I'm not sure why, but it works wonders on my Lhatese's snarling ears (she's half Maltese, half Lhasa). It costs nothing to give it a shot. It's a fantastic piece of equipment.
You can turn the blades around for either left or right handed people.
I realize that this isn't an answer to your Havenese question. It works great on my Bouvier, who has very fine long hair. I've also tried it on my cat, and he seems to like it. I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't work on any dog. I absolutely adore it! Best of luck!
I don't have anything to compare it to, but I really like this comb because it easily removes knots from my Maltese's hair. I hope this helps.

br>If your senior cat is matted, it's probably because moving back there is painful for them or simply too much effort on a daily basis. They also shed a lot more fur and have a variety of oil problems, as well as kidney problems that cause shedding variations, and so on. br>br>My 18-year-old lady is still outgoing, but she can't be bothered to put forth the effort. Lady, I understand. When she was younger, she was such a meticulous girl who seemed to be in pain and unhappy, and if I even touched one matt, she would flee, and when I tried to comb one, she hid under the bed. Then I purchased this. br>br> br>br>On her senior haunches, we had about 17 matts and worked slowly and gently, but not MUCH - It took me about an hour to figure them all out, and I didn't get a single look of HOW DARE YOU in the process. She didn't like being restrained, but she was unconcerned about my tool manipulations. That's how good it really is. She was in the best mood she had been in in a month after that. We're all relieved now that her matting has been completely reduced. br>br>WONDERFUL APPLICATION- However, make sure to read the instructions.
I wouldn't use this tool on a dog that has a lot of hair and gets mats all the time. br>br>This tool has a good concept, but it isn't well executed. It's comfortable in my hand and digs through tough mats as expected, but the blades are worn out. I'd go so far as to say the blades are completely useless. I have a curly-coated goldendoodle, so I frequently deal with small mats, and this tool couldn't get through them without causing significant discomfort; however, I believe that if the inside curve of the blades (the part that never touches the skin) were sharper, it would be ideal.
My Malshipoo gets random knots and mats from time to time. She is normally well groomed, but she had a tangle in her ear or a snag in her tail. Instead of cutting with scissors, I can sort of rip through them with this, but it isn't as sharp as I expected and doesn't feel like it "cuts" as well. I try to work my way up from the bottom, but I feel like I'm pulling it rather than cutting through it. She prefers that I use scissors instead of a knife. Perhaps you should try a different hairstyle?.
This arrived today, and it's fantastic. I have a cat who's fur mats up no matter how much I brush it. I tried it tonight and got more than halfway through her back. I've attached a photo of her with the garbage can where all the mats are now, which is a fantastic tool. You can see how smooth she is until the mats start again because I started at her neck and worked my way down. Tomorrow night, there will be more. ) Love it.
We have a Bichon and don't cut her hair short, so the tool's small size is ideal for getting at mats on the backside of her legs or breaking up knots under her ears. I discovered that holding the hair close to the skin and gradually working down from the outer edge of the hair to the skin works best. The tool will not cut through the matting without pulling on the skin if the hair is not held at first. It becomes easier to work with as you use it more. The tool's front edge is rounded, so it won't cut into the dog, which is a good thing. We also have a larger Andis dematting tool that we use to go over areas we started with this smaller tool, such as her back and chest.
It's risk-free and simple to operate. This grooming tool comes highly recommended from me!.
I was afraid it would be cheaply made, but it's very sturdy and feels like a high-end item. br>br>The tines are beveled, so they won't scratch your pet. It also picks up fleas, flea poop, and larvae very well.
Simple to work with! My cat is getting on in years and isn't grooming herself as well as she used to. Matts began to appear on her back, which we began to notice. They were easily removed with this tool. She wouldn't sit still when I tried to cut them out before.
