Questions & Answers
If you look it up, it says that giving your hamster that is not a good idea.
In this case, we recommend contacting Amazon.
Timothy Hay could be a part of it. Guinea pigs can be poisoned by anything, including seeds. This bag also contains some strange, mysterious food chunks. "Oxbow adult guinea pig food" is the brand I use and it's a great high-quality fortified food. I highly recommend it and my guinea pigs love it.
Personally, I agree, but my guinea pigs love it, so I'll make sure they get it regardless! If you think it's too much, switch to a different brand!!

My veterinarian told me flat out that this was the equivalent of daily McDonald's feeding for my guinea pig. Don't be fooled by the bright colors and varied shapes into thinking you're giving your piggle something nutritious and enjoyable. I had no idea how bad this food is because there is so much powder in the bag until I switched to Oxbow Essentials and saw that there was no powdery crap anywhere. Not to mention that my daughters adore their Oxbow! They were always digging around for the pieces they wanted with this fiesta nonsense, and they ate about half as much as they do now that we've switched. Make sure you don't make the same blunder that I did. It isn't that much more expensive, after all.
This 25-pound bag of food is reasonably priced, but it contains a number of ingredients that a guniea pig should avoid. Peanuts will make them fat, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and sesame seeds can get stuck in their chompers and cause choking, and cracked corn can fracture your pet's teeth and cause a variety of problems in the future when they try to eat. I don't feel comfortable feeding them this because the pack contains a lot of things that a guniea pig shouldn't eat. It may appeal to your guinea pig, but it is potentially harmful to them! This is a complete squander of funds! You are purchasing at your own risk.
Is there a new protein source for pigs? I felt what I thought was a very sticky spider web when I first opened the 25 pound bag and put my hand inside. I noticed that the food was completely interlaced with the stuff, and that most of the pellets appeared to have been pre-chewed into dust, so I figured it must have been banged around in delivery and poured about 1/4 of the bag into a storage container to keep it fresh. My daughter called me three days later to say there were caterpillars on the wall near the storage container and guinea pig pen. This surprised me because it was October, but upon closer inspection, I discovered hundreds of crawly maggots on my walls, floor, and ceiling. We cleaned everything up, surveyed all nooks and crannies, and assumed we were all set, oblivious to their appearance because we keep a tidy pen. After another four days, my daughter calls me again, saying, "Mom, the maggots are back, and there are even more!" " It's the same thing twice! When I opened the big bag of Kaytee food this time, there were so many maggots in it that we could see the food moving! Our storage container was the same way. . . absolutely crawling with maggots, wicked sticky webs, and tiny moths. Having grown up on a farm, I understand that farm feed can't be completely pest-free, but this was beyond my wildest expectations. I can't believe these were crawling and gnawing on my guinea pigs. I'm in a bad mood. br>br>Stick to the non-alcoholic beverages. If you don't want free Halloween decor and subpar food, buy in bulk.
I did some research (as I do with almost everything I buy) and read a lot of reviews, and it seemed like a mixed bag, so I decided to give it a shot. Many people commented on how much they liked the colors and textures of the various pieces in this mix. In my case, the packaging, shipping speed, and amount of product in the bag were all excellent, but none of that mattered because my guinea pigs refused to eat it. I literally had to dash to the pet store the same day I got this to purchase the Oxbow. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but my piggies completely ignored this. They wouldn't touch it (and they eat everything!). Katee, I apologize for the inconvenience.
This is not a food I would give to my guinea pigs. This is my first time buying it, and the Guinea pigs seem to waste a lot of the food. My guinea pigs only took what they wanted out of it, such as their favorite treats and pellets, and then dumped the rest of the food out of the bowl without touching it! It's definitely not a good guinea pig food mix because my piggies won't eat half of what's in there, so it's a waste of money. My advice is to choose a solid pellet food. Solid pellet foods have never been an issue for me, but adding other ingredients has always been a problem for my piggies. In addition, when I revived the box, it had a hole in it, allowing some of the food to spill out of the bag.
It looked great until I opened it. I'm not sure who was the issue, but he appeared to be filthy and mothy. Was appropriately dated. The warehouses may have become too hot. Fearful of being fed, they were thrown out. When I contacted Kaytee, they were extremely professional and courteous, and they agreed to refund my money rather than return it to Amazon. It's funny because I had problems with some regular Kaytee from Chewy a year ago. It was simply refused by the pigs. They eat almost any other brand, including some Wally World products. Because I'm a breeder, I have to be cautious. Don't get me wrong, Kaytee is usually a great brand, but this may have been a one-time occurrence. I couldn't figure out how to "rate," so I went with a middle score.
My guinea pig enjoys it, but I discovered three large rocks in this bag and will not be ordering it again. My pig is an elderly gentleman with cataracts in one eye, and who knows if he would have hurt his teeth if I hadn't caught these. There will be no risk.
