There is a loose nose loop until the dog pulls, at which point there is a tightened loop. The 86# Weimaraner I own can get through any situation. He seems to like it very much. When we are walking, I don't allow him to roll in any grass and it works really well. If he rubs on the grass he can remove it, but it works great if he doesn't. As if I were leading a horse, I am able to control him. A choker collar takes the dog some time to get used to, but it is so much better than that.
If your dog is a large breed, a large size might be too much. There is no better breed than the English Bull Terrier!
For me, a medium would be a good fit

I found this to be a great product for training my dog! A big Pyrenees pulls me along behind him all the time because he's so strong. I have noticed he no longer pulls when wearing a head halter and he has learned to walk alongside me.
