No, if the dog pees on the training mat, it will not be ruined. If there is any conductive liquid on its surface, it will be turned off after 10 seconds of continuous shocking. At this point, you can simply turn off the mat and wash it. Once it has dried out, it can be used again.

We adore our cats, but they have no regard for boundaries. I was hesitant to use a solution that could deliver any type of shock, but I was fed up with them clawing holes in our sliding screen door. Both were cured on the most gentle setting possible. It has no effect on them, but it does startle them. If they "forget," I can remind them with an audible warning setting alone, which is already worth every penny paid. Now it's time to move on to the food preparation surfaces on the kitchen counter. On the non-painted areas, I used painter's tape. The pad slides easily on slick surfaces, so it has conductive ends. The size of 16x30 inches was ideal for our requirements. After looking into other options, I discovered that this one was the simplest, most straightforward, and most cost-effective.
What can I say, my cats adoration for me is unquestionable. They beg me to let them sleep in my room at night, but I need to get some rest! So I shut the door, and nothing in the world could stop them from scratching the carpet at my front door. For years, I tried putting all kinds of things in front of the door (even strange things like lemon slices), but they always scratched around the object, except THIS. At first, this product seemed like a godsend. It worked really well, and I only heard it go off once or twice, but it was enough to completely deter them - I was putting the mat under the door so that half of it sticks out into the hallway where the cats are, and there wasn't even a meow of protest. However, after about a month, at least one of my cats began scratching around the mat's edges, never being shocked. He'd eventually push the mat all the way away from the door and pick at the carpet like he always did. As with *every* other object I placed near my door, the cat scratched around *this* one as well. The issue is as follows: br>br> The mat has wires running lengthwise about 1" parallel to each other, and something must touch at LEAST TWO of them at the same time to deliver the shock. To put it another way, I can wrap my fingers around a single wire without getting shocked. Cats are the same way. My cats have walked over this mat without being shocked because they either don't step on any wires or, if they do, it's only one wire at a time (due to their small paws). My cat has discovered that the mat's edges do not shock him, which is why he can completely push the mat out from under the door. I've even shocked him by placing him on the mat (don't worry, I'm not cruel; I've only done this a few times in a desperate attempt to get him to learn), but it hasn't stopped him from picking at the mat overnight. This mat is, in general, preferable to nothing. It lessens the amount of scratching on the door, but it does not eliminate it. br>br>Be aware, however, that if you have extremely intelligent/persistent cats, this may not be the best solution for cats vs doors. Every animal is different, and I believe that most animals would avoid this mat after being shocked by it even once, but not my cat.
This item is fantastic! I had a problem with the cats scratching at my bedroom door at 3 a. m. to be fed. I couldn't let them sleep in the room because they don't sleep at night and bounce off the walls all night. As a result, I turned off the lights. I can now place this in front of the door to deter them from approaching it. For both of my adult cats, I have it set to the lowest setting, which works perfectly.
She is astute, and she figured out how to climb the wall-mounted gate. (Have you seen her? ) We needed to find a solution, so we googled our issue, learned about this mat, and ordered it from Amazon. I wasn't sure if it would work for what we needed, but it did! I put the batteries in, read the instructions, and then tried it out. I draped it over the top of the gate next to the wall where she crawls up and over, clipping it together with clothespins between the small wires. I set it to shock and make noise; there are three levels of shock, and I began with the middle. To be fair, I touched it, and it reminded me of when my siblings and I used to rub balloons on our heads to build up static in our hair, then shock each other by touching each other. It only hurt for a fraction of a second, but it was enough to keep my puppy from escaping her confines. It did! It only took two attempts for her to give up trying to flee. It's not cruel; it's simply a reprimand for something she did incorrectly. It's something I like and would recommend to anyone who wants to keep their pets out of a specific area.
And this is the one that I like the most! Not only is the size ideal, but it also has three levels of intensity and does not produce sound. And, unlike my other one (60 x 12), it doesn't use 9 volt batteries; instead, it flashes, consuming the battery's life. This one doesn't; it's only if there's contact! I really like it! When I'm not using it, I put it on top of my dryer because my one cat likes to use the lint door as a litter box. I'm guessing it's because it's warm when it's on, and she's designated it as her personal space. This hasn't happened since I placed the mat there. I will continue to do business with this firm.
