Questions & Answers

Is there a difference between the test strips that come with the kit and those that come with the dog and cat test strips? Dogs with diabetes are part of my family. ?

The test strips are likely to be the same for dogs and cats, once you decide which machine you want to use This is when you decide whether to get a dog or a cat.

My vet's office said they are identical, but I see they are made with a different material. Is that correct?

Why they would differ is not clear to me. These strips have been used by me for several years now with my Alpha Trak meter. The quality of the products is excellent.

Would you please let me know when the voucher expires?

On the glucose stripe box, you will find the date.

Can you tell me when the expiration date is?

The size of the box they send determines the delivery time. It has an expiration date of 11/2020, so I just bought it and received it this weekend. The expiration date on the last box I purchased (which was the same product, but from another seller) is two years from today.

What's the reason? In order to monitor my cat's blood glucose level at home, I was advised to get an AlphaTrak 2 from my vet
3/5

My AlphaTrak test strips ran out after I read the reviews, so I got the generic brand when I ran out of my (very generous) 25 test strips. They were genetically modified, and I wasted my money on them. The tests only work sporadically, and the amount of blood needed for a test is much greater, and a cat's blood is already hard to get The fact that you have to re-write the essay is very upsetting My poor cat was either stabbed because the strip was lacking blood, or because it was a dud and would not work. Therefore, I bit the bullet and ordered these, the main ones made by AlphaTrak, after going through some quite upsetting sessions. The meters themselves do not have any faults, so this is not the fault of the strips themselves. I will review the meter in a separate post. I have a few issues with these strips, however. Firstly, the price of a strip is unconscionably high. A dollar? Is that true? It would really be wonderful if someone from the company could explain to me why they are more expensive than gold just because they are "calibrated" for pets. In addition, it is not clear to me why each container of strips is marked differently with a calibration number and why the meter has to be reset and adjusted between As far as I can tell there are no human meters that have this requirement. I have extensively searched for a solution to this idiosyncratic issue, but have yet to successfully resolve the problem. The third thing to remember is that you won't It is possible for bad things to happen too often. The testing strip is not rigid, and it will often bend if you try to push it in with the other hand while you hold the cat's head still. If you are testing solo, you simply cannot hold it still while you fumble with the strip. Now let's try it in the other direction. After you have inserted the strip with both hands (this starts the meter), you have to try to find the spot on your cat's ear you want to take a sample from, get your sample and hope that the process has not timed out before you can catch It is also a meter problem that there is not enough opportunity on that side, but I would not complain so bitterly if the strips were not so expensive.

I am grateful there is a way to monitor my cat's blood glucose at home. There is nothing I don't like about these strips, except the outrageous price. has an incentive to make a profit, and I would not feel so ripped off if I had no idea about the cost of the human counterpart strips. Whenever I think of all the pets that end up euthanized or just dying from hypertension, I shudder with horror Because their owners cannot afford these strips, and do not know how low or high their pet's levels are at any given time, these pets are at risk of hypoglycemia and diabetes.

The topic of this question is quality
3/5

Despite the fact that this product can be purchased online for less, I am very disappointed with the quality of the product. These puppies cost almost $1 just for one. It takes at least three (3) to get a reading sometimes, but it usually doesn't take more than one. The testing is conducted the same way every time, but the strips never work exactly the way I expect them to. There is a lot of frustration involved.

You can use these strips with Alpha Track II meter and they work well! One of my poodles almost died from diabetes, pancreatitis, and sepsis after he was found to be diabetic
5/5

My vet told me I would have to take him to a university far from where we lived, where there was a risk that he would not live. We had been paramedics for many years and could not afford a $10,000 stay. We then took him home and, as type 1 diabetics, we knew what we had to do -- give insulin, antibiotics, and IV fluids in the same way we would do so in We have been using these strips and an Alpha Track II glucometer since our golden retriever had a near death experience about 5 years ago. Since I give insulin every 4 hours and check his blood sugar before doing so, it is expensive, but you have to keep a close watch on his sugar level and these are the ones the vets use most of the time. I wish they were cheap, but they are available just about everywhere.

I highly recommend this product because of its excellent It is great to use these test strips! Having only feline patients in my practice, I only want the best for my diabetic felines
5/5

For this reason, I recommend only using an AlphaTrak glucometer to check glucose levels. There is only a small amount of blood required, so there is very little frustration on the owner's part and a minimal amount of pain on the cat's part (since multiple pricks are not necessary). I have recently noticed that my own aging kitty has become Because I could have found them direct from our distributor at a lower price through Amazon, I bought those test strips! My clients will be able to purchase test strips from Amazon after I recommend them to them. I am very pleased with the purchase.

This one is being rated on a seller that I do not know These are the ones I ordered (I'm not sure on which seller I'm rating this review
3/5

The online version of PetMedRX I requested a new set and returned the old ones. There were no boxes or vials in both boxes We are ONE YEAR older than we were a year ago. One bottle had a 1/2019 date on it, the other had a 1/2018 date. We have a diabetic dog as well, so I was super frustrated when I needed to do a curve on our diabetic cat (we also have a diabetic dog) As a result of the woman's kindness, I placed an order with this seller on Amazon for a pair of ADWDiabetes products. Before the expiration date of 2021, they will be gone for good). far as the product itself is concerned The fact that these take so little blood is nice. If you paid $1 a strip, you would receive the following As long as the One-stop-shop is available, I'll keep it The Touch Ultra 2 is used for daily bs checks with the strips Uni-Check A set of strips found on eBay. At the cost of AT strips, I would never be able to provide care for two diabetic pets. I believe they should raise the price of the test strips to match the market.

There's a possibility that the strips are incorrect- If the test results do not match previous readings, repeat the test
5/5

I'm very upset - The other day, I tested my animal and found that it was healthy When I checked the meter, it read "LO", which I had never seen before. It's a good thing I didn't react accordingly like I normally would with the insulin dose or with the reading the meter shows however, that's not how I normally would act when the reading is higher. After a new strip, I took the photo again. The number this time is 295 It was taken a second time and it was still the same As his blood glucose level was 305, give him insulin as needed! Over the past 11 years, I've been researching and writing about cats & puppies The vet who has seen me says I should be in the Guiness Book of Records, as she's never seen a diabetic animal live more than three years The student has been in the program for four years. My son is tested three times a day, but I dose him every 12 hours. My entire life depends on the meter and the meter alone In fact, his life depends upon it, so he should be right as well as If I am not certain about something, I will let you know. This is the reason I let you know about the faulty strip because not all of us have experienced it! My goal is not to get a refund. I just want people to know they need to review As it's a matter of life and death, you might want to test it if it's a number you haven't come across before In this case, the insulin dose was given based on an incorrect I appreciate your help and I hope to hear from you soon To keep your pet safe, follow these steps The right level of high is preferable to the wrong level of This is an important reminder!.
