Questions & Answers

What's the best way to get fine hair out of a brush without damaging the bristles?

There are numerous options available to you. Gently tapping the brush with the pins facing down is a common method. Hair moves to the pins' ends, where it can be pulled off in clumps. Another option is to remove the hair from the brush using a comb.

Which one would you suggest for thick sheepadoodle (poodle/sheepdog) fur?

I have two doodles, one with curly poodle hair and the other with a thick undercoat, likely sheepadoodle-like. I ended up buying a medium and a firm because I couldn't decide between the two. While I prefer to keep my dog's hair short (an inch or less in the summer), they prefer to use a medium pin brush. Brushing must be enjoyable for them, even though it is more work for me. Because of the tangles, I'm pretty sure I'd use the firm slicker more if I let it grow out.

Is this appropriate for Afghan Hounds?

Yes, there are 1" long Firm Pins on this brush. Brushing the coats of Afghan Hounds will be a breeze with this method.

I have two Newfoundlands, both of which are quite large. Which of these brushes/pins would you recommend for their long, heavy coats and undercoats?

The sensitivity of your dog's skin is a factor to consider. My sister works as a dog groomer for a living. She claims that the STIFF tines work best, but that they can irritate some dogs' skin. For most dogs, she suggested using the REGULAR or SOFT tines. I got the REGULAR tines for my German Shepherds and they work great, but a Newfoundland's coat is even denser than a GSD's, so I'm sure the STIFF tines would work fine as well.

As a dog groomer who works full-time
5/5

I really like this brush. This is a fantastic, less expensive alternative to the Chris Christensen brush, which I'm a professional dog groomer. It doesn't irritate the dog's skin at all. I'll never use another slicker brush again. I'll add the soft pin to my order as well.

This is a must have!! I work as a dog groomer for a living
5/5

This brush is something I use on a daily basis. This brush was recommended to me as a less expensive alternative to the Chris Christensen brush. Long pins are my favorite! If you have a long-haired dog, this will work to remove Matt's and undercoat from the coat! All of my clients rave about this brush!.

We absolutely adore it! I have a couple of longhair cats who despise being brushed, and I am allergic to fumes from brushes' rubber, so I am constantly experimenting with different brushes to see which one is best for us
5/5

This had the typical rubber odor, but it dissipated quickly (four others, all purchased at the same time, are still stinky a month later). It doesn't give off that awful febreze-like odor because it has a pure plastic handle rather than a silicone-coated one like many others. silicone has a bad odor nowadays. It's a good option for pet parents who are concerned about their health. br>In terms of functionality, it appears to be top-notch. I got the one with the really long, firm tines, and while I can't dig very deep yet because of a few knots, I love how many strokes we can get before it fills up. My one cat, who appears to be at least partially Himalayan (i. e. , he has the fur of two regular cats and is prone to matting), despises brushing and prefers to use those brush-like devices. To flee, take a cleaning break. Because of the amount of hair this bad boy can hold, I grab hold of him and don't let go until I'm finished. It's as simple as it gets when you think about it. br>They seem to enjoy the sensation on their head and neck fur (the only areas they LIKE to be brushed), but I have to be careful because this brush is about an inch too wide to fit between their ears and at least an inch longer than their necks. I knew I'd be getting a dog brush, but I wasn't expecting it to fit, but those long tines were a big draw, and they're just as good as I hoped, so I'm happy with the brush. I did a quick google search for the brand name and discovered that they do sell a "Twin-Twin-Twin-Twin Twin-Twin-Twin-Twin-Twin-Twin-Twin- flex slicker," which appears to be skinnier (no listings specify dimensions) and possibly has the same tines (again, no ads specify this!). ), so I'll see what I can do (they're in the tens of thousands of dollars range). The only ones currently on here are over 40, despite the fact that they are all in the $15 range! Oh, and if you're looking for measurements on this, I see the vendor messed up by describing the width to the edge of the plastic rather than the width of the tines area. (Who cares if the plastic is large or small?) The bristle part measures about 3 1/8 inches in width. Oh, and the ability to last- I'll try to remember to update this when the brush starts to fail, but some brushes start out with a wiggly tine, and this one is still going strong after a month of use, so I'm confident it'll last.

Don't think about it, just buy it! I toyed with the idea of buying this brush for a long time before finally doing so
5/5

The only disappointment I have is that I did not buy it sooner. I'm a 65-pound woman. The long firm pins get all the way through the coat (I keep him on the shorter side) and aren't too firm to hurt him. Standard Poodle who requires regular brushing, the long firm pins do the trick in a lot less time. A brush out appears to be more tolerable to him. To think, I was on the verge of purchasing the pricey CC brush until I read the reviews and realized I didn't need to spend that much money. You will not be disappointed, in my opinion.

AWESOME program! I'm a professional groomer and a Golden Doodle breeder, and I can't tell you how pleased I am with this brush

Each and every owner of a coated breed should get one. Prepare to be blown away! A long-coated dog of mine is shown below.

This brush can be purchased
5/5

I bought this brush to groom my four dogs at home. It's a replacement for a very expensive coral-colored flexible pin brush that, much to my horror, was chewed on. After doing some research online, many groomers recommended this brush as being affordable, durable, and comparable to or better than the much more expensive brand; I must say, I love it! It's light weight and helps tangles in each of my dogs' coats (I have a curly doodle, a thick coated wavy doodle, a fluffy doodle, and a thick, straight coated mini shih tzu — it works on all of them!).

It does not appeal to me in the least
3/5

So now I'm the proud owner of two golden doodles. They were both quite long, and I attempted to use this brush on them, but it was a disaster. I could hear it yanking my hair rather than brushing it, and my dogs were not pleased. When I brush them, they usually lie down and almost fall asleep, but you could tell this brush was yanking their hair. br>br>I had them groomed, and they were cut really short (they hadn't been groomed in 6 months due to COVID). As a result, I decided to try the brush on a short coat again. It sounded like it was yanking hair once more, and the dogs were not pleased. br>br>I'm used to using a $70 brush, but everyone says that it's overrated and that a $20 brush will suffice. I'm pretty sure this $20 brush can't do it.

Slicker is fantastic! We've had a few golden retrievers over the years, and we've gone through several slicker brushes
5/5

We've had a mixed bag of results so far - I'm sure everyone has been in a situation like this. Some are excellent, while others are dreadful; some break, and the bristles rarely last long. br>br>We came across this Tuffer than Tangles brush after conducting a blind search; it wasn't recommended highly on Amazon's usual lists (I wonder why?). In any case, it appeared to be simple and clean, and groomers on other sites raved about it. Isn't it great that we purchased it? br>br>This brush is fantastic; it is without a doubt the best slicker brush we've ever used. It glides through our boys' coats gently, picking up a lot of hair without dragging or pushing too hard. Our dogs enjoy being brushed in general, but when they see us waving this one around, they run to get their adoration. I'm not sure how else to put it. We're very pleased with the results, and our dogs appreciate the extra attention they get during grooming sessions. br>br>I suppose the only question is how long this brush will last, but time will tell, and it was a great price, and we have very happy Golden Retrievers here!.
