We bought two of these for our 17-pound male cats, and they were fantastic on our cross-country trip. 100% would recommend to friends and family members
We lined each box with a drawstring litter box liner just in case the boxes weren not 100% waterproof We made sure to tighten the drawstring on the bag as we moved from the hotel to our vehicles in order to keep as much litter inside as possible. (We use a fine-grained litter that would otherwise seep out of the litter box. ) We'd then tuck the scoops next to the bag, zip the travel litter box shut, and carry the litter boxes like briefcases to the car. br>br>The litter boxes' sides were tough and stayed upright on their own, even with an inch or two of litter. Because these boxes were flexible, we were able to cram them into tight spaces in our cars, which was a bonus. In addition to the liner bag, having a zippered lid helped to keep the litter smell from spreading throughout the car while driving. The scoopers are small and light. The travel bowls were a nice addition that served their purpose well.
Using pee-clumping litter is also a good idea. Alternatively, I've used pine litter, which has also worked well (not to mention being more natural, as the pine pebbles turn into almost saw dust when peed on). as well as low odor). The litter box can be easily closed with a zipper - I just think the zipper could be a little better quality because it got stuck on me a couple of times. If you're staying in a hotel after a six-day road trip, I'd recommend using it only in the bathroom. This box usually fits right next to the toilet. After going potty, my cat scratched quite a bit. As a result, the next time I travel, I'll most likely bring his colossal mat with me. He's used to a large litter box (thanks to my larger but healthy Siamese kitty), but he's adjusted well to this one. I recommend starting it a few days before your trip. If you're worried about your cat having to travel in the car, it can also fit in front of your seat (passengers or back seat). Cats, I've discovered, are more at ease when they're not moving and don't need to go nearly as often as dogs do - As a result, he only used this box while staying in a hotel! But, even after 5 days of use, it was still great when zipped up - There is no leakage, and it is small enough to be carried as a messenger bag. It's a nice touch that they also include a travel scoop. I only wish this portable litter box had a pocket on the outside. Then everything would be just right!.
I received this item very quickly, and it is a very sturdy litter box. However, because it is a bit complicated, it would be difficult to remember how to fold it up to its most compact state. I was expecting this item to be brand new, but when I opened the box to look inside for my cat, I noticed scratches and a bit of yellow discoloration, indicating that it had been used previously. Overall, I'm pleased with this purchase, but be wary if your cat, like mine, is obsessed with other smells. I'm hoping that once there's litter inside, he won't be bothered by the smell of another cat and will use it.
It's so simple to zip it up and leave. We tried lining it with a biodegradable bag, but the cats didn't like it, so we just filled it with clumping litter and used dog poop bags to remove the used litter. It was perfect for our two cats, one 12 pounds and the other 15 pounds. Despite the fact that it was significantly smaller than their previous litter box, they quickly adjusted. The travel bowl was also extremely useful. I used it as a water bowl and placed it in the carrier of my cats. During our three-day trip, not a drop of water was spilled.
When the zipper is zipped up, there is a very small gap on the corner where it ends. br>Some litter escaped and caused a shambles. It wasn't terrible, but it was inconvenient. When not in use, simply place the entire thing in a plastic trash bag. You don't want litter to get into your seats and/or carpet when you're rushing around in a car. It's too small for my very healthy male cat. He hesitated at first, but eventually urinated in it. br>It's not heavy duty, like the scooper that came with it. br>It worked, but it could use a few "tweaks. ".
The scooper was covered in litter, and the litter box had a strong foul odor and litter residue on the inside. br>br>The product itself appeared to be nice if it had been new.
br>Dislike: the instructions do not state that it should be lined. I lined it, but it shifted and car urine dripped through. br>I wish it had come with a liner to fit it, as I was traveling across state with my two cats and it would have made things easier. This looks great once it's lined, though!.
I bought this travel litter box set because I'm moving across the country with my cat and needed something smaller for him to use on the road than his current giant litter box. It comes with a small scoop and a collapsible bowl, which is ideal. I'm sure it'll come in handy at some point.
