It is strongly discouraged by me. It would snap your dog's head around if he got a running start and came to a sudden halt at the end of the line, either because you locked the retractable brake or because he ran out of line. There's a good chance you'll injure your neck in this situation.
There was a leash included. My husky mix bit her tongue and chewed through the mouth covering. We went back home to see how she was doing. The head collar was discarded after the first use, and we now only use the leash.

I'm exaggerating a little when I say this changed my life. I work as a dog walker and own several large dogs. I'm small, so I'm not sure why I always seem to come across the big ones. In any case, they're usually all excellent. Then there was a new puppy from Newfoundland. She's now one year old, and I've had to put up with a year of pulling and futile attempts to turn a lunatic into a lady. She had a complete transformation the day I received this. Walking experience that is completely different from what you are After a 20-minute walk for the first time in a year, she realized that if she stopped trying to be the boss, the walk would be fine. My legs and arms don't feel like they've been through 20 rounds in the ring. I'm almost looking forward to the day when we go back to the old schedule.
She was a pain to walk with. It was as if we were walking a fully trained dog the first time we put this on her. Pulling is no longer an option. There will be no yanking any longer. There will be no more lunging after automobiles. All of our lives have been altered as a result. Even the dog is now standing there giving you her nose so you can put it on her and take her for a walk. It was well worth the money.
You'll wish you'd gotten it earlier! This collar is absolutely stunning! My staffie used to be a puller, but after some training, he's now a great walker. We've only gone on two walks so far, but today we saw a squirrel, and I was able to keep him under control despite the fact that this dog pulls on a martindale collar. I needed a solution because I'm suffering from back spasms, so I'm overjoyed! He even walked well for my fiance, who had never used it before and is more lenient on walks than I am. I recommend treats and indoor training for a while because it will feel strange to them at first, but he is now a lovely walker.
Because I can't find a chest harness for my 145-pound Great Dane due to his deep chest, this was recommended. I was hesitant because it appears to be cruel, but it is not; in fact, it is fantastic! He can fully open his mouth and finds it comfortable. There is a slight learning curve (as expected) because they feel something strange on their nose, but once we started walking, he was no longer thinking about it. Everything about it was ideal. I'd buy it a hundred times!.
My 55-pound pit bull is a pretty adaptable dog, so this product took some getting used to, but it's so much easier to walk him now that I'm not straining my arm or shoulder. For safety, I recommend using a two-point training lead with one end attached to the halti head collar and the other to a regular collar or harness. My dog is stopped in his tracks by even a light tug on the head collar. It's simple to direct him in the direction he needs to go, and he won't bolt or pursue because he knows he won't get very far with the halti on. Just remember to reward your dog and make putting on/wearing the head collar a positive experience for them so they aren't afraid of it and will come around and get excited when they see it because they know it means it's time to go outside!.
This is something I really like because it helps me keep my dog under control. When she sees a skateboard, she goes crazy, so the Halti is definitely a win for the poor skateboarders. The size I got was too large, so I'm exchanging for a smaller, but it makes a huge difference.
I'll have to do some research on how to use this. I'm not a fan of what you've done so far.
I am 112 pounds. & I have a 57-pound pitbull who is two years old. You figure it out for yourself. br>Last September, my dog yanked me off the road so hard that I broke my collarbone in several places. When he pulled on a regular collar or body harness, all I could do was stand behind him and try (emphasis on try) to keep him back. I don't even get a tug from him now that I'm wearing this head halter! Where I had zero control before, I now have 100% control over him! br>Not only is this head halter a lifesaver, but it's also a bone and body saver! This is the only head halter I'll ever use when walking another dog.
