The powder can be applied to a damp coat and is great for moisture wicking, sweat drying, and finishing touches! If your horse is drenched, towel dry him first, then apply the powder, wait 30 minutes, and brush him out. As needed, repeat the process.
We strongly recommend Coat Defense Trouble Spot Drying Paste for hard-to-reach areas like the underbelly.
Sodium Bicarbonate, maranta arundina, and other proprietary ingredients mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, bentonite clay, zea mays (corn starch), and cea (arrowroot) powder

rot after so many people recommended it in my Facebook group. . . and it quickly lived up to the hype. . . but now I love it for so much more. When it's too cold to shower or I don't have time to use a hose, I use it to dry sweat. I use it under blankets to keep him and the blanket smelling fresh and yuck-free, and in boots to keep rubs and funk at bay. It also helped him stop scratching himself bald last summer; once the itch subsided, his hair grew back quickly. Also, I've never had Rainrot since I started using it. . . it's a preventative if you use it as part of your regular grooming routine. I've used it on my own hair and body as well. . . it fluffs up my hair after a ride and also absorbs sweat and odor. Thank you for creating such a revolutionary product that I will always have on hand (thank you for making the refill bag). . . and now the rest of my barn will as well, because we all love it and can't live without it!.
When my horse got the dreaded rain rot, I was devastated. I spent a lot of time looking at different products before settling on this one. I'll tell you about my experience buying both the powder and the paste:br>br>1. The paste was recommended for treating rain rot in almost every article I read. What did they forget to include? Rain rots in the fall, just as the winter coat is about to be put on. It's not going to work with the paste.
2. After a week of following the instructions, I saw no results. I was getting frustrated when the barn owner told me to remove the metal curry and remove the scabs before applying the powder. Make a wish on the trees. But it's been a few months, and we're still rain rot-free, with hair growing back over the scabs! br>br>The only drawback is the cost; I'd use it every day (and end up spending more), but the price makes me cringe, so it's only used when it's raining.
The photos were taken three days apart and depict my gelding before and after three days of CD. This stuff is really effective! This is my first summer with this horse, and we're having a great time. The hives began to appear when a heat wave hit in June. Two steroid shots were recommended by the vet. One is for a short period of time, and the other is for a longer period of time. It took a few days for the difference to become apparent, and then he was hive-free for about a month. In July, the hives reappeared due to another hot spell. Before calling the vet again, I decided to give CD a try. In just 24 hours, there was a significant difference; I'm not sure how this stuff works, but it does.
This fall, my horse, like many others on the US East Coast, developed a moderate case of rain rot. It was stopped after a couple of applications of Coat Defense, and it hasn't come back since then. The only reason I docked a star for the scent is that my horse adores the peppermint scent and believes there is food in the canister for him to eat. When I use this, I have to make sure I have some soothing peppermint on hand:.
I recently acquired a mare from a mustang rescue organization who gets sweet itch every summer. (They don't just hand over horses; they work with them and take the time to find the best homes for them. ) She had been in possession of this delicate soul for four years. ) Every summer, her own horse has the same gnat problem. She's tried everything and says the only thing that works is Coat Defense. As a result, I'm going to make use of it. (Skin So Soft is another product she recommends. ) )br>Hopefully, because I'm using it ahead of time, I won't know how well it works!.
Every summer, something strange happens on my horse's dock, and he rubs his tail all over the place. I began using this powder this year, and he has not scratched since. This year, we'll be in the Rose Parade, and I'd like to make sure he has a nice tail for the occasion.
After a bout of rain rot due to the wet, humid weather, I used this on my horses in the pasture. It cleared it up in a matter of days, and it was extremely simple to use. It's not necessary to use a large amount of it. I'm going to keep it in my bag.
Fungus-free feet on my miniature horses and donkeys. Simply clean up and dip their tiny toes. They don't even have to think about it! ☺️.
