Questions & Answers

What is the best way to separate mama guppy from her My understanding of the medium size breeding box is so different and I'm amazed by what I see. ?

With the box, you can also remove a removable divider and put it inside. Baby fish can only drop down through the divider's slits when the divider is large enough for them to separate from their mothers.

What type of Powerhead can I use rather than an air pump if I want to use a small powerhead?

There is not enough space for a power head in the box. A water overflow system is designed to allow your flow to overflow back into the tank once it has been pushed by the air pump. It would be possible to extend some airline tubing into the box, which would result in a flow and bubbles in water.

Are you using an air pump or a water pump to run this?

The air pump is necessary to use the device. The pump has to be purchased separately. It comes with a flow adjuster, but the flow adjuster is included.

Is the inside diameter of the inflow pipe the same as the outside diameter?

A quarter inch

If you can fix the sputtering, it'll be great
4/5

Would you consider yourself as someone who does not mind bubbling water but has a problem with sputtering and splashing water? The reason I ask is you'll hear a loud and obnoxious sputter if you follow the instructions on how to use this breeding box. It's not clear to me why it sputters the way it does, but it was driving me insane. As you can see, I followed the process. Several parts are shown in the instructions, including the Intake Tube (9) and the Make sure to follow the instructions when assembling the breeding box, and if you are bothered by the sputtering noise as I am, do the following. The Discharge cap should be thrown out. A three-inch or so of airline tubing should be inserted into the top portion of the Intake Tube, where the Discharge Cap would normally be located. It will be secure as long as it is fed enough. The other end of the airline tubing needs to be immersed in the breeding box's water. Rather than sputtering, you will get bubbling, which is immensely more pleasant for me. Other than that, this is a nice little gift Half is used as a semifilter, half for shrimp storage and half for moss. Edit
You should make sure the airline tubing you use when you make the fix above isn't too long before you make the fix. It is too long, so water struggles to make it up the U turn of the Intake Tube, causing it to behave like a mere air pump without pulling water from the main tank. Despite this, if you do not realize it can lead to a lot of trouble. It's possible that the temperature in the breeding box will drop if the house is cold and the tank warm. For example, the pump will not bring the warm water from the main tank into the breeding box. I don't like that at all. In addition, because the box is only half full of water, not the whole tank, you are dealing with only the volume of the box. In the case that you have this breeder box on a 10 gallons or 20 gallon, and you fix it incorrectly, so the only air that's getting into the box is air, then all you've got is the quality of the water within the box itself. It is therefore extremely important to ensure that both water is getting into the box and that water is leaving the box through the overflow (it should at the very least drip continuously).

Though design flaws can be a headache, they can also be beneficial
3/5

The breeder has a lot of weaknesses. I really want to like it, but there are many design flaws. 1.

It's an outflow of energy. I had to place grating that is supposed to maintain the fry's space, but the spacing is so large that the gourami would eat the two week old guppies that were being swept into the main tank. In the end, I cut a small slice off of Seachem's The Bag to cover the grate so that the babies would be protected. * * 2. As with the outflow, the removable dividers have the same problem. Flies are able to swim through these spaces even though they are very big. 1.
2.
3. Putting the pump to use. You can't use the air pump that you're supposed to use with this because it doesn't have enough power Also, some people may experience headaches due to the noise level of the pump. As an alternative to the air pump, I installed a low-power water fountain pump at the end of the intake. Compared to the last time I was here, it's quite a bit The only thing I had to do was plug the pump with filter fiber since I got a much stronger pump (80 gph). I are able to use it every few days as long as I remember to clean it afterwards' As a result, the flow gets clogged. Additionally, you must be very careful to keep this box perfectly level -- A slight tilt backwards will make it appear as if you are facing This will cause the water to not come out of the outflow correctly, thus overflowing the breeder box. While the breeder box has generated some headaches, it has been helpful in other ways. I have been able to free up the floating breeder box for the newborn fry, and my larger fry enjoy swimming in the extra space. Note (Note Because the water flow is rather weak, it won't be able to clean the water. The breeder box needs to be siphoned at least once a week in order for it to remain You may also want to add a large clump of java moss to the water to make sure the conditions are.

Water disturbance and noise are unnecessary as a result of this practice
5/5

Design and production of this box are so accurate and economical that maker should add a $10 supplement to include a Rio 50 convertible powerhead pump on top of that. An accessory output valve is available on all Rio powerheads so you can control the amount of water flowing through them. In order to connect the pump to the tubing, I used a 1" piece of pliable siphoning hose, then reduced the flow to a light The turn down cap with a hole in it did not work for me, as it makes unnecessary noise and disturbs the water. The following is an interesting I discovered that my male Betta had figured out how to open the lid and the hole was just large enough for him to jump through and flop back in. Betta fish are notorious for moving from one small puddle to the next looking for better living conditions. It's not common for fish to stick their heads out of the water and plan an escape to the land.

Definitely a lifesaver! I've gotten a lot of use out of this breeding box
4/5

After I bought my 65 gallon tank, I got this to keep my platy fry in, but instead of keeping them in it, I put them in the 10 gallon tank where the adult platies used to live. Even though I considered returning it, I kept it for some reason or another, and I wrote it down today to make sure I don't regret it! My newest betta tank has been causing major problems, so I had to place him elsewhere until I can get him set up in a new tank. The snail and the snail friend he came with seem quite content here (the box came with no instructions, so it's too small for him to stay permanently)

I knocked off one star because the snail did not come with any instructions. Despite some of the instructions being fairly self-explanatory, some instructions would have made things easier to understand. There is good news to be noted Avoid using an air pump with a strong motor! This makes it gurgle loudly and toss out a good bit of water!.

A box that is unmatched up to this point
5/5

I cut up a mesh holding box that I had to make the bottom grate since I had another mesh type. As soon as I finish this up, I will put up a video that shows how the Red Wag Platy babies are born in time lapse, so keep an eye out for it on that video site.
