Yes, and it will last much longer than a regular light bulb.
Yes! I just got it today and switched my heating light bulb over to it, and it smells like it's been burned! I'm hoping it doesn't catch fire and destroy my home.
Our infrared bulb (ir-) is a device that emits heat in the infrared spectrum. 3000- 10000 nanometers is a measurement of the size of a molecule.

My restless reptile pal has developed a habit of tossing and turning all night, making a lot of noise, and has become grumpy during the day. She now sleeps through the night after I replaced the red heat light with this non-light emitting light bulb that I use at night. br>I'd get those cage protector things that encase the bulb if it's inside the terrerium. br>br>UPDATE 4/2/20br> I wasn't kidding when I said this thing was hot. This isn't a complaint; it's a safety reminder. br> I was putting the light fixture with the ceramic bulb in it face down on a wooden shelf while working on my skinks' terrarium. It was set to turn on at 7:00 p. m. on a timer. I work from 3 to 10 p. m. , and when I returned home, I was startled by the faint sound of a smoke detector alarm. I took my time because I didn't think it was me, and as I approached the door, the alarm grew louder, and when I opened it, the top half of my house was filled with smoke. I had no idea where it came from at the time. After 40 minutes, stop. I eventually realized it was that after climbing up into my attic. br> Now, because I'm an idiot, this isn't a criticism of the product; it's fantastic. Just be cautious about where you place it.
For my Bearded Dragon, this is without a doubt the best heat lamp I've ever used. I have a traditional light that I use only during the day, and this ceramic heating lamp has helped her become more active. She went from being slow and often hiding in her home with the heating light bulbs when she was 11 years old to being out and active like I've never seen before at 11 years old. She likes it. br>br> I enjoy seeing her in the role of hunter once more.
" They fit in the same ceramic socket / fixture as a regular heat bulb, so you won't need anything special for your brooder. Simply replace your red or white heat bulbs with these. We won't be returning! For scale, that's a 45 gallon watering trough and quart-sized feeder/waterer units in our brooder setup.
EDIT: I'd like to explain why I went from a one to a three star rating. I returned the defective ones to Amazon, and the next day, I received a new pair. These new ones have a lot of buzz around them. As you can see in the photo, the temperature exceeded 600 degrees Fahrenheit. One of the lamps appears to be tilted due to a manufacturing issue. It functions properly, but it has an odd appearance. I'm not convinced it's accurate. I gave it two stars because replacing the defective ones took an entire day. I didn't give it a higher rating because one of the new ones had not been manufactured or tested prior to being placed in the box. I'm thinking about putting a dimmer on it. To be honest, I can't recommend these without a quality assurance check. The temperature did not rise above 106F degrees, which is barely warmish, as you can see in the attached image. br>br>Based on the comments of other reviewers, I expected a warmer temperature. br>br>I believe the two lamps I was sent were defective, so I requested a replacement. I'll post an update once the new set has been tested. I can't recommend the set of two that I got.
Our Bearded Dragon relies on this product to keep warm at night. So far, the heat output and temperature consistency has been excellent. I've only had it for two nights, so I can't say how long it will last. The product was delivered on time and was exactly as described. The product quality, price, and delivery were all excellent.
I have yet to discover if this ever fails, as it continues to function. Not having to replace costly heat bulbs on a regular basis is a huge relief. The only thing I would change is the temperature, which is extremely high. For my small tortoises in a 40 gallon tank, it's a little much. During the winter, it would be ideal for the chicken coop.
They perform admirably and last a long time. Keep an eye on them because they heat up quickly and become untouchable once they do. Doesn't that seem self-evident? My varanus Salvator has a large enclosure, and the heat emitter (along with other lights) keeps it nice and warm all day and night.
It gets very hot and emits enough heat to keep a brooder at 95 degrees, but the bulb is heavy and can't be touched. I was warming up a spare brooder and it tipped over into the shavings, almost catching fire, and I was afraid it would fall over on my baby chicks.
