Although it states that it is, you are correct in that the image does not depict a break-up. away, and the collar isn't what it claims to be. These collars are extremely disappointing; they are too thick and do not resemble the old break-away collars. Zodiac used to be a company that sold aways.
I don't think the two should be combined. If it's a full-strength topical treatment, wait until the next treatment and then replace it with a collar. Collars are a great way to keep track of your belongings. They can't handle the chemicals when they're mixed together.
After the first day, I don't recall smelling anything.
It simply disengages from the clipped-on position. It will easily disintegrate without causing harm to the cat or the collar. It's only come off twice, and you can easily reattach it by wrapping it around their neck and snapping it shut.

I'm not going to say much about the flea control because it made both of my cats sick. They had them on for a few days before any problems arose; it started with one cat being a little sick to her stomach, but it progressed. When my other cat became ill as well, I realized what the problem was. I took the collars off and it took a few days for the sick kitties to feel better, but there were no long-term problems, which I'd never seen before. It's possible that they were simply sensitive, but if you try this, be cautious.
I'm sorry to say that the Zodiac cat flea collars aren't worth the money. While regular combing of the animals (2 cats and 1 dog), weekly washing of their bedding, and weekly vacuuming have kept the fleas at bay, I purchased the Zodiac flea collars (2 for the cats and 1 for the dog) as an additional tool to keep these pests under control until the cold weather arrives and they are gone for the year. I discovered the highest concentration of fleas around the collar when I combed the cats on a weekly basis. I would never advise anyone to buy this product.
Our indoor or outdoor cat has medium to long fur and 99% of the time we would find ticks around his neck and had to use the tick puller to remove them from the poo We haven't found a tick on him since we started using the Zodiac Breakaway flea and tick collar in March 2016, and the collar has only "broken away" once while it was on him. We discovered it on the ground, so I'm not sure how it got there. One thing to keep in mind is that we don't just use this product; we also give our cat the Capstar flea pill (monthly/as needed) and flea and tick powder (monthly/as needed). We saw a significant decrease in ticks and no fleas on our cat after using the three products together. In August, I intend to replace the collar to ensure maximum protection throughout the fall season. Tip: To keep track of when the month is up, we write the date on the packaging of the last time we gave him either a collar, Capstar, or flea powder. We intentionally skip doses during the winter months because they aren't required in our climate.
Her neck was completely raw and bald, and fleas were still present. I had to take the collar off!.
She went to the vet for her annual checkup yesterday, and the vet informed us that she has a flea infestation. It is ineffective. Spending money is a waste of money. Our poor kitty is in a lot of pain. After giving her a few injections that she needed, the vet advised us to wait 48 hours before applying the flea ointment. Except for going to the vet, our cat has never been outside. She's a cat who prefers to spend her time indoors. br>We thought we were being responsible by using a flea collar. Make sure you don't make the same blunder that we did. It's completely ineffective.
I'm not sure where we are with this collar right now. Even after two months and moderate vacuuming, the cat is still scratching and has a few fleas that ride around on her now and then, but we don't have an infestation, I suppose. The floor is "not lava," as they say, and the cat isn't ill as a result of wearing the collar as directed by the box. Perhaps we're winning because no one in the house is getting bitten. I adore the pause- The cat is kept safe by the away feature.
I gave him one of those flea pills and bought the flea collar as a preventative; I stretched the collar to activate it, but the cat was scratching his head, so it must not have worked. The fleas were only a fraction of an inch from the collar. The poor feline became infested while wearing it. I'm going to buy a Seresto, which is something I should have done earlier.
The breakaway feature is an excellent safety feature for a cat that goes outside. Thankfully, the collar worked when my cat was out hunting and climbing trees as she did every day. In terms of flea protection, I'd give it an O. It worked to some extent, but not to its full potential! The rain may have washed some of the chemicals off the collar because it was outside, but it didn't do a complete job of flea prevention or control.
