Questions & Answers

They're quite diminutive. I was expecting it to be bigger than it was. The gravel in a typical fish tank is bigger.

What is the average number of people in your group? Is the gravel's diameter measured in millimeters or fractions of an inch?

1/16” - 1/8”

Is it possible to use this gravel in a terrarium setting?

There's no reason why it shouldn't be possible. Gravel, to be exact.

How many bags would you recommend for a 220 gallon fish tank? Do you require approximately 2 inches of protection?

10 bags

Stunningly- smaller and colored gravel in good condition You'll be grateful to your Corydoras! After experimenting with every type of gravel and substrate available, I've decided on this combination as my go-to
5/5

, which I use for the majority of my tanks Its color and size make it ideal for smaller tanks ( This gravel is ideal for planted tanks as well as smaller fish species. Your corydoras will appreciate the smaller size, which allows them to sift through it more easily and avoid damaging their barbels. Planting in this gravel is simple because it's easy to push plants down into it without damaging roots, and it fills in around stems for a secure hold. 2 x 2 x 2 4mm) are accurate, so don't expect this to be the same size as gravel you'd find in a chain store; it's a lower grade. It is, however, large enough to avoid being sucked in while siphoning; if it is being sucked in, your siphon's intake pressure needs to be adjusted. Apart from the size, the appearance of this gravel is what stands out the most: it's a truly unique mix of colors and textures (although all of the rocks have smooth edges), and the smaller size really helps to give it a more natural look, especially if you're keeping any fish smaller than 3 inches. Small fish kept on larger gravel (even "typical size" gravel), in my opinion, looks out of place and less natural. While this gravel contains nearly every color imaginable (white, red, gold, brown, black, and grey), it has a darker tone than most gravel mixes, with a grey/brown tone when viewed from afar. Most fishes' colors pop against this darker gravel, and plants look fantastic. Anyone keeping fish smaller than 3 inches in tanks smaller than 30 gallons should use this gravel, according to me. If you're using it for goldfish or larger cichlids, you run the risk of accidentally ingesting the gravel. It does come in a little dusty, which is to be expected with almost any gravel, so rinsing it a few times before putting it in your tank is a must. Water may be slightly cloudy, regardless of how much rinsing is done, but this should clear up in a day or two with proper filtration. The 22-pound bag is just right for filling a fully planted 20-gallon aquarium with about 1. You can use more or less gravel depending on the size of your tank.

This is fantastic
5/5

I needed small gravel for my planted aquariums and chose this because of its darker color and smoothness. It isn't as dark as I expected, but it still looks great, kind of like a dark river rock look with the multicolored pebbles, and I needed a finer, smoother grained substrate for my bottom feeders but didn't want to use sand. It isn't as dark as I expected, but it still looks great, kind of like a dark river rock look with the multicolored pebbles. I have it in a medium-hardness tank with a pH of 7. In another tank that I keep softer, I keep a pH of 4, and in another tank that I keep softer, I keep a pH of 6. A tank with a pH of 8 and another with a pH of 6 are super soft. It doesn't appear to affect hardness or pH, so it's not a problem. Even without fertilizer tabs, my plants root very well in it (though I did add some to help some of my heavy root feeders grow more quickly).

Pretty
5/5

For a new 180 gallon aquarium, I bought 9 bags of this. The finer gravel appeals to me the most. It's big enough to avoid clogging the cleaning syphon, but small enough and rounded/smooth enough to avoid harming the small catfish's whiskers. I also like how they are colored.

It is something I strongly suggest
5/5

This gravel was about the size of a green pea and a third to a fifth of a pea. I'd describe it as a cross between regular fish store gravel and sand, with a dark brown color when wet. It's mostly rounded and smooth, like river rock, so my bottom feeders shouldn't be bothered. And, thank goodness, it only needed a little bit of cleaning. In a bucket of water, I swish it around. It only had to be dumped three times before the water was clear. This is exactly what I was looking for: a dark, smooth, small gravel that I can clean. I'm just getting started with this, so I haven't tried it with a gravel cleaner yet, but it appears to be sturdy enough to withstand the suction of a gravel cleaner hose. If it does not, I will post an update here. My 5g fluval spec's bottom was covered by 2" of the 11-pound bag. It's so satisfying to place an order online and have it arrive as promised. To be clear, I only give 5 stars to products that are truly exceptional. A little pricey, but well worth it for my little fishies.

The bottom cover is realistic
5/5

It appears to be more natural than artificial. As the claim from New Zealand claims, it was created artificially. Darker- For my 10 gallon beta tank, the side black to beige pebbles provide a stunning bottom cover. One 11-pound bag will cover a 10-gallon bottom (20 x 10 = 200 sq inches) to a depth of about 3/4 inch. For plastic plants, this should suffice, and it may make cleaning easier, but for live plants, I recommend at least two bags. Yes, you must wash your clothes before using them to remove dust, and a 1-cycle wash takes about 20 minutes. 1/2 gallon bucket to clean it to the point where there will be no cloudy water in the aquarium at first. Overall, a worthwhile purchase that I can recommend! The stone size is good for plants, but it may be a little small for artificially decorated aquariums.

It's simple to clean and looks great
5/5

It was quick and easy to clean. Just a quick rinse and you're good to go. Within 12 hours, the minor clouding had dissipated, leaving a beautiful and natural finish. It's difficult to convey the magnitude of the experience through photographs.

It's very small! It's lovely! They are smaller, no matter how small you think they are
5/5

I lost a couple of them through the tiniest holes in a colander I've ever seen! Haha! Having said that, these are fantastic! They have a great color, aren't too dusty, and my fish and snails seem to like them. I was adding these to an already established tank, so I took it slowly to avoid overstressing everyone. It was easy and smooth, but it took a long time. After only two rinses, the rocks produced very little dust, and my snails began burrowing almost immediately, which is fascinating to watch. In my 55 gallon tank, I used three 22lb bags and I think it's perfect; I added live plants at the same time and they're firmly held down with no movement. These come highly recommended by me! However, please keep in mind that photographs do not do them justice!!.
