This is something I have had for awhile, but I have yet to make use of it- It has been like that up to now. The guppies I keep in my tank are capable of breeding like rabbits because they have a 20 gallon tank. As a result, I have set up two 5-gallon tanks for when my pregnant females are ready to have babies. My 10 full red albinos, which arrived today, were much younger and smaller than expected since I bought them from a breeder. As soon as my fry arrived in my big tank they did not waste any time acclimating to the water temperature in the plastic bag they came in. I put together this mesh breeder box in less time than it took my fry to acclimate. A bracket near the bottom of the terrarium secures the breeder box to the side with six suction cups. Due to its mesh design, the water moves easily through it, so the baby fish are always swimming in filtered water, which is always fresh. I can release them into the tank itself in a couple weeks when they have grown large enough to not be eaten, so that they will be in the same water with the same parameters they have been in There is no such thing as a small box here. There are easily ten things I could have In this box, there is room for 20 more fries without creating an overcrowded condition. A majority of the guppy grass was also able to be put into the box so they have a sanctuary to hide in. This was a good buy for me. Then I will buy 2 more of these for that tank as well. I will wait until Black Friday to buy a 40 gallon tank. Obviously, this box is simple, easy to assemble, and does exactly what it says it will Fish fry are kept in the same tank as fresh water, but are safe from predators.
If the instructions had been included, I could have put it together in half the time. In almost all instances, if you don't follow the instruction, you're going to make a mistake. The two mistakes that I made were guessing and overestimating. As a final step, I was able to put it together (still have a minor error, but I will leave it as is). Putting it together correctly requires not to think too much.
1) Put the frame together without the nest. Make sure all the suction poles (6) on the frame are facing the same way.
2) Wrap the nest around the assembled frame and the *3) Place the plastic suction cups on the wall.
like this product, but one of my larger fish got stuck between the product and the tank when exploring. This is the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. It's not obvious if that's a problem, but I wanted to mention it in case it's something to look out for.
My search ended here. Thank you so much. As far as my baby angelfish is concerned, it should be fine. It was delivered to my mailbox, and on the way there, the mail guy broke both frames.
Only problem is that it was delivered to my mailbox. Fortunately, I was able to get it repaired and set up right away since I needed it. As mentioned above, I don't believe it is the seller's fault but perhaps they could consider a box rather than the mailing envelope. The mailing envelope wasn't sufficient to support the mail. Again, these were what I had in mind and I would definitely order from this seller.
It's very very upsetting I purchased one and then purchased another not so far along because I thought my pregos would get along but no, so I got another. They both gave birth then I removed the mothers and had 38 babies. I only have 15 to go! It was too big to put a net over the babies and they were all able to get out over night. They got eaten by the rest of my fishes! There are only 15 I saved! Initially, I was very very happy but today my fishes died because of this item! I was very very happy at first but most of them died because of this item! It is rare for me to write a negative review as I hate it too but be careful if you want your baby to grow normally with this item. The suction was great, easy to build, quite sturdy, however it didn't work once the fishes gave birth.
The post I read before buying was not as helpful as I would have liked. As soon as it was put together, the frame snapped. Having never used it, I cannot tell how much or how well it suctions, or how well the babies can pass through it. Worried the babies will be able to go right through this net, thus defeating its.
I placed my baby guppies in them inside a 20-gallon bucket and it worked much better than I anticipated In a five-gallon tank, they were not able to get out. To avoid getting sucked in the filter, they helped so that they wouldn't get stuck in it.
I opened the package and found it broken in one spot, although it was a great price point. chose to superglue it rather than return it since I had been given a batch of baby clown plecos that were in need of.
