Yes, as long as the distance is correct; it can't be too close to overheat them, but it also can't be too far away to be ineffective; I use it to keep my tortoises warm.
If you put this directly on the glass, the heat from the bulbs could shatter it. However, there are hooks on the top of the fixture that allow you to suspend it above the glass so that it does not touch it. You can either buy a lamp stand or make one yourself to hang the fixture above your enclosure. Another option is to get a plant hanger/hook and attach it to the wall above your enclosure before hanging the light fixture from it. I hope this information is useful or at the very least provides you with some ideas.
It is dependent on the tank's size.
The 160w sola glow bob will not be able to use it.

Do not use a CFL and an incandescent light source at the same time! The heat from the incandescent bulb will burn out the CFL if you use a basking bulb and an incandescent (CFL) UVB bulb together in a reflector like this, as I discovered the hard way. CFLs aren't made to withstand that much heat. The picture shows it being used this way, but doing so will shorten the life of your CFL bulbs; mine burned out in less than a week. I determined that having a separate reflector for the CFL UVB bulb and two lower wattage basking lamps with three separate timers would be a good solution. The lower-powered UVB lamp is turned on first, followed by the lower-powered basking lamp 30 minutes later. The UVB bulb and one of the basking bulbs are on all day, but the second basking bulb is only on for a few hours in the middle of the day to simulate high noon in the desert. Being bombarded with intense light from morning to evening is not natural, and I imagine it is quite stressful for an animal. How would you feel if you were jolted awake every morning by a spotlight?.
Off the clock firefighter! Imagine the call I would have received if I hadn't been at home! These lamps literally caught fire, along with the materials around them; fortunately, I had them on a surge protector. If you email me, I will inform you that this product is unsafe. I emailed Amazon, and all they said was to contact the seller. Since then, no one has apologized or attempted to exchange the product, despite the fact that MY FAMILY'S LIFE HAD BEEN PUT IN DANGER! This isn't a prank call: I'm married and have three kids! Due to a faulty product, my apartment would have definitely caught fire, so I'm just spreading the word for your family's safety. Take a look at the video to see what I'm talking about.
This is ideal because one side has a basking lamp and the other has a UVB heat emitter for warmth at night. The temperature rises quickly. The lamps are controlled by a smart switch that alternates between turning on and off at sunrise and sunset. This is exactly what I was looking for!.
I'm not sure how long the product will last or how much heat it will produce. I can tell you that using high-wattage bulbs in this is probably not a good idea. The bulbs began to flicker as soon as I plugged mys in. There are two switches, one for each lamp side, and only one of mine worked, indicating that the product was defective; however, after fiddling with it for a while, all of the power came from one switch. That's still faulty, and because of the flickering, I don't think this is a safe product. I'd just get a Zoo Med double dome and put up with it. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> I used a lower wattage and it worked for a few months before the switch completely broke. Get the Zoo med dome and be done with it; the wiring and product are both shoddy. Also, I'm pretty sure this isn't a good idea. Black and burnt ceramic surrounds the bulb connection. With the zoo med domes, I haven't had that problem. It's a $20 difference, just by the Zoo med, and I think this is ultimately a huge fire hazard.
Getting the light bulbs out after they've been installed is a real pain. Every time I try to replace a burned bulb, I end up breaking another. Then you'll need needle nose pliers to get the last few pieces out. It's just cheaply made, but if you don't mind doing it every time, it'll work fine.
There is a surge protector. This dual lamp appeals to me because it simplifies the heating/lighting setup and provides separate on/off switches on each side. When my power went out and the unit didn't turn on when it was turned back on, I assumed it had broken. When it is turned off abruptly, it has some sort of delay function. It's fine to turn off the lamps with the button, but in the event of a power outage, it'll take 30 seconds to a minute to turn back on. If you're in a similar situation, this is just a heads-up. Overall, it's a great product that is a little pricey but looks and functions well.
It's a big hit with the bearded dragon. He can bask whenever he wants and leave a heated area whenever he wants. The lights are close enough that he can get away from the heat when he needs to, but warm enough that he will never be cold.
I had read some negative reviews about this product and was hesitant to order one without seeing it in person, but it appeared to be exactly what I needed in photos, so I ignored the negative reviews. And, fortunately for me, it works perfectly; I'll almost certainly purchase another.
