The OUTSIDE diameter is 3/16". The INSIDE diameter is 2/16" or 1/8" or 3mm. It's not up to par with my expectations; You should check the sizes of the other items you're ordering carefully.
Plastic airline tubing can be slightly enlarged by gently warming it with a lighter or in boiling water before inserting it into the air stone.
No, this tubing isn't suitable for use in the food industry. On Amazon, you can find food-grade tubing in this size.
I believe it is described as a standard tube.

It does not fit on the air pump or the sponge filter/airstone, according to some users. It DOES fit; all you have to do is put it on for a few minutes. It's not easy to put on, and there's a reason for that. It wouldn't be as secure and tight as it should be if it was slipped on quickly. When putting it on the airpump, airstone, or sponge filter, take your time. I can assure you that it is appropriate.
This was purchased in order to set up a new sponge filter in a new tank. When I first got it and tried to connect it, I discovered that the tub was the same size as the part that slides onto it. br>br>The product has an outer diameter of 1/8". The inner diameter of standard air tubing is 1/8". br>br>I stretched it out with heat for the price I paid, but it's garbage tubing.
Air pump and stones are a great upsell. Stones were shattered. However, even if the air tubing is in good condition, it will not fit on the tip, so I'll stick to Amazon books. It's not fair to make a profit at the expense of the customer. I'm not sure what this is for, but it doesn't look like the nozzle will fit on the bubble stone.
It was reasonably priced, but what good is it if you can't use it? I was aware of the negative feedback, but I believed I could pull it off. I've always had aquariums and am very knowledgeable about freshwater aquarium products. br> I've always softened my tubing with hot water before putting it on pumps or air stones, but this tubing still needed to be stretched onto a screwdriver after being heated in hot water, and it felt like I was going to break the plastic outlet on the pump trying to get it all the way on, so it only has a small portion of the tubing on the outlet tube. br>br>My recommendation is to invest in some high-quality tubing that is trouble-free. You won't be breaking pumps or air stones trying to save money because it's free and will last for years.
This tubing was purchased to connect a cheap Tetra brand filter to an air pump. I had a little trouble getting it on the air pump, but I had a lot of trouble getting it on the filter. Admittedly, the tube on the filter where the line was supposed to go is actually too big to fit any standard aquarium tubing. In fact, the filter tube and the PennPlax tubing have the same outer diameter. Because I frequently stretch slightly smaller tubing over fittings for brewing, I didn't expect this to be a major issue. Normally, all that's required is a quick soak in warm water or a stretch with a nailset, but this tubing is SO thin-- Even after a slight stretch, the tubing was too rigid to push around the tube without collapsing, and it was too flexible to coax it around the tube. I eventually managed to put it on. Barely. It had also become slightly torn as a result of the process. I went to PetSmart and bought a brand I'd never heard of before, but which had noticeably thicker walls and more flexibility. When I got it home, I quickly connected it to the pump, check valve, and filter.
This tubing is too narrow to be used in a standard application. For my power heads, I bought this. I cut the tubing into small strips, but it wouldn't fit in any of my power heads or accessories. Purchase is not recommended.
I wish there was a set of plastic adapters that could be used with this tube. It's difficult to get the right size adapters for this tube. It's a little too tight in the tube. To connect the adapter, I had to stretch and oil the inside of the tube. br> Because it's so adaptable, we can only push water, not pull it.
