The nails on our son's dogs are too short for me to trim on my own, so I was concerned about being able to do it safely. Neither dog is ours, and we've had two dogs one is a Shepherd mix with long, thick nails, the other is a Boston Terrier mix with short, narrow It is very comfortable to use, makes a clean cut on the first pass, and is as easy to grip as a pair of scissors. While I may have been able to get better results by bathing the dogs first, the clippers seemed to perform better than I instead of 5 stars since the lock doesn't stay engaged, but since there is no little one that can reach them, this doesn't matter to me since I do not have to worry about their safety. To ensure the guard is exactly where it should be, check every time before trimming a nail to ensure it is in the correct place. By the simple design and act of opening and closing the clippers, there is just a tendency for it to move a little bit. Once again, no problem, just be alert. It was extremely difficult to get my cat's claw inside the clipper because it was hard to get it to fit inside. I'm not sure if I used it wrong or if the design is flawed. My claw was never long enough to reach me enough and I could not get it into the cut no matter what angle I approached from.

There is a problem with the blade alignment! The item seems solid and easy to use, but the blades aren't aligned. As a result, cutters, scissors, etc. are difficult to use or useless when they break.

When you cut with a pair of these, it's hard to tell where you're going. In two different occasions, I attempted to cut my puppy's nails using this tool and chickened out because I was not comfortable using it. I gave up doing these when I tried again for a third time, and I noticed my puppy screeched because he had been calm before. I assume my puppy started to hurt himself once I began clipping his nail.

Dogs hate getting their nails trimmed, and they wiggle like crazy when it's time for them to be trimmed. The past few trimmers I've tried didn't work as well as I would like. At the same time, it is hard to hold and clip while staying away from the clip. No way! Those babies are too cute! Both of us could not believe how fast and easy it was. We will no longer fight, just clip and it'll be fine. It is a pleasure to work with both of.
