The concept is brilliant: a deodorant-like stick for paws. The ingredients are fantastic as well, but it's simply too thick/difficult to apply in that manner. To get it thin enough to apply, I had to scrape some off and rub it between my palms, and even then, it wasn't quite thin enough. It could have been a faulty batch with too much beeswax or something, but it was completely useless. Thankfully, I ordered another brand in a small tub at the same time, and it's fantastic; it's called Paws Bio Protector (by Arava Dead Sea Pet Spa), and the first ingredient is helichrysum oil, which is often referred to as "Nature's Neosporin" and is a very expensive, high-quality oil. It's greasy, which is kind of the point, because it contains several oils (shea, argon, olive, avocado) as well as beeswax. However, the beeswax is further down the ingredient list, so there's less of it than in the kin kind stick, making it much easier to apply. It even contains salicylic acid, which helps exfoliate the skin. I've been testing it on my own dry feet (lol) and it's fantastic. My only criticism is that it contains a small amount of camphor oil, but this prevents my dog from licking it off before it has a chance to absorb, so it's actually a good thing. br>br>I didn't intend for this to be a product review, but it's always good to know what works, and if you're a review reader like me, you'll appreciate the advice. Kin Kind is a great brand, albeit a little overpriced in my opinion, and I'm all for a brand that uses natural and SAFE ingredients, which this product does, but it didn't work out for me. I'm sure they have other fantastic items, but if I were you, I'd pass on this one.
This was a huge hit with my pets (: I would strongly suggest it. My outside boy cat's paw pads have been ripped up. After just a few weeks of using it only once a day, I noticed a significant improvement.
I would give this stick 5 stars if it wasn't so hard, but I have to microwave it and then let it cool whenever I need to use it on my cats because the balm is so hard that it doesn't easily melt at skin temperature. Keep in mind that this is in the middle of summer in Alabama, with temperatures regularly reaching 90 degrees, and it still refuses to melt unless I microwave it.
Eh, I guess I'm stuck with it. I was using it for my Great Dane/Pit mix, who weighed 95 pounds. His paws were a little rough because he was a rescue dog. It takes a long time for it to melt and glide onto his pads, so I have to rub it for a while. Once it's on, it's a little greasy, but he just licks it off. I didn't use it for about a week, and his pads looked as if I hadn't used it at all. To be honest, I don't think it's all that impressive.
My dogs licked it off after I applied another brand, so I bought another. This one is left alone by my dogs. I only used it once or twice and noticed that my diffs pads were noticeably softer, implying that they were more comfortable. I ordered one for myself, figuring that if it could turn rough, dry paws around in a few applications, it could probably do the same with my dry hands and feet. On my heels, I apply it. For myself and the dogs, it's sufficient.
I was hoping my indoor/outdoor cat would enjoy his foot pads spa day as much as I did. He despises it, to put it mildly. He becomes agitated and rushes to the door to go outside; I'd suggest giving him a cat nip scent. I'm not sure what I'm saying. After three applications, his paws have become softer. When I try to use this, he gets a little squirmy. 😒.
This has helped my cat's dry nose tremendously. I had to rub it in very lightly with my finger, but it did a lot of good.
It certainly does the job, but the consistency could be a little less sloppy. It collects an excessive amount of hair, and I wish the application process was simpler. It was similar to gluing crayons with a large glue stick.
