Questions & Answers
Yes, you can replace the batteries in both the remote transmitter and receiver collar on our SportHunter system, which is a great question.
Thank you for taking the time to ask such an interesting question. The remote's signal is the only thing that makes this receiver collar work. We don't have a remote trainer/bark collar combo available.
Niles, I appreciate your thoughtful question. The buttons on this remote trainer can be assigned to 14 different functions. This can alter the number of dogs you're training (up to six), the order in which the buttons appear, and the functions of the buttons. In some modes, such as 6-channel, you'll always have access to all three functions (tone, vibration, and static correction). You'll have to choose between tone and vibration in dog mode, but static correction will remain available.
Niles, I appreciate your thoughtful question. This system does indeed provide all three: tone (sound), vibration, and static correction.

Collar. I've had the SportDog 850 collar for a long time and it's been a reliable workhorse. I bought it because I needed a little more distance power for a new puppy that we'll be taking through longer Field Trial stuff, and I wanted to make sure that if she got out 500-600 yards, she'd be fine. I had her under control at 700 yards. br>br>In terms of size, it was slightly larger than the 850, both in terms of the controller and the collar receiver. However, it isn't as big as the Dogtra or the Garmin. br>br>I ordered all three, but this one and the Garmin Pro 550 were my favorites. The Dogtra Edge RT was enjoyable, but the controller did not appeal to me. When you held it in your palm, it had sharp edges. The Garmin was extremely comfortable, smooth, and grippy in this situation. The two main reasons I chose SportDog over the Garmin were my previous experience with the 850 and the reviews on the Garmin that indicated it wasn't well made and had issues. br>br>I also prefer the smaller controller to the Garmin or Dogtra. When we're not hunting or training, I like how small the 850's controller and receiver are. It's nice and small, so it's easy to keep the controller in your pocket when we go out to dinner or to the park.
This small device has given my puppy the freedom to explore in a safe manner, and it is well worth the money. I've had my four-year-old English Setter rescue for about a year and a half, and we've had this collar for about four months of that time. My puppy has a strong prey drive and loves to run (surprise, surprise). I've purchased two previous e collars on Amazon with good reviews that turned out to be complete nonsense. One of the collars even stopped working while I was on the phone with my in-laws. On the Fourth of July, she was lost for more than four hours in lake country while I was across the country and helpless. ANYWAY, all I have to say is that this collar's battery life is absolutely incredible. We take it on walks and hikes every day, as well as when we go to the river and she swims. It's never been unresponsive, and our dog has learned to be more aware of where we are while she's running around (she even comes over to check on us now and then, which I appreciate). This collar deserves a lot of praise. It's changed the game and allowed us to go off-leash exploring, which was my ultimate goal. THANK YOU.
I had the opportunity to use this product for the first time yesterday. I have a lab pointer mix and a one-year-old registered black lab (who is extremely hyper). Prior to using the e collar, I had personally trained both of them and taught them basic obedience. When they're with each other, they both do a fantastic job with basic obedience until they want to play. My pointer mix enjoys catching a scent and then meandering away while the lab follows. Following the introduction of the collars, which are linked to commands and positive reinforcement. In a matter of minutes, I had both of their attention. It will take some time for them to adjust. So far, I'm a big fan of the product. The only thing I'd change is having a visual indicator on the intensity dial when it's at its lowest setting. So I can tell where it is without having to look, and I can keep an eye on my dogs. And have a set of reflective numbers for the night, because my dogs respond differently to different stimulation, so I'm constantly switching back and forth. Aside from that, the product is excellent.
This is without a doubt the best training collar available, and it's well worth the money! It is completely waterproof and extremely easy to charge. The only thing I wish I knew how to do is change the remote's settings. I can't seem to get the vibrate setting to work. Aside from that, I enthusiastically endorse this product!.
After 5 months of use, the knob broke off, rendering the device inoperable. Given the number of times the knob must be adjusted for different dogs, I would not recommend purchasing this model for more than one dog. However, the remote's battery life is far superior to that of other remotes.
I gave it to my father because it wasn't going to work for me.
The battery life and range are both excellent.
Pricey. but works.
