Questions & Answers

Do you think this will work for primarily He walks well on a leash, but wants to jump ?

This holt had a difficult time fitting. I finally got the correct size, but the clasp on the chin strap kept coming loose, so she was able to get out quite By switching to the leader, I became the There are no problems at all. There is a stop to its A halter on a horse is similar to what this is. Pulling on the leash causes the dog's head to turn, making it impossible for them to move forward. Jumping would also be impossible. Within a 24 hour period, the problems that had been occurring for 6 months disappeared completely.

Does anyone have any experience with smaller dogs who are very energetic? Jack Russells are our pets we have two of them Dogs 1 year olds - Fox Terrier mix. You have to do a lot of walking. ?

They should be able to use it. It will not be a very popular thing, but they will assist. Despite how much I love it, I don't use it as often as I should because my dog hates it. She does not pull while wearing the harness when she is walking, and it is a pleasure to walk with her on a harness. When a person is consistent about applying the technique at first, he or she will succeed in breaking the pulling habit. Thanks for taking the time to read it.

Is it possible to use this for a 2lb bag. Approximately 7 oz. What kind of dog is that?

Normally one that small isn't made, and I'm assuming you're inquiring about it because you have a habit of pulling out hair? Even if it was for a nipping problem or biting habit, it would not make a difference. If your dog weighs 2lbs 7oz, it is usually not a problem to have it pull. I can only hope not to the point that I would have to strap up their faces like I have to with my The best choice I can make with a dog that tiny is to get a leather puppy leash with a smaller snap and a wide pliable flat collar so as to more evenly distribute the pressure in the neck area. If the collar can only tighten on the neck, a martingale collar may also be an option. It's safe and effective, but make sure you measure properly and follow any instructions that come with the product. Additionally with a small dog, it's easy enough to stop your dog when it pulls at the collar and immobilize them. It is important to teach the dog where the heel position is on your left side (even with your left leg). Praising him calmly when he is in the heel position will help reinforce the new behavior. Make frequent turns (some in front of the dog and some to your right, along with keeping the dog on your left so it has to follow you) in a small area if the dog keeps trying to get ahead of you (don't try to train the heel on the walk). Whenever he's out of position, you can say, "Nope, heel!". The better you live with a dog who can heel properly, the happier you will be. The time it takes to learn this cue is well worth the effort. It is possible to train the heel on YouTube in a variety of ways. If, for some reason, your dog already has a respiratory problem, you should find a soft harness with no choke points and apply the same training process. You will need to take a little bit longer to do it with a harness, but you can do it. It is important to put the safety of the dog first. I am not sure of your experience, but training takes time. Repetition and muscle memory are two things that need to happen. No one can fix it easily, but with proper guidance and patience, they can learn! Hope you have a successful day!

Is there a size difference between them? Would a 5-inch shoe fit a 5 year old The weight was 6 pounds. What kind of dog do Chihuahuas ?

As for my dog's weight, 117 lbs, I do not know. As for size 5, I bought it for him. There is a little room for improvement but an improvement is too small for a 4. If your dog is small, I would suggest going with the smallest.

There is a marked difference in the quality of the walks
4/5

This purchase has actually been quite satisfactory to me. Using the head halter (paired with positive reinforcement) while out for walks has made it a lot more pleasant for my mini Schnauzer, Pudge. With the halter, the dog is in greater control and is less likely to pull. As an alternative to the Gentle Leader (which does not have a safety strap attached to the traditional collar), I would probably choose this model. It took me two separate orders of halters to actually find one that fit! I have taken one star off for sizing. It was quite difficult trying to order a 'small', as the weight/breed suggestions encouraged me to do so, but even at its tightest setting a 'small' was much too large! After ordering the 'x', I had to go back and order it It was a perfect fit, in 'small' size! I was wondering if any of you owned dogs in Consider the x-20 range if you have a 20 pound dog The small size should be chosen when purchasing from Amazon rather than the small size.

Halti is new and improved
5/5

Do you hate it? In lieu of that, here it is! The Halti headcollars I use get a lot of use from me. As I went to replace my last one, you can imagine how disappointed I was to find a "New and Improved" piece of garbage. Additionally, it was poorly made and came in a revised design that I didn't like, and it couldn't The shoe size I had been using for eight years suddenly became too huge, and that was their smallest size. So I started looking for a new size. I couldn't find any options on the market quite like the old Halti despite the fact that there are so many alternatives out there now. The Coast Walk 'n Train caught my eye, so I went on it. The new Halti is exactly the same as the old style and is way better quality than the crap they sell at the moment. It fits perfectly and works perfectly! I am so glad I bought this! If you are looking to replace your old Halti with a new one, choose this option!.

Exceptional concept and well executed Despite everything I've done, my dog hates me
4/5

There is no problem with the collar We found the XS to fit our 14lb Jack Russell perfectly, although she tried for the first 30 minutes to remove it from her head. The buckle appears to be well made and should last for a long time. I picked her up once and explained to her that she needed to wear it since I was tired of dragging her along while walking 5 miles with her, and I was also not going to carry her for five miles. Although I am not sure if she comprehended it, as soon as she realized I wasn't taking the item off of her, she managed. It is true that she is a very intelligent dog, but at times her contrarian tendencies outweigh very early on that if she tugged, it put pressure on her face and head, which she did not like. I still believe the collar is an ingenious concept, but we have only tried it once so I remain hopeful that she will get used to it and figure out that pulling harder does not work. If you have ever had a Jack Russell Terrier, you will understand this of course. As a side note, here are some sizes My sister's 115-pound Rottweiler also got one in a size XL, and it fit him just fine. We have not yet used it, but the first time we tried it on him, he tried to push it off for the first minute or so and then seemed no longer to care. In addition to updating my review once he has used it on a walk, I will go on a walk myself and see how it works.

It works well, but you have to be patient! A female Maltese is almost two years old and weighs eight pounds, so I bought the small extra small
5/5

In the beginning, I purchased a small, which was slightly too small. Despite the fact that I returned, the company did not make me do so. The small dog keeps walking like a Siberian Husky pulling a sled, which is nearly impossible to deal with. Having used the harness three times now, I can say that the product works very well, but requires patience. Due to its flexibility, it could be used to take the headpiece off, so the safety belt had to be removed. The harness is also a pain to wear at first since he managed to get out of it at least twice during a walk (your dog will hate wearing the fire of 1000 suns- at first). I've had to try it a few times before he got used to it, but it seems to work. This is a completely new dog for me to walk! Putting in the work is well worth it!.

The pull stops when it is off, but it is hard to get off
4/5

Keep the momentum going! This collar did not come off the 20 lb dog that pulls like a 100 lb rottie. I used to have two other head collars that he got off within two seconds flat this collar would not come Here's an update. I've been trying to acclimate my little guy for four weeks and he is just not My morning routine involves dragging him behind me for 20 minutes every day while he struggles desperately to remove it. In an attempt to avoid being put on, he runs away when he sees me approach. He is no longer interested in walking with me as dragging him behind me is just embarrassing, so I wont use it any longer. You may be able to use it if your dog isn't as stubborn as mine. I have been using the PETSAFE EASY WALK HARNESS and it is the first of four I have tried that has made my dog stop However, even after measuring him for both small and medium, I couldn't get it to fit properly, so I just got The one I want will be the one I get if I can get the fitting right. I wish you the best of luck if you use.

The size is much larger than advertised and not even close to the advertised size
3/5

My chihuahua-jack russell mix dog is 6 1/2 pounds and I bought the XSM version of this collar. I guarantee this won't fit my dog as it is too loose even at the smallest collar size the nose loop will not stay on even at the most unusual size. The seller states it will fit a yorkie or a papallion, but that's not true at all. With the collar adjusted to the smallest size, the collar would still be 12 inches long, which means the nose loop would have been too long to keep it on her nose. Package states collar can adjust down to 10 inches, therefore either there was a mistake in packing the wrong size collar in an XSM box or they mistakenly packed it in an XSM box.

The head halter is well made and includes a safety feature
5/5

As a Mini Aussie, my Mini Aussie has been able to get off head halters in the past. If you lose control of your dog while wearing the head halter, this one comes with straps you can attach to the collar that anchors the halter so you still have control.
