They do, in fact, stay in place. We gallop, and there's a lot of mud to get through. The water trail, for example, features a 300-foot stretch of 18-inch water. The only way to access the trail system is to pass through it. The fact that the boots stay on is always a source of amazement.
My mare had chronic founder, and her soul had basically fallen out of the bottom of her foot. I'd put these boots on her and wrap her foot in thick padding. She was always wearing them. It was her only means of transportation. She has reached the age of sixteen. 3 lbs., 1400 lbs. (As a result, boots like these are put under a great deal of strain.) She wore them nonstop for about eight months. Only one of the boots has some separation between the sole and the upper part, but I can still use the other one when I need it. The soles have a bit of wear on them. as if they were your tennis shoes. However, instead of buying these every year, you'd pay four times as much to have your horse wear front shoes.
One shoe. It was well worth the money, I must say: I've had these for over a month and think they're fantastic.
They have the ability to walk on all four hooves (barefoot, of course). When it comes to sizing, you'll need to consult the Cavallo chart; Any metal shoe does not correspond.

I tried a different brand, but they were difficult to put on and take off. I have bad knees, so the Trek is ideal because it is easy to put on and take off, and it has a top latch for easy adjustment, so I don't have to squat or kneel to get them on and off or adjust them. I spoke with Cavallo before purchasing to confirm wearability, and I was pleased with their customer service. These shoes wear well, have good traction soles, and drainage for going through water. The size chart is accurate. I was in need of a size 4 and they were just right. The Trek is also available in a slim version for horses with narrower hooves, such as quarter horses. But these are perfect for my Haflinger (the tiniest of the draft breeds), and I'm very pleased with them. Perfect for a barefoot horse who enjoys riding on trails or gravel roads. Only fronts are used by me.
I bought these because my horse throws shoes every two weeks like a pro. I first tried them out today, and unlike some YT videos, he didn't seem to notice they were on. I chose 2 because his size was right on the border of 1 and 2. The velcro is excellent, and the band that wraps around their fetlocks is incredibly soft and anti-bacterial. I'm a little envious of him, to be honest. I would strongly advise others to use it!.
We used these boots 24 hours a day, seven days a week to assist an older horse who was in pain and recovering from a nasty abscess. Allowing her to progress from being unable to take a step to being able to walk - I wouldn't say it healed her instantly, but it did help her almost immediately - It has allowed her to walk and heal, and it has kept her foot clean and dry. We checked her foot by removing the boot and wiping the inside clean at least once a day. The boots were easy to put on and take off, but they said securely in place when fitted when ordering. If you are on the size borderline between two sizes, I would recommend ordering the larger size, which is what we did. The only thing I regret is that we didn't try these out sooner.
There hasn't been a single boot that I've misplaced. I use markings on the boots to ensure that they are always worn on the same hoof. The boot conforms to the hoof in the same way that shoes do, and the only time I noticed a worn spot on my horse's bulb was when I wore the left on the right and the right on the left. It comes highly recommended!.
