This is the most effective treatment for my three horses' cuts and sores. One of my mares sustained a serious cut on her side, which extended all the way to her stomach. I was concerned that it would become infected because she refused to allow me to apply an antibiotic cream to her. I got this fantastic spray a few days later and sprayed it on the cut while applying her fly repellent. She didn't even realize it was there, and the cut healed beautifully within a few days. There was soon no scar at all! This is something I'll always have on hand in case I get a cut; it's incredible!.
Every winter, my mare gets dandruff on her back and strange little 'pickies' that no amount of grooming or dietary changes could fix. I tried this stuff on a whim and it's not completely resolved yet, but it's a huge improvement! Her dandruff is significantly reduced, and her coat has lost much of its winter dullness and appears to be in much better shape! I've also been spraying it on a scaly flat sarcoid she's had for years, and it seems to be helping; it's pricey in terms of coat sprays, but it's well worth it.
My dog was constantly licking one of his toes, which had become inflamed with small sores and was causing him great discomfort. With my many attempts to treat it, it seemed to calm down, and my vet told me (while visiting our farm) that I'd have to take him in for x-rays and other tests, which I estimated would cost at least $500. After reading the reviews, I decided to give Vetericyn a try as a last-ditch effort to avoid that. Well, I'm happy to report that his foot is almost completely healed, and we're both very happy about it. I used a baby sock and a strip of not-too-tight electrical tape to wrap his foot after treatment for a while because it worked better than vet wrap. For a few hours, he was unable to lick anything. I alternated between airing the foot and keeping it covered by the sock. He wore it both inside and out, and I simply bought a pack of them and washed them. He is no longer licking his toes, which appear to be normal (no longer swollen or inflamed). It took several weeks of daily treatment, but this product worked, and I will be a repeat customer. It is well worth the money.
Do you recall the father in the film My Big Fat Greek Wedding spraying windex all over everything? That's how I feel about this product; it's great for anything! My 6-month-old puppy had developed a strange sore on his head the first time I used it. The earliest appointment with the veterinarian wasn't for another three days. I couldn't let those three days pass without doing something to help our puppy. So I used Vetericyn three times a day to treat the wound. All that remained of the wound when we arrived at the veterinarian's office was a small pink area. Fortunately, I had documented it each day with photographs. The vet told us that if he didn't know us, he would never have believed it was the same dog, no matter how bad the pictures looked. Unfortunately, we've had WAY too many opportunities to use this product since that first use; our poor boy has allergies, and he gets frequent "hot spots" and other strange sores that make us constantly wonder about SA. But, fortunately for us, no matter what type of sore he gets, it goes away in a matter of days. Both the thicker gel formula and the more watery formula are available for purchase. The gel lasts longer and is better for areas where his coat is thinner, but we have to use the watery formula on his back because the gel leaves a white residue that looks terrible in his jet black coat. This product has prevented our pet from needlessly taking antibiotics to treat superficial skin problems, and it is well worth the money. I'm not sure what we'd do if we didn't have it. br>br>I feel compelled to respond to the "most helpful" negative review for this product, in which the reviewer expressed her dissatisfaction with the smell. What about the SMELL? Really? Infected skin stinks like nothing else. The only reason this product would not have worked for someone is if they waited too long to treat the problem and the infection was systemic, or if they didn't use it correctly.
It does not irritate the skin. As a result, even if the spray hits her face, horses tolerate it. Rain rot and itchy tall chest neck were a problem for my horse. Betadine and a variety of other products have been tried. Within two weeks, it was completely gone. a tail Overnight, my neck itches.
This is now on "auto supply," which means it will arrive without my having to reorder it. order, and it's much less expensive on Amazon than anywhere else I've looked. br>br>I own a young horse who is extremely accident prone. Flies are an issue with any open wound in Arizona. This product cleans the wounds extremely well, and when used twice daily before applying a topical spray, the wounds heal much faster than any other product I've tried. I have an insect-sensitive mare, and the first two summers with her were a constant battle to keep her stomach free of sores. This summer, I decided to try Vetericyn for the first time. Her stomach was free of sores after just a week, and with 2x daily application, it has remained sore-free throughout the summer, with her stomach retaining nearly all of the hair - What a distinction! Nothing else had worked half as well in the previous two summers, and I had tried a lot of different things. This book comes highly recommended.
It has helped, but because it is a small bottle, it does not go a long way. This is the second time I've purchased it to assist my horse, and both times it has proven to be beneficial. However, it was not completely resolved. I wish this was available in a larger bottle. I've been using other products and can no longer afford to purchase this.
It is non-stinging and simple to use. Most simple wounds respond well to this treatment. It is critical to adhere to instructions (i. e. sanitizing the wound, especially before the initial application).
