My dogs didn't seem to notice them when I placed them in front of my glass door at first, but after they jumped against the door and landed on the mat, they haven't jumped at it since. Just a heads up: if your dog lands hard on the mat or if their weight is heavy, these nubbs will injure their paws. My pit's pads on her paws were bruised and sore when she landed on it, but my Tsu didn't hurt him, and he stopped jumping through doors.
So long as the pointy side isn't on the ground! I've had mine on my furniture for the entire day - They're incredibly light and portable.
It was $11 when I bought it. One square costs 33 dollars. I required two, so I placed a $22 order for two. There were no listings for multiple amounts that I could find.

My dog has developed a dislike for me as a result of all of this. It's a joke, so don't take it seriously. This made my dog laugh. Took a poop directly behind the couch, walking right over it. So I sat it on its side to make a small gate, but he simply pushed it out of the way. So I put it on top of the couch to keep him from sunbathing there, and he laid right on top of it and scratched his back before looking me in the eyes and pushing it off and behind the couch. This was a complete waste of money, and my dog now believes I'm a punk. This isn't something you should buy.
This product gets five stars from Dexter for comfort, but I'm afraid I have to give it a lower rating for effectiveness. Cats are masochistic by nature, so if you're looking for a cat deterrent, try a homegrown remedy like those mentioned in other reviews.
Our cat has taken up residence on top of it. Also, if you have a child, keep in mind that the spikes are extremely sharp, so make sure she or he does not walk on or touch them.

The cute little snuggle pup quickly transformed into a 65-pound fur missile, launching herself at random intervals onto unsuspecting humans on the couch. She'd also use the ottomans as intermediate launch stations to get more lift and speed. br>br>Because I wasn't a fan of the electrified systems available (they seemed a little too medieval to me), I went with the spike strip method. I bought a few of these mats. They are extremely effective. As a test, I placed them on the ottomans with the pup's paw on top of them as a warning. That did not sit well with her, but she, like all puppies, has a short memory. She was cured after just one circus vault onto said ottoman! I'm not launching onto my family or visitors any longer. br>br>The spikes aren't sharp enough to hurt her paws, but they aren't pleasant to wear! In our case, I believe it was the element of surprise, rather than the discomfort, that worked. There are certainly other methods for teaching your dog to stay off the furniture, but if you've been a bad human, these can help you quickly regain control. br>br>By the way - They can be folded for storage, which is a nice feature.
We had just purchased new leather couches (which were quite expensive) and didn't want to risk my senior dog sleeping on them while we were away. She doesn't always do it, but she has a hard time holding her pee when she's sleeping. I was so happy when these mats arrived because it was so annoying to have to make sure we crammed our couch with a ton of random objects, chairs, toys, boxes, and so on to keep her from jumping on them while we were gone or upstairs. It took a few weeks for them to arrive, but my mother has some, and I've used them before. I like how these fold up so that my toddlers don't hurt themselves while maneuvering them. I'm already happy with the appearance of my living room!.

So I gave them two stars instead of one because they might work for a dog with a shorter/thinner coat who isn't intelligent enough to climb under or around them. They're a little pricey for a single square that won't even cover a standard couch or chair cushion. When we weren't looking, he figured out that he wasn't supposed to be there (unless there was a thunder storm, in which case he was right on top of it as if it didn't exist). When we weren't looking, he'd just get around it or under it. It's actually quite uncomfortable for me to simply place my palm on it, and I can't sit on it even when I'm dressed. Our other dog, who has a shorter coat, will not touch it. But we have an Australian cattle dog who can now brush himself with it, so it's not a complete waste of money. I'm afraid I won't be able to leave it in places where I don't want him. I'd still prefer something like this to a less humane method like a shock mat, but it'd take a lot of them. They do have spaces where you could probably tie it to something to keep the animal from getting under it or simply moving it, but that would make moving it for human use, such as the family couch, a pain. If you're going to use it as a counter surfer, you'll probably have to bend it or tie two of them together to cover both the front and back of the counter, and then secure it in some way to keep it from falling over.
