The purpose of using this product is to trim goats' hooves since it was advertised as one In spite of the blades sliding right over the hoof, it was not cut. Although I tried several positions to keep the hoof firmly in place with the blades, it still slipped out between them. You get what you pay for, I guess. It was a disappointment for me.
It seems that these trimmers are not very effective. There was a question of whether or not the shears were at a bad angle or whether they were not sharp enough. Although it is hard to say, they just seemed to work poorly. Despite the fact that I have an older pair, I still find that they are much better than the ones I purchased from Tractor Supply a couple of years ago. As I wanted a goat pair at the barn and an alpaca pair at the alpaca shed, I only bought a second pair. My previous Producer's Pride trimmers have since been replaced with a new pair from Tractor Supply and they are great for trimming.
These work great on my 7 goats and came with an extra spring, so they are a great deal. We saved a lot of money since similar styles are almost $30 in stores.
It was very exciting to find these at half of the price of the "normal" turquoise ones that I have been purchasing from my local feed store for years. Sadly, they do not work the same way, and are quite unruly and uncomfortable. They will stay as a spare just in case I ever need them for hoof trimming (I used to trim goats' Perhaps I will use them one day, but I doubt it.
As a result, I drove myself and anyone who uses them crazy by trying to save a little money in this way. The pros are The spring is extra! It comes in two colors, at a reasonable price. The cons are Once they have been trimmed a couple of times, they become brittle. Because of the flimsy blade, which gets stuck together when you trim, it is hard to cut through. I love when the silly spring completely pops out of one side! Having to trim and having it get stuck, then having the spring pop out is so annoying. That's why they give you a free It would be nice if you could find yours as both of mine have been lost. Premier Hoof trimmers have been excellent for me, and I'm not experiencing any problems The clippers I use to open bales of hay are now mine.
The hoof trimmers I have bought are among the worst I've ever purchased. The first hoof on my buck was dull before they got to the third hoof, and that's after I used them out of the package. In addition to that, the spring kept popping out. In order to have my goats trimmed the right way, I was looking for a trimmer that would stay sharp for several hours. The one in this post isn't the one.
Be careful not to have your fingers in the way. The cutting things showed up clearly, so I did not cut myself, but they were very sharp. The tool cuts my goats' hooves like butter, and it is easy to clean and sharpen.
There is a dullness in the blades and its movements are not smooth.
