Questions & Answers

When does the license expire?

Mine are due to expire on April 4, 2020, and I believe I purchased them six months or more ago. As a result, they last for a long time.

Why does the price of alpha trak 2 lancets and test strips fluctuate so much?

Because the lancet is merely a sharp, pointed metal piece with a low manufacturing cost. The test strips are more expensive to produce because they contain proprietary information. As a result, they have a higher purchase price. They make money in this manner.

Is it possible to use the same test strips on an Abbott Alpha Trak?

I noticed that the blue 28 gauge alphatrak lancets resembled human freestyle lancets. I contacted Zoetus, who informed me that the lancets are identical. Abbott is behind both of them. The freestyles are much less expensive than the alphatraks and can be found on Amazon. The lancets simply prick the skin and are not compatible with human meter Orr test strips.

This was ordered for my cat, who normally takes 37, but the label said 38. What exactly is going on here?

You just need to RESET YOUR CODE, to do this insert one of the 38 labeled test strips into the meter as if you were going to do a test and let it come on when the number 37 appears *which I'm assuming is what you were using use the C and M buttons to go up or down until your code is at the number 38 then remove the test strip and use it again when you go to take his/her blood pressure. Best of luck to you.

Strips from Alpha Trak vs
3/5

Strips from Freestyle The price is always changing. So far, the best deal I've found on Amazon is $49 for this item. I recently had the opportunity to consider whether I could use the less expensive Freestyle strips with the AT2 reader. You can because the strips are identical, but the human FS strips will give you a higher reading, so it won't work. When I compared the two, I discovered that the first reading on FS was 13 points higher. On FS, the second time was 56 points higher. So, just to be safe, I'll keep using AT strips on my cat. It appears to be ok based on other reviews, but it is not. Unfortunately, pet glucose conversion differs from human glucose conversion. As a result, we'll have to pay more.

They appear to be fairly accurate, but they are prohibitively expensive; I must use up to four per day or more if I am performing a blood glucose curve
3/5

My dog's blood glucose is difficult to control, which can be costly for ordinary people trying to do the right thing and keep their pet from collapsing. You should reconsider your price, in my opinion.

AlphaTrak 2 is compatible
5/5

In my AlphaTrak 2, I only have these strips. Some posters claim to use Freestyle strips with it, while others claim to use human meters exclusively for their pets. Human meters, on the other hand, are NOT ACCURATE for pets, as I discovered the hard way. They aren't, to put it that way. When your pet's blood glucose levels rise above 200ish, the accuracy of the test drops dramatically. I tried to use a human meter on my cat, and it resulted in DKA. That is not something you should do to your animal. Simply spend the money on the right product to keep track of your pet's health. A diabetic pet is expensive, and my cat has lived with diabetes for five years, with a few health scares along the way, but that's the commitment you make when you adopt a pet.

They have a deafening deafening deafening deafening deafening dea Since my dog's diabetes diagnosis over two years ago, I've been using the Apha Trac 2 system
4/5

The system works well, and my veterinarians use it as well. I've got two meters and I'm going to compare them. They're extremely precise and reliable. br>I've had no issues with the test strips, but they must be completely dry before use. Moisture will lead to a breakdown. br>br> I'm trying to learn more about the Everpaw system because it's a lot less expensive. However, the limited information I was able to gather was contradictory. I contacted Abott about the price, but they seem to be deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly deafeningly dea We, as pet owners, should make a big deal out of the exorbitant price.

I was hoping for a higher level of quality
3/5

This is the third time I've ordered from. With prices like these, you'd think the quality would be better. This is the third time I've purchased these test strips. You only have a few options if your pet is diabetic. However, at least five of the strips in each of the three orders produce error codes right out of the box, or fail to read after the pet has been lanced and blood drawn - On these VERY EXPENSIVE test strips, that's at least) 10% fail rate. I can see why pet owners opt for the less accurate human test kits for their animals. I've only gotten halfway through these strips and have already had four duds. Now I'm on the lookout for a new path - I'm not going to buy any more of these.

What Is Is Is Is Is Is Is Is Is Is It I Zoetis, for example, has us under their thumb
3/5

This review will not sway your decision to purchase these strips; You'll need them if you don't have them already. br>On March 1, 2021, my dog The Dude was diagnosed with diabetes, and I was on the verge of losing him. I had never had diabetes or cared for another creature with diabetes, so this was all very new to me. He is 15 and doesn't have many years left in him, but I wanted to try to manage his diabetes and extend his life. To keep track of The Dude's glucose, I bought an Alphatrak 2 from my vet. This is the one the vet uses in the office; fortunately, he's doing fine, and I only check his glucose once a day unless the previous reading was abnormally high or low. br>You should be able to use the strips twice, once on each side, but I've found that some batches of the strips almost always fail to analyze the blood on the second use. Of course, by the time I realize it won't read and need to load my backup strip, his droplet on his paw pad has dried up, and I have to re-stick him. br>Because these strips are so important for someone trying to do the best they can with their pet's diabetes management, it would be nice if they worked properly. But they don't, so here we are, trying to keep our pets alive and healthy for a little longer. I pity my fellow pet owners who have to check their glucose levels several times a day; this is almost certainly your pet's largest diabetic care expense. The product from Zoetis needs to be improved.

The strips were poor quality, and the company refused to refund my money
3/5

Do not make a purchase. I'm really annoyed because I'm almost done with the bottle and more than half of the strips aren't working. I'm a seasoned blood glucose tester, so I know what I'm doing, but these results were terrible. When the first few didn't register, I assumed it was just a few and kept going, so the return window has now closed, which isn't fair for a product that requires time to test. I counted, and 14 of them haven't worked out of the bottle, leaving me with only a few. This cannot happen when we are discussing health (and such a large sum of money).

I'm not done yet! I ordered these test strips twice, and while the first batch was excellent, the second batch contained defective test strips
3/5

I'm getting Error code 3, but the meter is fine, so I ran a test with the solution. I'm not happy with them, especially for the price I paid. br>br>They're a little overpriced, but I tried using a human glucose meter and had to use even more test strips just to get a reading. In the end, I spent more than these were worth.
