For several years, my baby Ella Belle has been eating (or rather licking) the gravy from the fancy feast medleys wild salmon florentine once a day as a treat. I've had a couple of bad batches in the last year. On September 22nd, I placed an order for this one. My baby became extremely ill as a result of it. She began vomiting and having diarrhea, and she stopped peeing completely. I noticed her trying to pee in her small box for 10 to 15 minutes at a time. Only one or two drops would come out after 10 to 15 minutes of waiting. After I stopped giving her this particular case, this continued for nearly two weeks. I understand that dogs and cats throw up hair balls, but she was throwing up several times a day in addition to having diarrhea. She doesn't eat much of it, preferring to lick the gravy off, and I feed the rest to my outside babies with their other food. As a result, it isn't being thrown away. Well, I noticed they were both suffering from diarrhea. Other Purina canned cat food has made my outside cats sick in the past year. I've contacted Purina several times, and their response is to send you coupons to buy more purina. So please, whatever cat food you choose, keep an eye on your kittens for any changes in their behavior. I put it down to another bad batch. Because I stopped giving her any after she had eaten it, licked it once a day for a week, and gave her something else as a reward, she improved. But, because she is such a picky eater, this is the main thing she enjoys as a treat, so I purchased a new case, and she has been fine. Now I just keep a closer eye on her. My Ella Belle has been doing fantastic since she recovered from her illness, even if she still has to lick a new batch of treats. I would have given it a higher rating if I could. My cat is diabetic, and this is one of the few foods that the vet recommends for her health (not to mention the fact that she loves it). This, as well as the chicken one, is a favorite of my cats. My issue with it is that it contains spinach. Cats have a hard time getting rid of spinach. I wish this company would wake up and realize that the Florentine should be made with carrots or pumpkin bits instead of spinach. I also noticed that the meat part looks like cut up rubber bands, which is probably why they refuse to eat it. They always lick the gravy but don't eat the meat. They also refuse to eat cat food that contains pate. Please, Purina, substitute some Florentine flavors for the spinach!.
