Questions & Answers

"PetLac contains no soy protein and only the highest-quality milk protein." " Despite the fact that it's the third component. Is there anyone who can confirm this?

The third ingredient isn't soy protein; it's something else entirely. Soy protein isolate is what you're looking for. There is an important distinction to be made. I looked up the difference on the internet, but due to time constraints, I only skimmed a few articles. Plus, you'll probably want to look it up on the internet and decide for yourself. Btw, I've been working in cat rescue for ten years, have fed a lot of bottle baby kittens, and used KMR at first. PetLac is made by the same company, but it's cheaper, so I did some research to compare the two. There was little to no difference, if any at all. (I believe the only difference is in the ad budgets.) So, a few years ago, we switched to PetLac instead of KMR due to cost, and the bottle babies tolerated it perfectly. (However, you might be using it for something other than puppies and kittens.)

Is there a way to make this work better? Even when I thoroughly mix it, it lumps and clogs the nipples. I've also experimented with boiling water. ?

Warm water and a small egg whisk are used, and whisking continues until my arm hurts. It takes a long time, but the clumps eventually fall out. To make the formula flow easily, I cut the nipples in an X pattern. I microwave it after mixing it, then whisk it again before placing the bowl in a warm water bath to keep it warm because it cools quickly. I know they say not to microwave it, but just whisk it well again to avoid hot spots. I hope you find this information useful. Best wishes to you.

Is it true that mine didn't come with a scoop?

I'm not sure what size scoop I used, but I believe it was one part powder to two parts water. It's difficult to mix (get lumps out), but I'd put 1 tablespoon of powder and 2 tablespoons of water in a mixing bowl and stir well. (Or add 1 tablespoon of water at a time, mixing well to form a paste before adding another tablespoon.) It should be similar to whole milk in consistency. Keep track of your measurements until everything appears to be in order. (I've been rescuing cats for over ten years and have had a lot of "bottle babies"). I usually made enough for a day's worth of feedings, so depending on how many bottle babies I have, I might make up a cup or two at a time, keep it refrigerated, and pour into bottles as needed. (Alternatively, I'd pour some into clean bottles and freeze them until I needed them.) Oh, and those kitten milk bottles, by the way? I'd always cut the tip of nipple off because the formula was never fast enough. You can try it "as is" before enlarging the hole as needed. When I noticed that kittens as young as a few days old were having to work too hard (suck too much) to get the formula, I did this. (And if the kitten SHOULD be hungry but won't take the bottle in its mouth, it's most likely because it needs to go potty, so encourage it to do so.) THEN it will almost certainly eat).

Is it possible to have it delivered in one to two months?

Shipping is three days if the item is in stock. 5 days for business.

I was able to save both of my kittens
5/5

When the mother of a three-week-old kitten was killed, I adopted her. I went to the pet supply store knowing I would have to bottle feed him. They tried to sell me a KLM formula can that was quite pricey. The little one began to feel ill and became extremely constipated. I looked up PetLac kitten formula online and decided to give it a try after reading some positive reviews. The kitten felt 100% better and had normal stools within 24 hours of using this formula. br>Right after I weaned this little guy, I got another kitten who had been thrown out of a car minutes after birth. I had half a can of PetLac left and was hoping to save this new little guy. It was a frightening few weeks, but he is now a healthy 6-month-old. br>I am completely confident in this kitten formula's ability to save extremely vulnerable kittens. It was calorie-dense while also being gentle on their stomachs. The kids were so enamored with this formula that they drank it far longer than was required. They begged for a bowl of cereal before bed after weaning off the bottle.

There is a distinction between PetLac and KMR
5/5

This, PetLac, and the KMR formula are not the same thing. I started a two-day-old abandoned kitten on this and switched to the KMR formula from the same company about a week later. The kitten had digestive issues and developed diarrhea as a result of the KMR. There is no way I can know 100% if it was due to the switch in formula, but it wasn't worth chance it, so I quickly switched back. The kitten has been excellent for the past two weeks. There are differences in the ingredients as well as the fat-to-protein ratios. br>At the time of purchase, Petlac was also a few dollars less expensive.

This is also true for older cats
5/5

This and another brand of cat food saved my senior cat's life when he was losing weight and having no appetite; he ate it readily and seemed to enjoy it. Although senior formulas are available, I believe kitten milk is higher in fat and calories.

Constipation was a side effect of keeping the neonatal kitten plump and happy
4/5

When we were faced with the task of caring for a one-day-old orphaned kitten, PetLac Milk Powder came in handy. Her diarrhea was caused by KMR in a can, so we decided to try this product after doing some research and reading reviews. I had no problems with clumping when I used hot water and one of those little handheld whirring devices people use to make lattes frothy, and the kitten seemed to like it. I appreciated that this powder was much cheaper than the other brands, especially since we were going to be bottle feeding for so long. My only complaint (and the reason for the one-star rating) is that this stuff made me extremely constipated. I tried every piece of sensible kitten constipation advice I could find (including taking her to the vet), but the constipation persisted until she started weaning. I'm not sure if it's a digestive issue specific to my kitten because she was orphaned so young or a problem with the product, but pooping was a challenge for a while. br>br>Constipation aside, PetLac powder is definitely going to be the milk replacement I choose when bottlefeeding kittens in the future, and I'd recommend it to anyone caring for tiny kittens.

When my elderly cat's kidneys failed, I was able to save his life
5/5

When my elderly cat's kidney failure began, I was able to save his quality of life; he only began to suffer in the last three weeks of his life before we admitted defeat and took him to the vet; Petlac, on the other hand, allowed him to gain weight for about a year. Since then, I've used this formula to save the lives of abandoned kittens.

It saves the lives of teeny-tiny cats
5/5

I use it to bring malnourished feral kittens up to a healthy weight, after which nature takes over and they mature into wonderful cats. This formula gives them a head start; they enjoy the taste, and the adult cats I've had drink it out of a bowl. br>Recent changes: Although this formula is intended for kittens, I use it to supplement the nutrition of CatSure, which my kittens adore, but that formula was discovered to be for sick or elderly cats. This is a unique circumstance. My kittens are no longer kittens, but are now between the ages of 3 and 4 months. They were rescued during a healwave, with an illness that prevented them from smelling food and recognizing when it was safe to eat it. They were also small for their age and feral. The infection has been a persistent respiratory illness that has sapped their energy, but the extra nutrition from Petlac milk has helped them gain weight. I make a half-and-half mixture with catSure, and they gobble it up and beg for more. Along with their cat food, they consume this. They are being saved by this supplementation.

If you're looking for a great bottle opener, look no further
5/5

kittens are being raised This milk substitute is one of my favorites. Let's be honest: none of the commercial milk substitutes compare to the real thing, and they all have the potential to cause soft stools or (more commonly) constipation. KMR is particularly well-known for tying up kittens. Furthermore, no two kittens are alike, and none of them have ever read a bottle. You never know what kind of GI problem you'll get when you're raising manuals. br>br>However, in addition to being a far more cost-effective option, this Pet-friendly option is also more environmentally friendly. Lac appears to cause fewer and milder GI problems than KMR. This is odd, given that they're both manufactured by the same company, but who am I to doubt better results from a less expensive product?.

It completed its task! Because I was unable to have my cat fixed during Covid, she had kittens
5/5

I bought it just in case, but it turned out to be a bit of a straggler. This was used to help fill the other kittens so the runt would not be pushed away as much. Mama and the other seven kittens were quickly out of formula. When I was weaning their kittens, I used it to soften their food. Because all seven people survived, I'm going to call this formula a success!.
