Be careful what you buy: Inconsistency in the products
3/5

My most recent order of Purina Fancy Feast Grilled Poultry from Amazon, dated 2/12/18, has something seriously wrong with it. My first two Amazon shipments of Purina Fancy Feast Grilled Poultry I've been buying Fancy Feast grilled, marinated, and specialty varieties for 15 years and have never had a problem with them. Product reviews are something I don't do all that often. br>br>It appears that either 1) this box is a fake, 2) Purina changed their manufacturing process (which I *hope* they didn't), or 3) this box came from a plant with serious quality control issues. br>Here are the problems with this box:br>* This seemed insignificant at first, but it was my first indication that something was wrong with this shipment: All of the cans have subtle but noticeable differences in the labels (grey hue, different image, brighter pink, washed-out turquoise, ingredients listed in black print rather than white, minor text/caption placement/alignment changes). I assumed it was a printing error or a label change. br>* This was a little more aggravating: Side dents were present in 21 of the 24 cans (the box appeared to be in good condition and had only minor damage- not in a position to account for nearly all of the damage to the can). br>* The deal-breaker situation: This isn't the same food at all: Not small bits of meat, but large chunks. Even the gravy was a no-no for Cat. A little more info: br>** When I first opened the can (beef), the chunks were 1" x 3/4" instead of the usual 1/4" x 1/4" chunks. My cat tried but couldn't finish the first small serving from the can, so he pulled the largest chunks out of the bowl and set them aside, leaving the remaining servings untouched. **Chicken in the second can: I licked a little gravy off the top of the same large chunks, but I left all of the food and the remaining gravy in the bowl. (After several hours, he had yet to eat the first small serving from this can. ) )br>** The turkey will be skipped. There's clearly a problem. br>br>I'm not sure if I should keep ordering this product from Amazon.

When you order on Amazon, you might get the French-made Fancy Feast
4/5

I've had this on a subscription for a while, but the labels, cans, and food inside are slightly different from what I've been getting. Because the previous shipment appeared to be different, I inquired on Facebook with Purina and Fancy Feast about it, asking if they were genuine products. I'm not happy that the product was suddenly swapped without any indication of what would happen or when, especially since the food itself is different and cats are so picky about food. We haven't had any issues, which is a blessing. br>br>My cat will eat both French and American food, but prefers the French version because of the slightly different gravy and slightly larger individual pieces of food. Hopefully, he'll keep eating both types. br>____br>br>My cat is 17 years old and in the middle of her life. renal failure/kidney disease in its advanced stages He refuses to eat prescription kidney diets, but this commercial wet food has some of the lowest phosphorus levels of any widely available commercial wet food. (Wet is preferable to dry for cats, especially those with renal failure. ) ) He prefers to eat this multipack in particular and does well on it. We'll keep putting it in his mouth.

It was a horrible experience
3/5

Please read carefully before making a purchase. I'm not one for writing reviews. Amazon has always been a positive experience for me. Perishable goods, on the other hand, are not something I will consider purchasing on Amazon after this. Prior to this incident, I had a good half-year run with my cat food subscription. I noticed a brown stain on the bottom of the cat food box when I received it. When I opened it, I discovered an empty can. Maggots had completely consumed the can, which was covered in them. Then the older maggots began to emerge from the box. To say I was disgusted would be an understatement. I froze. I was also disappointed in Amazon for sending out a box that was in such bad shape to begin with. I can't afford to put my cat's health at risk for the sake of a convenient subscription because it is so important to me. I'm canceling my subscription and picking up my food. I'd like to encourage others to follow my lead so they don't have to go through what I did. I'll warn you that I took a photo of the can, and it's graphic, but you can see it for yourself if you want to.

Formula is different - The situation has been clarified
4/5

I noticed the new Amazon box was different, as I had noticed in previous reviews. The cans were inverted, the label was different, the top had four bumps instead of two and opened more smoothly, and most importantly, the food was different. With a lighter gravy, it's like strands of meat. On the left side of the attached photo, there is new food. br>br>I fed it without thinking because I was used to it. It was a big hit with the cats, who licked their bowls clean. I looked up to see if there had been any recent formula changes, but all I saw were comments and concerns. br>br>I contacted Fancy Feast, and after going over all of the differences and providing lot numbers and other information, they informed me that demand had increased and that they had begun using factories in France. The food is authentic, but it originates in a different country or factory. br>br>It may not be to your cats' liking, but it appears to be genuine Fancy Feast that is safe to eat. It was such a hit with my cats that I'm ordering more from Amazon right now. I'm fine because my cats enjoy both recipes, but there's no way of knowing what you'll get. TLDR: TLDR: TLDR: TLDR: TLDR: TLDR: TLDR: TLDR The food is authentic Fancy Feast from a different French factory.
