess! It used to be very inexpensive and had good quality, but now I find the price is increasing and the quality has decreased
3/5

Normally, my guinea pigs' cages are lined with fleece, but lately the pieces of hay in their cage have become sharp and hard and have become engrained in the fabric. I find it extremely uncomfortable for my guinea pigs since it gets trapped in the fleece. My process of washing cloth involves physically pulling out the pieces from the cloth before I wash it. There are still some local suppliers I'd like to work with but I'm disappointed.
