A L'Oreal hair conditioner with ceramides had been recommended by a dermatology veterinarian to aid in skin repair. Because the conditioner's overpowering scent gave me a migraine, I had no intention of using it on a dog. I came across this one and thought it sounded promising, so I gave it a shot on my paws and groin area. I noticed the areas were turning bright red, like a chemical burn, and rewashed them right away. I looked up the ingredients and discovered that it contains synthetic preservatives such as Methylchloroisothiazolinone and Methylisothiazolin, which can cause allergic reactions, skin irritation, neurotoxicity, and cancer. Chemical burns can occur when they are used in their pure form or at high concentrations. Although the chemicals have been banned in a number of countries, I was unaware that pet grooming products are not subject to any safety or security regulations. This chemical reaction is now affecting my dog, and it could affect your dog or cat in the same way.
Dechra is one of the many products we carry at the animal clinic where I work. I wanted to get a small sample from Amazon before investing in a larger bottle, especially if I don't like it. I have a shihtzu that weighs 20 pounds and a teacup shihtzu that weighs 4 pounds. My older shih tzu has allergies and sensitive skin. In the spring, I apply chlorhex and triz to his paws to help with allergies. Because it irritates his skin, I figured a conditioner would improve his coat's appearance and make his paws feel better. The scent is nice, not 100% sure what it is but it could be coconut- However, it is not excessively coconutty. It does not lather or bubble: So all I do is apply a thin/medium layer of this conditioner to their coats and wait five minutes. I'm very pleased with the outcome. Their fur is less tangled and does not appear to be dry. They have a pleasant odor, and their hair is gorgeous. I especially like it on my puppy because she has been getting a lot of baths (due to her messiness) and this really helps her skin rejuvenate between baths!.
Our dogs' coats become more oily as a result of using this product. We've tried this brand's other dog shampoos and were excited to try this conditioner. It moisturizes her skin and coat, but over the course of a week or so, I've noticed that it adds to her oiliness. It's difficult to get rid of completely. A light coconut scent pervades the room. This isn't a bad product, but it doesn't seem to work for our dog.
I've never used a cream rinse before. Her coat is always praised for its gleam. It has a light fragrance and is extremely hydrating. I apply it liberally, massage it in, and leave it on for 7 minutes. Time limit: ten minutes Very warm water makes it easier to wash off. Excellent product.
This cream rinse has added moisture to his skin and soothed it without leaving an oily residue on his coat or skin. This is an excellent item!.
Great product that I use on my French Bulldog on a weekly basis.
