In this litterbox, I use Boxicat litter at a rate of 3 - 4 times per day. 4 inches in depth This litterbox is ideal for both me and my pets. I have three of them in various parts of my house, and they're all easy to clean. Litter and litterboxes are a personal choice; everyone has their own preferences. In terms of functionality, style, and ease of use, I would highly recommend the Modkat litterbox. To round out the set, Boxicat extra strength litter is a great addition. I line them with paper board! Because they aren't exactly the same size, there is a small gap, but it's still a lot easier to clean up, and the liner lasts longer.
If you allow the litter to become too low, the pee will pool at a seam in the liner and soak through it. The liner is made of heavy tarp material that is waterproof as long as it is not torn or worn through with a metal scoop. However, if you keep the litter box full of clumping litter, you should be fine.

First and foremost, the cat is enamored with it! What I like best about it is that it not only prevents urination outside of the litter box, but it also prevents urination in the house. - At least, that's what I've found so far. In comparison to the old litterbox, there is very little sand outside the box. br>br>Putting it together takes some time, and while it's not bad overall, there is one area where it could be significantly better. The "Splash Guard" is a source of contention. It comes rolled up in a tight roll, and when you unroll it for installation, the plastic stays distorted like this, which isn't ideal because it bows outward, taking up more space (which isn't good if the box is in a small space). It's also quite difficult to put together; it took my wife and me several minutes to get it in place. It's still not very elegant, and it's a little shaky. There's a lot to work on here - Modkat should, in my opinion, be re-evaluated. br>br>Think about the design of this part. br>br>The interactive toy that comes with it is a lot of fun, and our cat, at the very least, loved it! In general, this litterbox is a huge success, though there is still room for improvement. Modkat, you did a fantastic job!.
The most important thing to remember about this litter box is that it fits perfectly inside an Ikea BEST cabinet, in my opinion. I cut a hole in the side of a BEST cabinet to hide my cat's litter box in my apartment a few years ago. It's fantastic! On Amazon, I discovered a small, low-cost litterbox (IRIS open-top litterbox). My cat would pee over the edge of the top litterbox, which fit inside, but the inside of the cabinet remained filthy, and the box was difficult to clean. br>br>Because of its dimensions, this box fits perfectly inside the BEST cabinet and makes the most of the available space. My cat does not pee over the edge of this one, so there is no mess. Outside of the box, she's tracking less litter as well. br>br>I've attached a photo of the box that was in my old cabinet. In addition: br>br> I read somewhere that using a hair dryer to apply heat to the shield can help it become more flat. That was something I tried, and it worked. The shield is still a little awkward, but it doesn't appear that my cat can pee through it, so that's all that matters.
It's easy to clean and has some design flaws. The contemporary design appeals to me. I don't use it with the liner because I don't want to have to replace it every few months, and litter doesn't stick to the box's slick sides. The front step easily pops off, and my cats don't use it (they jump out), so I'm thinking of replacing it. Because the box is quite deep, some cats may be able to use it without the splash guard, but my high pee-ing cat requires the splash guard. er necessitates the guard, which effectively prevents him from spraying the back of the box all over my walls. I think the splash guard is unsightly, and it's easy for pee and litter to get behind it. I really wish Modkat would just make a single-piece, really deep box with a high back. The open side handles are a design flaw; they're unnecessary, and my cats manage to kick litter out of them, so I'll have to cover them. Many people complain about the tightly rolled splash guard, but all I did was flip it over and leave it for a day. Overall, this is a good box for the money, and it is more appealing than a plain dark plastic box.
It was only yesterday that I received it and assembled it. The plastic portion that clips in after the fact does not sit correctly and perfectly with the smaller box, as several other reviewers have stated over a year ago. The design is interesting, but the execution is terrible. It should also be noted that it arrived rolled up, despite the fact that Modkat stated over a year ago that they would begin shipping them flat in response to another review. I'm supposed to waste my time and "roll it the other way" for a few minutes to "straighten it out," according to the instructions. Negative; after assembling it, it should be ready to use right out of the box. It's interesting to see Modkat's response to the majority of negative reviews is "We stand behind our products 100% and want you to be a fully satisfied customer". So, you're sticking by a clunky product and aren't listening to your customers to make them happy, because this product needs to be pulled, and if it isn't, it'll be a $15 product at best, not a $50 product. I'm coming back.
This contained the urine from my standing-while-peeing cat. The sides of the add-on top piece are curved and do not provide an uninterrupted barrier, so I gave it a 4. Thankfully, she pees against the back of the box, so it's not a problem for me.
Recycling the box as a cat toy with the included ping pong ball is a clever idea. br>br>The box is off to a great start; the clips make setup a little difficult, but once in place, they appear to be solid. My only gripe is that the shield was bent a certain way in the delivery box, and the bends do not line up with the box's corners, making it look a little wonky. sloppy. I'm thinking about using a heat gun to straighten out the bends. br>br>Aside from that, it appears to be a very solid product. I'm thrilled to have such a strong box with equally strong liners. It's a nice change from the store-bought flexible plastic bins, which crack after a few years due to the weight of frequent litter changes. Because of the replaceable liners, it should be able to withstand the abuse. br>br>Once I've had more experience with it, I'll update my review in a month or two. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> This litter box design continues to impress me six months later (February 2019). It's still sturdy, but I'm worried about the four small corner clips that keep the liner in place. As a result of the repeated re-use, the place will eventually wear out and break. Dumping the litter out of the liner involves a hooking cycle. My liner has a small leak at the "back" bottom edge, resulting in a few drops of urine per month ending up in the bottom of the actual bin between the liner and the base. Overall, this isn't a big deal, and I wouldn't expect a tarpaulin to have a sewn seam. To be fully liquid-proof, the material liner must be liquid-proof as well. In any case, proof. Overall, I think this litter bin was a good buy. I just hope they sell replacement liner hooks because I'm sure one of them will break in the next year.
