Place on the lawn, but make sure to remove it before mowing.
Mine didn't work out. But I wanted to use them in flower pots, so I cut them down to size and used the cut off pieces as "spikes" turned upside down. I found it to be a sufficient workaround.

These mats were purchased, cut to size, and placed in my containers, and they have saved my plants! Gardening is one of my favorite activities: These tiny mats are absolutely invaluable! It's simple to cut with kitchen scissors or snips, and it's apparently annoying enough to keep my garden gremlins at bay!.
I've raised domestic geese by hand. The issue is that they come onto my patio and cause havoc! So I went out and bought some scat mats in the hopes of scaring them away. This is my personal knowledge. Their feet hurt, but not enough to keep them away from the patio! I can tell they're in pain as they walk over it, but they keep doing it! Our dogs and children, on the other hand, stay away from them! They did an excellent job, and grass grew along that side of the patio as a result of the scat mats, which prevented people and dogs from walking in that area! br>br>So they work, but they're not ideal for geese. Please do not waste your time!.
The cats will not sit in any chair that has these mats on it. As a result, the mats have proven to be effective. br>They appear to be a little flimsy, so I wouldn't recommend using them outdoors or on larger animals. br>Now, if only they'd stop ripping up the carpet, the couch, the corners, and so on. Hey, this has nothing to do with each other. Is there anyone up for a cat rescue? No?.
Mr. Johnny Appleseed is who you are looking for. Johnny, my dear, has no regard for these mats, walking, chewing, and lying on them. If you have a sassy cat, this will not be enough to deter them. In order to get what he wants, Johnny will also pull them down or crawl beneath them.
We wanted more because the cats won't bother if they see it handing over the counter just a little bit. . . We even use them on one of the sofas, on the sitting cushions as well as the tops of the back cushions. If the cats aren't aware of their presence, they will become aware once they leap onto the counters! It's the simplest mechanism for keeping poopy paws off the ground that I've come across so far - haaaa! The only drawback is maneuvering them around when that extra space is required and deciding where to put them at different times. We're thinking about installing a hook system on one wall (so we can stack them). OUCHIES! So, yes, they are effective;.
They're light, but they don't blow arroyos in the mulch outside, which is important because I have neighbors' cats who come into my yard to relieve themselves. The majority of them have been distracted as a result of this.
Would it be enough to deter a determined feline? No, but neither would nothing. It does, however, perfectly deter a mildly interested cat from crossing into or approaching the area you're trying to protect; it worked perfectly for us.
On our second floor, our cat would walk along the narrow edge of the railing by going through it. I bought these mats, cut them down to size, and hung them outside the railing. She isn't attempting to pass through the rail any longer.
