I put two of the mats on the hood of my car to teach my 60-pound Labrador not to jump on it (!). Then they slide off, scrambling for traction and scratching the hood! It was a cinch to use. Then I used them to teach my dogs not to jump on my bed (I liked the snuggling but didn't like the shed hair). Again, everything went smoothly.
With your shoes on, you will not be shocked. Start it on low to get a sense of the charge and adjust it. After it is connected, run your hand across the mat. When nothing else works, it's safe for pets and gets them to stop doing something they don't want to do. After they walked across the mat a couple of times, I didn't even have to leave it in the same spot. I hope this has been of assistance.

Yes. With the battery pack, you receive the original. The cable that connects the extension to the original mat is included in the package. The only disadvantage is that it appears to reduce battery life, though it will still work for four hours. It will take 6 months to replace the battery.

It's been about a week since I started using it, and so far it's been great.
I was apprehensive about using a shock mat on my dog. However, due to separation anxiety, he destroyed the back of the front door after attempting countless other training tools and behavioral modification methods. I'm not sure if the first shock rewired him, but now that he knows the mat means I'm coming back, he takes a nap on his dog bed instead of howling and scraping the paint off the back of the door and injuring himself (see photo of crazy). He'll go berserk if the mat isn't out. Who'd have guessed that putting the mat out equaled nap time? (((((((((((((((((((((((((((.
After I moved, my cat peed on my couch. When my two cats were settling in to their new home, the younger one freaked out and the older one bullied him. I tried everything I could think of. I spent around $2,000 at the vet, getting every freaking test they have. I tried sprays, diffusers, treats, and even bought him a thunder jacket (which he quickly wormed his way out of) and spoke with a cat whisperer (also known as a behaviorist). Both cats were nearly killed by the calming collars, especially when I discovered one of them hanging on a closet hanger! Mouthwash was sprayed on my sofa, which was covered in plastic. He'd dash over there and pee as soon as I removed the plastic. I was at a loss for what to do when I came across these scat mats in a pet store. So I piled them all on my couch and sat back to watch. The bigger cat (not the violator, but baby huey) jumped on it first, but nothing happened. He flies across the room all of a sudden. I put the shock to the test, and it isn't that strong; it's just a little more abrupt. He's not very bright, so he did it again before deciding to stay away from the couch. I'm not sure if the little one got the hint, but he began avoiding the sofa all of a sudden. Then he walked across it once and leapt into the air. I was met with a cold, evil stare. Baby Huey dashed over to his younger brother to console him. All of my bad urination issues vanished overnight. I was even able to move the smaller box, which had been in the hallway near the sofa (another attempt to wean him off the couch), into the garage, which has a cat door and plenty of litter boxes. Then it hit me: this is what I've been missing all along. Cats are akin to ninjas with obsessive-compulsive disorders. Even if the trigger is removed, once they've learned a behavior, they'll keep repeating it. This was the only way to make him despised the sofa enough for him to give up. I knew he had stopped because there was no more pee, and I had even purchased a small camera to record when they got close to the couch. Now, if I pull back the mat and sit on the sofa, he'll approach and lay down next to me; however, if I put the mat back in place, it's a no go. Awesome. The real trick is about to begin. Order the controller first, then the two extenders and finally the power supply. It's less expensive and does the same job. This one is large enough to be used as a sofa. It took three mats to cover my large sectional sofa. If you want a sofa, avoid the skinny ones because they will simply hop over it. Best of luck, and may the relief come your way!.
The mat I got was not the same as the other PetSafe mat I got with another order. Instead of a switch, the operation was controlled by a button on the top. Unlike my other mat, which provides an immediate shock, this one takes a few seconds to respond and sometimes does not respond at all. It also doesn't always turn off when you want it to. br>br>It also doesn't always turn off when you want it to. As a result, I was severely shocked when I accidentally touched the connectors where the current exits. I would only recommend purchasing the "PetSafe" brand. I've included images to show you how the two products differ.
It was an excellent solution. My cat has a habit of chewing on my Bonsai Tree, so I bought the large pad to keep him away. He tried it once and was zapped, so he hasn't tried it since. He's been sitting and staring at my tree, and I can tell he's trying to figure out how to get it without stepping on the mat.
This mat has come in handy on numerous occasions. A 2 has been assigned to us. year- She's an old lab who is completely obsessed with food and is incredibly agile, jumping and climbing over obstacles as if they don't exist. We spent two years having to put everything away in the kitchen whenever we needed to leave it, not just when we were leaving the house, but also when we needed to go to the bathroom, put a load of laundry in, or do anything else that might require your attention. This constant vigilance was exhausting and inconvenient, especially when we needed to get somewhere quickly. We were constantly piling things on top of the fridge, inside the oven, inside the microwave, and so on. br>br>This mat changed our lives. br>br>On the first day we put it down, our lab decided she didn't want to go into the kitchen anymore. She only stepped on it once in the six months we've had it, as far as I know. She never tries to step on it, and it stays off the majority of the time. For added security, I do turn it on when we leave the house. We've stepped on it a few times because we forgot to turn it off, and while it's unpleasant, it's not terrible. We always leave it on the highest setting when we do turn it on, so I imagine the low or medium setting would be even more bearable. br>br>This has allowed me to bring groceries into the kitchen and then return to the car for more. It means that the kids can make a sandwich and then turn around to get ingredients without having to worry about our little counter thief. It means that clearing the table is no longer a complicated process in which one family member is assigned to kitchen guard duty while the others clear the table of everything. br>br>This mat comes highly recommended.
