This leash is ideal because it gently rolls up, allowing him to see where he's going. However, if he's serious about following a scent, as beagles can be, he can tug and go. I'm also a fan of the bag add-on. If he goes to the bathroom in a neighbor's yard, I always have a bag with me; the bags are very sturdy and don't break open if you grab grass or anything. This leash and bag attachment comes highly recommended from me! This is an excellent product.
This leash is one of my favorites. For my 11-pound Maltese mix, this is the third retractable leash I've purchased. I've never given much thought to the handle's size; instead, I've always complained about how big or heavy they were, without considering whether I needed a smaller option. I was so embarrassed when I realized I had forgotten my dog's poop bags after taking her regular non-retractable leash to the park (because I didn't want to take the giant blue one in the picture). This prompted me to immediately search Amazon for an XS gem, which I discovered! It's a lot easier to lock and unlock, and it's a lot more comfortable in my hand. My dog is used to walking right beside my feet and doesn't go very far, so the length of this leash is ideal for her as well!.
