My confusion was caused by the fact that I was not sure what was wrong. However, the fish continued to lose weight even though they continued to consume food and swim with their nearby colleagues. In 7 days, I did a 60% water change and then dosed for another 7 days. After waiting 5 days, I repeated the whole process again for 7 more days to ensure that any eggs that might have hatched were killed. It didn't work with any of the other medications I tried, including levamisole, aquarium salt, and garlic. However, it did with prazipro within a few hours. When I added prazipro to my bettas, they flared for a few hours after adding worms, and the worms just popped out and never retreated back into the fish's nose. I noticed that some of my bettas ate the worms after pooping them out, so you might want to use something like a turkey baster to get the worms Due to the fact that the fish seem not to be stressed after the first treatment, I will administer a second treatment. In my effort to find the cures for these pests, I have spent countless hours on the internet but there is A LOT of false information out there. The bottle will tell you how much to take. The stuff even in liquid form doesn't mix that well so I can only imagine how hard it is to mix paraziquantel powder. Shake it vigorously as instructed because these things never mix well even in liquid form. I'm so glad I came across this medication because it has been so helpful to me.
