It measures approximately 27 x 17 inches for litter, with two 17 x 6 inch storage bins on one end. It's a good pan; I have three cats, and it can hold 40 pounds of tiddy cat litter or any other litter; the cats love it, and I've had it for quite some time.
None of my six cats have tried that particular activity. Litter does get thrown in pockets, as others have stated, but as has also been stated - If your cat does try to use the pockets as miniature litter boxes, they are large enough to clean. My cats and I both adore our boxes. My children range in size from a small 7-pound girl to an adult. ex-boyfriend, a very large male ex-boyfriend A feral kitten that grew to be about 26 inches long from head to rump (plus a 14-inch tail) and weighed around 22 pounds. These boxes are used by all without issue.
I have two scoopers of different sizes, so I keep one in each storage compartment. In one of the compartments, I also keep a bottle of spray cleaner. I believe the compartments are necessary because I do not want the scoopers to come into contact with anything else for sanitary reasons, and they keep the scoopers very handy because I scoop the box every day. Any litter that falls off the scoopers is also caught in this container. My cats aren't interested in the scoopers or anything in the compartments, and they've never "missed." They adore this litter box, and I'm glad I moved away from the smaller covered litter boxes. In this box, they can move around a lot more easily.
If you haven't already, you should invest in a large Sterilite tote. The size you choose depends on your needs and the available space, but the sides will be sufficient. You can cut a U shape in one side for them to enter and exit, or use a small stool, but if they are young enough, they will most likely just hop over. Choose totes with snap-on white tops rather than those with handles that click down over the covers. You don't want any holes, rough edges, or plastic protruding from the inside of the box, which is common in the ones with handles. I have one in the bathroom and a larger one in the garage. Clear totes allow me to see what's inside at a glance. When they get scratched up, they can also be replaced for less money than a regular litter box. I have two of these Petmate litter boxes and I really like them, except that I don't care for the pockets like a lot of people do, and I wish they had just made them a little longer.

Obviously, it's enormous. I keep a box of disposable bags, a scooper, litter deodorizer, and cleaning wipes in the two side storage compartments, which I love. The only thing that I think would improve it is if the front wasn't so curved. Regardless, it's fantastic. br>br>As you can see from my photos, it's big enough for my 5-year-old to "lounge" in. That is how enormous this thing is. br>br>And in the other photo, it's completely covered in litter. I was interested in the height of the sides when I purchased it because it's difficult to tell from photographs. Fortunately, the sides are tall. To give you an idea of how deep it is, there's a 35-pound bucket of litter in there, which is about 3 inches deep. Even for cats who won't squat, there's enough room for more litter and the sides would still be high enough. br>br>I would highly recommend it, particularly if you have multiple cats and clean it on a daily basis. It is shared by four cats without any problems.
Prior to purchasing this box, I had tried everything to get my husband's colossal cat to use the litter box when he went to the bathroom. It was a complete disaster. Every day, I'd walk into the laundry room to find a puddle of urine on the floor or running down the wall next to the box, often hidden beneath or behind whatever I'd used to catch his "accidents" (primarily litter mats and painter's plastic). When it comes to his urine stream, this cat is truly the Houdini of cats. br>br>Then, on Amazon, I came across this box. I read the reviews and saw that it solved the problem of other cats peeing over the side of the box. I placed my order, assuming that my problems would be solved. They had been. for the duration of the day The next morning, I walked into the laundry room to discover that he'd peed in the supply pockets. At the very least, he got a hit on the box. Later that day, I returned to find him peeing through the other side of the box, over the plastic I'd used to line a couple of inches of the wall behind the box, and onto the floor. Dang it.
br>In any case, if you have a super pee-strength pee-strength pee-strong pee-strong pee-strong pee-strong pee-strong pee- This box might do the trick on its own, but that isn't a guarantee. But here's what worked, and it was only possible because of the enormous size of this box. I backed the box up into a corner, enclosing it on three sides (two walls and my laundry cabinet). I placed my litter mat in front of the front door to catch any urine that might have escaped. I used plastic to line the inside of the box on the other three sides and taped it in place. A picture of my setup is attached. If he pees on the walls or in the cabinet, it will hit the plastic and roll into the box. If he pees in the fourth direction (which is uncommon), the mat will at least catch it. Yes, I have to clean off the plastic and replace it on a regular basis (and it's not pretty!). I'm not bleaching my tile and walls twice a day, but at least I'm not. br>br>And that's all there is to it. I'm giving this box four stars because it's big enough to allow this set up and save my sanity, but I'm taking away one star because it didn't actually finish the job on its own. Also, the box is very sturdy and feels like it will last a long time, and the side pockets are useful. I'm not sure if they make a liner for it, which is a disadvantage, but I make my own out of painter's plastic. Hopefully, my review will assist someone who has had trouble getting this box to work on its own! br>br>*These are not the words that were used. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> The box is still going strong almost three years after I wrote this review! This is the basic set that I still use. up, though I did remove the litter mat because he almost never pees in that direction and cleaning the mat was more difficult than simply sweeping the litter off the tile. Now if I could just get the other cat to stop poop-ing on the floor. Her tail was used to paint the laundry room's walls and door.
Yesterday, I received this box. I haven't used it as a litter box yet, but I'm confident it will work perfectly. br>br>The reviews do not adequately prepare you for the size of this box.
RAGDOLLS AND MAIN COONS DO NOT NEED TO LOOK ANY FURTHER. I finally got a picture to show the size; we bought this for our three cats, and they use this colossal one along with a jumbo box, and everything is fine. br>Most importantly, we needed something that would fit our Ragdoll's size when he reached full maturity in a few years. You can't use hooded litter boxes with Ragdolls, and Jumbos can still be a problem, based on previous experience. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WE REQUIRED! br>It's amazing how something so basic can have such a big impact. The sifter and bags will fit perfectly in the side compartments. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together! You will not be disappointed with your purchase, though the size may surprise you at first - Despite the fact that you measure. I expected to be prepared, but it still surprised me (in a good way). br>*Ragdoll kitten not included*.
This cat litter pan is a colossal size. As if it were enormous. Please don't be fooled by the stock photo. Please take a look at the image I've attached. If this is the size you're looking for, take advantage of it! The quality is good, and there are two slots for scopes and other items.
So far, it appears that the children enjoy it. My 10 pound cat appears in the photograph, indicating his approval as well as the scale.
My cats require a large amount of space to turn around, so I require a large box. This is the worst of the bunch - It's not only smaller than the previous model, but the new rounded edges make scooping out the litter nearly impossible when the cat pees in the corner (which one of mine always does), and the litter clumps stick to the pan's bottom. The enormous "pockets" just accumulate dirty litter and waste space that could be part of the box's functional area, and one side is curved in, making the area for litter unnecessarily smaller. Don't squander your cash - If you want a big box, go to the hardware store and buy one of those large concrete mixing trays for $5.
I own two colossal felines. I had the largest litter box I could find, but it was still too small, so I looked for another, which I found here. br>br>I used to keep an oil pan underneath the old litter box, but this one is so much bigger and better that I no longer need it. I'm not sure how excited the cats are, but I am! This is something I strongly suggest!.
