Questions & Answers

Is it safe for hermit crabs to consume this?

I have a few, and because of their small size, they can quickly heat up with high-watt bulbs or provide only a little heat with lower-watt bulbs. As long as your enclosure's lid is a metal screen, the answer is yes. Anything else is going to melt.

Is it possible to put this inside a terrarium?

This item was not intended to be suspended inside an enclosure, in my opinion. It would be difficult to accomplish this. It is not something I would suggest. The lamp's entire surface is scorching hot. Because of the bulb, if you couldn't guarantee that your animal wouldn't come into contact with it, your animal would be harmed.

Will a 60 watt uvb light bulb for a snake work with this?

No, I believe it is only for mini halogen bulbs.

With black paint, you can lower the temperature
5/5

These dome fixtures are fantastic in terms of size and quality. I've purchased ten in the last year. Both the 25w and 50w zilla heat lamps work well with them. If you have a smaller tank and don't require as much heat, you can get a 25w and reduce the heat by painting the underside black. For two small kingsnakes, I recently purchased two short tanks. The lamps' heat output at 25 watts was in the high 90s. I required a temperature of at least 80 degrees Fahrenheit. The chrome reflector was painted black with Krylon black enamel spray paint, which reduced the temperature to just above 80 degrees. br>All you have to do is unscrew the two screws, pull the base out far enough to tape it, spray paint it, then remove the tape and reinstall the screws. It's very simple. You could probably do this with just tape and spray paint if you have small fingers. br>With the decrease in heat, my kingsnakes appear to be happier. A heat gun is a must-have for me. It made me aware of conditions that I had previously been unaware of. My snakes have developed a stronger affection for me.

You're too intent! While basking, I burned my reptile! Because this bulb concentrates the heat in such a small area, my poor skink got burned while basking! The 50 watt bulb heated up to the same temperature as a 100 watt basking bulb, but only in a very small space
3/5

It's a good thing I caught it before it killed my pet. The best way to describe this quickly returned fixture is as if it were sunlight magnified!.

Love it! I'd never owned a reptile heat lamp before, and I debated whether or not to buy this one (between another Zilla product that is a larger 8" lamp with non-replaceable bulbs and a larger 8" lamp with replaceable bulbs)
5/5

Halogen lights). This one worried me because it was going to be too small. The terrarium in which my ball python lives is a 40-gallon aquarium. breeder. I chose this one after reading numerous reviews; I bought two of them, one for her red (night) bulb and the other for her white (day) bulb. They've made me very happy! They produce a lot of light and heat, and they use less energy. Traditional lamps are less efficient. I particularly like that these lamps come with spring clips to keep them in place in your terrarium - I have a cat, so I appreciate the fact that she can't knock these lamps over and start a fire, and they also stay put when I need to remove the terrarium lid! I've attached some images to show you how nice they are. Just a reminder: br>br> If the spring clips are missing from your dome lamp, you can and should return or replace it! As I previously stated, I ordered two of these and one of them did not come with the spring clips, so I was able to return it and have a replacement sent to me. The spring clips are absolutely necessary for the lamp's safety!.

A fantastic purchase! It was money well spent
5/5

You'll be taken aback by it. My ball python's new large cage (36x36x18 exo terra terrarium) was proving difficult to keep warm. With the top I have, those big lights wouldn't have worked, and I think they're ugly. I figured there was nothing to lose by experimenting with this small light. I'd simply return it if it didn't work. I absolutely adore it! This tiny light produces a significant amount of heat! I've had it for about 5 months and am still on the original bulb. However, I recommend purchasing a backup to ensure that your beloved reptile does not become ill while you wait for a replacement. A fantastic purchase!.

More cost-effective and environmentally friendly These are fantastic little lamps
5/5

I have two, and one of them was a gift to a friend. They are excellent energy savers in my opinion. space-saving and effective fixtures that help you save money They attach to mesh terrarium lids securely, allowing you to lift the lid without moving the lamp. Because of their small size, they can be placed inside a variety of enclosures, making them more versatile than their larger counterparts when it comes to creating basking/hot spots or lighting effects. br>The fifty-first is a significant milestone in the history of the United States. For desert critters and large enclosures, watt bulbs are a good choice. Smaller aquariums or tropical animals will benefit from the 25W bulbs. They produce a lot of heat and last an incredibly long time for such small bulbs. long-lasting and enduring The bulbs are available in three colors: red, white, and day blue. Someday, I'd like a dark/moon/purple bulb, for dark-skinned people. dwellers.

I was able to reduce my energy costs by a third
5/5

I purchased two of these to replace other fixtures in my 40 gallon terrarium with Bearded Dragons. I like that these take up less space, are lighter on the metal screen (bowing down less), and have spring clips to keep the fixture in place when I need to move or lift my screen top open. I was able to reduce my energy consumption by a third by purchasing these along with an 18" strip light for a UVA/UVB T8 Bulb. This is something I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to reduce their carbon footprint and refresh their household items.

But it's not perfect
4/5

This is a fantastic little lamp. It significantly raises the temperature of my tank, and it comes with a bracket that you can hook onto your screen top to keep it in place. The only issue is with the included hardware, which is meant to allow you to raise the lamp slightly higher. NONE of the screws that came with the kit worked. I could understand if one of the arms didn't fit after being painted, but none of the screws did. It's not the end of the world because I can simply enlarge the holes, but it is inconvenient.

I really like the size, and it's very functional
5/5

This was purchased for my Texas spiny lizard, who is kept in a simple 10 gallon aquarium with a Zilla 20x10 screen cover. CBconcept's 40 watt G9 bulbs (10 pack, 500 lumens, 2700K) were purchased to save money. The temperature at the bottom of my aquarium rises to 108 degrees when I place the dome on the screen cover (11" from bulb). which is excessively hot When I use the included stands, the dome is 15" from the aquarium's bottom, and the temperature reaches 99 degrees. My lizard must still leave the basking spot to cool off at that temperature before returning. Which is probably fine because it keeps him busy. br>br>I like the dome, but I wish I had purchased 25 watt bulbs so that it could rest directly on the screen cover rather than sticking up 3 inches above it. If my lizard collection grows, I'll get some more of these.
