Questions & Answers

Is it possible to train and work with two dogs and a single transmitter? I'm concerned that I'll shock the wrong dog or that I won't be able to switch quickly enough to correct?

I currently have three dogs that I use it with. I have a poop memory, but I've devised a system that works for me. There are three buttons on the transmitter: one on the side and two on the front. I numbered the buttons from left to right according to the dogs' ages. It works well for me to put the youngest on the left and so on. And, despite the fact that you haven't asked, I do give myself a "hit" so that I know exactly what the dog is getting when corrected. You're just trying to get their attention, like a leash tug. They should not be hurt.

Is this just an add-on collar that doesn't come with a remote?

Yes, I bought it to complement my existing remote/collar system because I have two dogs.

Is SD 2525 compatible with this?

Yes, it'll work with the SD-card reader. 2525 Please keep in mind that this smaller receiver collar will not be able to cover the entire 2 mile range that your SD-1000 can. When paired with your SD-card, it will reach a maximum range of about 1/2 mile. The 2525 is a portable transmitter.

Selected User Reviews For SportDOG Brand FieldTrainer 425X/SportHunter 825 Add-A-Dog Collar - Additional, Replacement, or Extra Collar for Your Remote Trainer - Waterproof and Rechargeable with Tone, Vibration, and Static

I wrote a review for the first set I bought, which came with the remote control and one collar
5/5

I bought a second collar, so I'll include that review here as well, in case you're curious about the set: br>br>I am the proud owner of two beagles. The ability to reach out and 'touch' your dogs wirelessly was impossible to achieve before this product, as was getting them to come to me while on a scent. Once you've figured out how to use it properly, it's a wireless leash. I can now go hunting with my dogs without worrying about them getting hurt or molesting large game animals. Because they are dogs, I say 'less,' but allow me to demonstrate my point. I was out recently when I heard my dogs barking (not a scent bay), so I immediately pressed the audible'recall' button, which my dogs have learned to mean 'come. ' They both ran up the mountain to me, and I told them to stay while I went up the mountain to look for a mountain goat they'd seen. I was able to freeze the goat, allowing it to pass unharmed, while also keeping my dogs safe. Wildlife officers in the state where I live have the authority to shoot my dogs if I don't control them, so this is a HUGE issue. This product has completely transformed my hunting grounds, allowing me to'stimulate' them if they do not obey. Call it what you want, but animals sometimes need to be'stimulated,' and if you're a hunter or outdoorsman, you'll understand that it's better than them getting hurt or you breaking the law. Please follow the directions and do not overstimulate your animal. They learn quickly; in fact, after only a few stimulations, I no longer need to touch that button, and I will not use it unless they are chasing trash, which is dangerous and illegal. Now is the time to buy these, but only if you're willing to read the instructions, watch the videos, and properly train your dogs. This item will make a significant difference in your life.

Indicates a high-end product that went out of business far too soon
5/5

It was a great product, but it stopped working after 11 months. br>This was a collar that was purchased separately. br>The first collar, also known as collar 1, is still in use. Given the second collar's price and the fact that the first collar is still functional, the second collar's manufacturing is flawed. br>I have older, less expensive versions that are over two years old and still working. br>I'm hoping the seller sees my review and is willing to assist me with my problem.

Sportdog is the most popular brand on the market
5/5

A new collar was purchased. The only problem is that once the second collar is attached, they no longer have the option of simply ringing their bell. We almost wish we had just bought another trainer instead of just the separate collar because the only other option is to shock, which we don't like, but it works. Hardheaded beagles enjoy chasing mountain rabbits, and there's plenty of room for them to do so, but there are also lions and bears in the area, so we need to keep them under control, and this brand is one we've purchased twice and love. Simply put, I don't enjoy being shocked all of the time. The bell does elicit a response.

It's a bit on the pricey side, but it's most likely worth it
5/5

For the past six years, I've had a sportdog collar on my lab. The remote continues to work flawlessly and the battery still holds a charge. My dog has swum and done everything else while wearing this. I've added another dog to my family. I was able to use this collar with my six-year-old system, which is no longer manufactured. I contacted Sportdog for assistance in deciding which one to buy, and they were extremely helpful. I figured I could get a cheaper version of one of these, but these guys have been great to me and it's lasted so long that I figured I'd stick with what I know works.

DO IT! DO IT! This is fantastic
5/5

They both (one dopey great pyr and one bossy yorkie) know who alpha is the moment I put them on. MWA!! When the beep comes to town, Mr. Bossy Pants Yorkie toes the line even more. If I need more than the beep on Mr. Bossy pants, it doesn't take much to call up. Because he's only 12 pounds, a single beep or shock setting of one will usually make him look like I B$! & He was slapped until Tuesday. My Pyr has a lot of neck fluff, so I've taken her up to number 5 to get her off the street and gotten a yelp. **It should be noted that she did not pay attention to the beep, 1,2,3, or 4 shock levels***. Overall, I believe this is a fantastic, high-quality training device that I am grateful to have had the opportunity to purchase. It quickly recharges. After charging, make sure to turn the devices back on. They turn off on their own and must be reactivated. Sorry to the lady next door who lost her pants when Lola the Great Pyr, who resembles a polar bear, walked up to your chihuahua. She hadn't eaten in a long time and wasn't particularly hungry. I promise, I've learned my lesson. I haven't tried them in the water yet, but they worked fine in the rain. DO IT!.

It's simple to link and it works well
5/5

It was simple to connect this add-on collar to my existing Sport Dog model. Two collars make it simple to use the remote. I like how this one is orange instead of black like my previous one. It's nice to have two different collars, and the orange helps to make my dog stand out. Although there are less expensive options on the market, I believe you get what you pay for with this brand. This is a purchase that is well worth the money. Our original is two years old and is still going strong, holding a charge for hours on end.

BREAKS CONTINUE TO OCCUR
3/5

The darned thing is always breaking. I'm on my second one, and it's not charging. My dogs are still under warranty, but in the meantime, they've gone on a few very scary adventures. My product is supposedly being replaced by the company, but this shouldn't be happening to a product that is less than a year old. br>(This is my second purchase; the first one was ruined. ).

It's fantastic! When our dogs are off the leash, we use one transmitter and two of these, and they quickly learn to return to us when the beep sounds
5/5

It's simple to teach them how to do this in a controlled environment so they understand. These have been in our possession for quite some time now. 6 months and multiple times per week - It works both in and out of the water, which is a plus because another brand we tried broke when wet. If necessary, there is a shock feature with ever-increasing strength.
