Yes, it is a good source of vitamins and can be used for the first year if desired. Alternatively, try getting some diet Science kitten food from your vet or Petco, which I believe provides all the nutrients a small kitten requires. Even some formula has been mixed in with the dry food. If you prefer, kitten food is also available in a moist form that can be mixed with either wet or dry food. Even with water, I use the formula. Because their bones are still growing, it is critical that they eat a healthy diet during their first year of life. Since I was six years old, I've been caring for kittens and cats. I take in orphaned and abandoned kittens as young as two days old and raise them by hand. I've used this product on a few of them and don't believe it's necessary or essential for the weaning process. However, if you're worried about meeting your weanlings' nutritional needs, it doesn't hurt to add; it mixes up to a consistency that ranges from a slurry to pudding depending on how much you dilute it and appears to dissolve well. It is necessary for the kittens to be able to drink from a bowl. Bottles are not permitted. However, they can be consumed without the use of teeth. I usually wean my kittens by either soaking kitten chow in KMR or combining it with wet food. If I don't have time to wait for the dry food to soften, I'll use this product once or twice (if it's given to me). Because it takes a lot of this powder to make a pudding or a thicker consistency, it's not as cost-effective as other powders, and I don't keep it on hand during kitten season. I would have given it a 4 or 5 star rating if the star ratings were based on the product's quality, nutritional value, or ease of use. This product is well-liked by the kittens, and I haven't experienced any digestive issues or diarrhea as a result of using it. If you need a transitional food for your cat or if you have a sick cat (adult or kitten), this is a great product from a reputable manufacturer, and the price on Amazon is unbeatable.
My 12-year-old female feline is as thin as a rale. She's the tiniest cat I've ever seen, and she's always been that way. I didn't pay much attention to "Lovie" for a couple of years while I was working full-time, and then I retired and moved to a retirement community with Lovie and two other cats. Despite the fact that the number of cats had been reduced, she continued to avoid the other two felines. and finished off the last of the food I thought she needed a supplement to improve her health and well-being, as well as to help her break free from her shell. I've always fostered and weaned my children using a combination of wet food and formula. I saw this at the pet store and decided to look it up on Amazon (which is MUCH cheaper, which isn't surprising). I wanted to give it a shot, so I placed an order. My foster kittens had terrible diarrhea as a result of using this. Diarrhea isn't uncommon in kittens who have changed their diets, but this was particularly bad. They made the entire house stink. They didn't seem to be in the best of spirits. They went back to normal after I stopped using it. My mother volunteered to help me with them one day and unknowingly used this, causing them to have terrible diarrhea once more. I ended up weaning them with only wet food and formula, and they had two days of the normal, expected runny bowel movements, but nothing like the crap that came out of them when I used this stuff, and it cleared up quickly. When I asked a vet at a local shelter if she'd ever used it, she said she hadn't and didn't know anyone who had. br>br>In general, it's inexpensive and has a good concept. But it made my foster kids sick right away, and it's devoid of nutrients, so it's not worth it.

Who knows what will happen with these things- I'm not going to attempt it once more.
