Questions & Answers

Are all of the items watertight?

We live in Florida, and we've had this collar for over a year. We have a pool where my dog swims several times a day with the collar on. We had to buy a new one after about 14 months, and with this one, we'll try to keep it on him only when we're not in the pool, but for rain exposure or running in water, etc., this collar will last indefinitely. I believe that being submerged in water for such a long time has finally taken its toll on our collar. However, we continue to adore it and cannot imagine life without it. I'm happy to pay $200 per year for a well-behaved dog.

Is it possible to expand this system to include a second dog/collar?

For our first dog, we already have a 1900s. Now that we have a second dog, we'd like to get another 1900. Will there be a conflict between the signals?

I have a Dogtra Collar 1838453/4 miler from the 1900s that I adore, but the transmitter is missing. Is it possible to purchase it in its own right?

Yes, you can do it. Amazon does not currently have it in stock. Please contact Dogtra customer service for assistance in locating that component.

Will a husky be able to handle this? I'm curious if the vibrations are the source of the problem. ?

Without a doubt. I have two huskies with thick fur, and I can assure you that they will not be bothered by the vibration or the correction. To get through the fur, I suggest purchasing the longer probes.

Only lasted a year before having remote issues
3/5

We worked with a coach who suggested we buy it. Unfortunately, the remote adjuster began to malfunction after a year - Setting it down flipped the settings, while moving it, touching it, and other actions flipped the levels - However, not by a factor of two or three, but by a factor of twenty or thirty. We can't use it because we're afraid we'll have it at 17 and then press the button at 50, injuring or frightening our dog. You'd think that with a price tag of $230, this wouldn't be a problem. br>br>Creative+ paraphrase: We contacted the company, who informed us that the problem stems from the remote's resistance. They wanted us to pay a minimum of $50 plus shipping to send the remote in for repair or buy a new one for $160, despite the fact that they know the problem is almost certainly a faulty remote, not a mis-programmed one. We are not responsible for any misuse or damage we may cause. I'm so disappointed that Dogtra will not stand behind their product.

It's quite effective
5/5

I live on a farm with a lot of wildlife. We have two Shepherds, one who is three years old and the other who is seven months old. When he's in the house, I don't mind him coming in, but when he's outside, he's like WHO WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO and runs into the field. So I'll be chasing him for the next 30 minutes. I put the collar on him and gave him a good shock level of 37 when he did this. As soon as I called him, he leapt into the air and came running. When I let him out now, he stays completely clear of the fence. The three-year-old Shepherd bolts from the field or up the road in pursuit of wild animals. When I take him out, I put the collar on him in the hopes of catching him in the act. When I caught him doing it and gave him the same shock I gave Puppy 37, he leapt to his feet and dashed back to me, where he sat. He wouldn't leave my side, so if your patent is valid, this collar will do the trick. I wish I had purchased it for two dogs because I walk them together, but I am a Disabled Veterinarian and cannot afford it. This product comes highly recommended by me.

This is a fantastic update to one of my favorite triathlons from the past
5/5

tronic. I used a tri-fold strategy that worked really well. Tronic in memory of my last GSD, who died peacefully at the age of 15. It's still functional, but the controller is enormous. I wanted something that was easier to carry, but also more affordable, so I bought this product based on the reviews and am very pleased with it. This item is extremely durable, transportable, and simple to operate. It has a number of dial-up nicks in order to be more specific about the instructions given. The nick strength can be seen in a digital format. The remote has an excellent battery life. br> My GSD is in that rebellious stage, but he began responding to just the vibration right away. I've only used a nick a few times in my life. In the field, the dog changes direction on a dime. He also had some serious separation anxiety issues, which were quickly resolved thanks to a baby cam and this collar. br>I know a lot of people who are opposed to E collars because they have never used one or have no idea what they do. But when you live on a farm with so many dangers, it's difficult to be optimistic. When I walk my dog in the city, I am always struck by how many people cannot control their animals. Porcupines, coyotes, and moose—or even traffic—these things will save a dog's life. This type of "advice" is straightforward, firm, gentle, and effective when applied correctly, and it benefits both you and your dog.

This is an excellent product that comes highly recommended
5/5

We've been using it for a few weeks with our 35kg Rottie and it's fantastic; I've already noticed significant progress. This type of collar was first suggested by our trainer to aid in the socialization of our overly socialized students. We chose this one because the brand has a good reputation, and all of the reviews I found online were positive. br>We have not been disappointed. It was more expensive than some, but in my opinion, it was well worth the extra money, if only for the peace of mind (having heard horror stories about cheaper versions and Chinese knock-offs). offs). It's well-made, with both the shock unit and the handheld being chunky but not heavy, easy to use, and capable of holding a charge. Although not unique, it's great that there are separate shock/vibrate buttons, and the microsecond "Nick" function is more useful than I anticipated. Our trainer liked it better than the one he had before, and he's considering getting one for himself!.

This is the third time in the last 12 months that I've failed
3/5

For the past 20 years, we've been using Dogtra products with great success for our five dogs. We have, however, had nothing but problems since switching to dual band 1900S. This is our third failure in less than a year, which is three more than we've had in the previous 19 years. Our dogs are operating in the same conditions as they have been for the past 19 years. In fact, because we've cut back on hunting, the normal wear and tear on collars hasn't occurred. br>br>What we've noticed is that our two young dogs are receiving intermittent signals. At a distance of 75 feet, the problem is occurring. Within a 3/4-mile radius, to be sure. To troubleshoot, we swapped out the transmitter's batteries and antennas, as well as the receiver's batteries, with no luck. br>br>After so many failures, it's time to move on from Dogtra and try something new.

High-quality output with a short turnaround time
5/5

I have a female Staffordshire pitbull mix who weighs 65 pounds and was rescued. I looked into a variety of approaches to help her stop pulling on her leash and her fear of other animals, such as cats. I had my heart set on the Garmin 550 pro, but the price was prohibitive, and it included a GPS feature that the Dogtra 1900s lacked. Besides, I wouldn't let my dog wander far from me anyway, so spending $600 on an e collar didn't seem like a good investment. Because of Amazon Logistics, my package arrived two days late, which was a real bummer, but whatever. The collar came in a nice plastic case with foam inside, similar to a gun case, which was really impressive! For the first session, I highly recommend watching YouTube videos on indoctrinating your dog. She only required level 5 to begin, and she could do it both inside and outside. If you want to stop your dog from pulling on the leash, use the VIBRATION mode or PAGE; it quickly attracts the dog's attention but can be frightening at first; PAGE the dog every time she tries to pull away; timing is everything. Despite the fact that it is made in Korea, I am very impressed with the quality of this product. Only a tool to remove the contact points and an extra pair of contacts points in a different size for dogs with thick fur should have come with the collar. I strongly advise anyone who is having trouble with their dog's behavior to use this collar and to always consult with their trainer on how to use it.
